Carlos studied cinematography at the International School of Film and
Television in San Antonio de Los Baños (Cuba). He has two decades of
experience working on commercials, television serials, documentaries,
and short and feature length feature films, including Papa Iván, which
won the prize for best documentary at the 2000 Festival Latinoamericano
in Havana, Cuba, and Ezra, a super 16mm feature film produced in Rwanda
that won best film at the Durban International Film Festival and the
Grand Prize at the Ouagadougou Pan-African Film and TV Festival in
2007. He was Director of Photography for the critically acclaimed
documentary The Act of Killing, which won the CPH:DOX Award at the 2012
Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival and the Audience
Award at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival.
