Dan Angel
Dan Angel, a multiple Emmy, Peabody and WGA award-winning writer and producer has been creating and supervising quality film and television production for over thirty years. His broad range of experience includes an extensive background in many genres from Science Fiction and Horror to branded family entertainment in all formats. He has been responsible for some of the biggest successes in both family series and long form movies over the past three decades.

Recently, Mr. Angel launched a new Family Film and Television Studio, Fezziwig Studios. Fezziwig has secured rights to over 200 high-profile properties including New York Times Best Selling titles as well as authors libraries.

Fezziwig Studios completed production on an adaptation of the New York Times Best-Selling book, Out of My Mind, by Sharon Draper, a partnership with Peter Saraf and Participant Media. Out of My Mind premiered on Disney+ in 2024 to rave reviews and a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes. It had its world premiere at Sundance in 2024 to great reception and critical acclaim and continues to garner several awards and honors including a Peabody win, the Television Academy Honors and Best Picture Nomination for the Critics' Choice Awards. In 2022 Fezziwig Studios produced Rescued by Ruby for Netflix, the true story of the amazing Hero Dog of the Year. Rescued By Ruby, starring Grant Gustin, premiered to stellar ratings, finishing #2 across the globe in over 180 countries and has garnered several awards and had a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Fezziwig Studios made a major move in 2022, closing a deal with New York Times Best Selling author, Jodi Thomas. Fezziwig will control her library of over 70 titles. The first title, Ransom Canyon, is a Netflix original series based on the Best-Seller, starring Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly and James Brolin. Ransom Canyon premiered April 17 as the #1 series for Netflix in the U.S and globally. Fezziwig Studios also closed a library deal on the New York Times best Selling author, Terri Blackstock. Her best-selling title, If I Run, starring Kat Graham, will premiere on Lifetime, summer of 2025. Fezziwig Studios has also closed deals on several Newbery winning best sellers including the classics, Julie of the Wolves, Wringer and Dead End In Norvelt, and is also developing The Great Brain books into a series with Nomadic.

Having great success adapting big best-selling books, Mr. Angel secured the rights to the entire V.C. Andrews library, over 100 titles, and made a major deal with Lifetime to produce and launch this major brand, producing 16 films from the V.C. Andrews collection and garnering some of the highest ratings in Lifetime's history.

Mr. Angel won recognition when he Co-produced and co-wrote the hit family series, Goosebumps, for the FOX Network, winning the WGA Award for Best Children's Writing, a Gemini nomination for Best Children's Series and a TV Guide pick two years in a row as the best kid's shows on television.

Goosebumps is considered one of the most successful family series in television history. He followed that success with another hit R.L Stine series, The Haunting Hour. The Haunting Hour was nominated for 28 Emmy's and won 7, including the coveted Outstanding Children's Series award 3 years in a row. The Haunting Hour received over 50 awards and honors during its series run.

Mr. Angel was responsible for the inspirational film Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story. He served as the Executive Producer on this event movie for TNT. It stars Cuba Gooding Jr. and Kimberly Elise and was directed by Thomas Carter. Gifted Hands had its worldwide premiere on TNT and was nominated for a number of honors including a Humanitas Prize, A Critics Choice for Best Picture, four Emmy nominations and it won Best Picture at the Image Awards and Best Picture at The Movie Guide Awards. It continues to be a number one best-selling title for Sony/Affirm.

Among his other noteworthy accomplishments, Mr. Angel secured the movie rights to the inspiring true story of Bill Porter after seeing an interview on ABC's "20/20". Mr. Angel served as Executive Producer of the movie, Door to Door, which he sold to TNT and Johnson and Johnson. It starred William H. Macy, Kyra Sedgewick and Helen Mirren and in 2003 Door to Door was not only one of the most watched, but also one of the most honored movies of all time, including AFI, Peabody, Emmy and Critics Choice honors. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences nominated Door to Door with more Prime Time Emmy nominations than any other program that year, twelve, and it won six Emmy Awards, the most of any program, including Outstanding Made for Television Movie. The six Emmy wins for Door to Door made it the most-ever garnered for TNT.

Mr. Angel has produced over 40 films for Lifetime, Hallmark, Universal and many other studios and networks. Many of his films have been the highest rated movies in those network's history. Mr. Angel and his partner, Billy Brown worked on many series including Executive Story Editor/Writers on the FOX TV hit, The X-Files, Supervising Producers, on Animorphs, and Spooksville and Creator, Writer, Executive Producers of the Award-winning John Carpenter Presents: Body Bags for Showtime.

Mr. Angel attended UCLA Film School. He currently lives with his wife in Santa Clarita, California and celebrates his blessed life with an amazing family including his three wonderful children and five amazing grandchildren.
