Despite his monotone voice and down-to-earth perspective, Rick and Morty's Birdperson has managed to become a fan-favorite character. In a world of freaky, mind-bending alien logic, Birdperson values the simple things, harboring a deep respect for friendship and a sincerely heroic past as a rebel attempting to free the galaxy from the Galactic Federation. Tragically gunned down at his wedding to undercover agent Tamantha "Tammy" Guterman, Birdperson was turned into a cybernetic slave and later restored by Rick only to learn that the Federation had imprisoned his daughter - a plot thread that remains unresolved as of the midway point of season 6.
Birdperson harbors a surprising amount of pathos and complexity for a character with such an offhand name, however that's not so surprising given his inspiration. Birdperson strongly resembles the character of Hawk from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century - a silent, stalwart ally of the heroic main character.

Parents would naturally do just about anything to save their children’s lives. That’s precisely what Brian and Danielle Dwyer did in 2014, when their son Waldo was diagnosed with a rare form of eye cancer, and they chose to complement his chemotherapy with medicinal cannabis oil. “Waldo on Weed,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, will no doubt strike a chord with those who are pot-inclined. More than the film’s activist message, however, it’s writer-director Tommy Avallone’s portrait of whatever-it-takes parental risk and sacrifice that will help it resonate with audiences no matter their views on marijuana.
Born a whopping 13 lbs, 8.5 oz, the enormously named Waldo James Mysterious Dwyer was your typical adorable infant until, at six months, he received his dire diagnosis and was put on a chemotherapy regimen that made him sick and miserable. Luckily for Waldo, however, dad Brian — the gregarious owner of a Philadelphia pizza shop,...

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the end of Life with Lucy. It ended up being the last TV series that legendary comedienne Lucille Ball ever did. She long resisted returning to television, reasoning that she couldn't top what she'd already done. It turned out that she was right.
Life with Lucy debuted on Saturday, September 20, 1986 and reunited Ball with her longtime co-star, Gale Gordon. In the new series, Ball plays a widowed grandmother named Lucille Barker who'd inherited her husband's half-interest in a small Pasadena hardware store. The other half is owned by grumpy Curtis McGibbon (Gordon). While Curtis is away on vacation, his helper Leonard Stoner (Donovan Scott) becomes ill so silent-partner Lucy steps in and decides she likes being active in the business.
She's also moved in with her daughter, Margo (Ann Dusenberry), and her husband Ted (Larry Anderson),...
