Remember last fall, when Ernie Anastos, co-anchor of Fox's Wnyw New York affiliate, entered the viral video clip Hall of Fame by dropping what sounded like an f-bomb ("Keep f---ing that chicken") live on a 10 p.m. newscast?

Well, he may have company. Rosanna Scotto, who co-anchors Wnyw's morning news, didn't drop an f-bomb this morning, but her on-air slip was just as awkward. Via Vulture:

The incident proves what I've been saying for years: local news anchors are literally incapable of ad-libbing anything.

Way back when, a news anchor in New York said something rather unfortunate on the air. Well, unfortunate to him, but hilarious to anyone else with a working central nervous system.

Ernie Anastos, the Fox news anchor in New York, accidentally uttered the now-immortal phrase "keep $&%^ing that chicken" during a throwback on an evening news cast. Anastos told The New York Times in a recent profile that he didn't realize he had said anything bad until after that night's broadcast and insists he was trying to say "plucking."

Despite the reputation of the infamous moment, Anastos said he's done denying that the infamous word fell from his mouth because "If you keep saying, 'I didn't really say that,' it doesn't sound right. This is New York. That particular word is practically 'hello,' the way it is used."

What is with New York City news anchors dropping f-bombs on live television?

While bantering with the weatherman on Fox's Wnyw, longtime New York City news anchor Ernie Anastos jovially flubbed a line on Wednesday, creating a new obscene catchphrase rapidly spreading across the internet.

Anastos, who likely meant to say "Keep plucking that chicken," after making a play on an old chicken commercial, swapped the "pl" for a letter F. The news veteran remained oblivious to his flub and continued on with the broadcast as though nothing had happened. But his co-anchor's eyes nearly popped out of her head.

One thing we know for sure is that "Keep f--ing that chicken" works as a blanket retort of friendly support in nearly all personal and professional situations. This qualifies as "professional" because we are both currently at the office.
