- With his countenance, skeletal physique and height (about 6 feet) he was perfect for henchman, villains and menacing roles.
- For American audiences, he is best remembered for Woody Allen's comic dub of a Japanese film re-titled "What's Up, Tiger Lily?" (1966) in which his character is named "Cobra Man" and is dubbed by Paul Frees with an imitation Peter Lorre voice. He also got a showy lead role as Dr. Hu, the chief villain in "King Kong Escapes" (1967).
