- She is most famous for playing Ace, the final companion of the Doctor in the original run of the long running science fiction series Docteur Who (1963).
- Russell T. Davies considered bringing back Sophie Aldred as Ace in The Sarah Jane Adventures (2007) (TV Series). But, the series was canceled when it's star Elisabeth Sladen died.
- She has two children: Adam John Henderson, born in 2000 and William Frederik Henderson in 2003.
- Her son Adam Henderson played live action Tom in the BBC computer animated kids show Tree Fu Tom (2012) (TV Series) which Sophie provided the voice of Tom.
- Her character on Doctor Who, Ace, was supposed to be 16 years old teen, whereas she herself was actually 25.
- Like her predecessor Bonnie Langford, Sophie Aldred appeared in the long running BBC soap opera EastEnders (1985) (TV Series) which she played a character called Suzie in two episodes in 1993.
- Before filming season 25 of Docteur Who (1963), the producers told her to lose weight. Having suffered from anorexia when she was a teenager, she got so furious by it that she put on extra weight to spite the producers.
