He was a director and writer, known for Le grand Meaulnes (1967), Le rat d'Amérique (1963) and La fille aux yeux d'or (1961). He was married to Marie Laforêt, Hélène Tessier and Alphonsine Blanc. He died on April 9, 2001 in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
