Jared Padalecki mentioned in an interview with TV Guide that the initial plan for Walker (2021) was that he would only executive produce while Jensen would play the lead. Jared ending up playing Walker as well.

Before being cast as Dean Winchester on Supernatural (2005), he originally read for Sam Winchester, because that was the only part that was being auditioned at the time. But he already in that audition made clear his interest and preference for the part of Dean and he was also the show runners' first choice for the role. Jensen never had to actually audition separately for the role of Dean, but was instead only brought in when it was time to read for the executives & "suits". That day was also the day he and Jared Padalecki met for the first time. They were the only actors called to be there that day for the roles of Sam and Dean and they were given the roles that day "in the room" right after their chemistry read.

Voiced Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Tomorrowverse franchise but was considered for the character in Batman v Superman: L'aube de la justice (2016), Batwoman (2019) and Gotham Knights (2023).

Jensen was asked by his high school drama teacher to participate in a play in his last year (1995-1996). The play/ musical was "West Side Story", with Jensen as the male lead Tony. There was a talent scout in the audience who recommended that Jensen should pursue acting in L.A. After speaking with his parents, they agreed that instead of starting his college studies (which were by then fully arranged), he would try for 6 months - 1 year to get work as an actor and if that didn't work, he would drop trying to be a professional actor and instead go to college like planned. Jensen got work straight away and has never stopped since.

Since 1995 Jensen Ackles has acted in more than 800 different episodes, on a variety of television shows.

He had Lasik eye surgery to correct his myopia in 2009.

Auditioned and lost the role of Joe which went to Pedro Pascal in The Last of Us (2023).
