Joe Absolom, Ian McNeice, and Jessica Ransom in Doc Martin (2004)
King Lear meets King Arthur. A Shakespearean script applied to the legends of King Arthur: Queen Guinevere is to be burned to death for her adulterous affair with the knight Lancelot. On the eve of her execution there is one last desperate chance for her life to be spared. This short film directed by Chris Mugford and produced by Joe Driver combines a Shakespearean script with an outstanding performance by Joe Absolom who starred in UK Network TV's "A Confession" with Martin Freeman and Imelda Staunton, BAFTA nominated for Best Supporting Actor. The original score is by Matthew Slater, composer for the long-running UK TV drama series "Endeavour", screened by PBS in the US.
