Fatin Abdel Wahab was a pioneering Egyptian film director renowned for his contributions to mid-20th-century Egyptian cinema, particularly in the comedy genre. He began his career working in the passport office, then served as a reserve officer in the Egyptian Army. He was the younger brother of actor Seraj Munir and director Hassan Abdel Wahab. began to act in small parts, starting with Filles de la montagne (1945), where he was also an assistant director to Youssef Wahbi. His debut as a director was with Nadia (1949), a melodramatic film.

He went on to build a remarkable career, directing nearly 60 films. He became best known for his comedies, particularly his successful partnership with iconic comedian Ismail Yassin. Together, they formed one of the most memorable duos in Egyptian cinema, producing 16 films, including the famous "Ismail Yassin" series that bore the actor's name.

He directed classic films such as Maître Fatma (1952), Ibn Hamido (1957), Une rumeur d'amour (1960), El-Zogah 13 (1962), Ailat Zizi (1963), Aroos el-Nil (1963), Iterafat zoj (1965) and Merati Modeer Aam (1966). His ability to elicit strong performances from actors and his keen sense of timing made his films enduring favorites. Seventeen of his works were included in the list of the 100 best comedies in Egyptian cinema, underscoring his significant impact on the industry.
