    • Charles Previn was born on January 11, 1888 in Brooklyn [now in New York City], New York, USA. He was a composer and actor, known for L'ombre d'un doute (1943), Mon homme Godfrey (1936) and Cinquième colonne (1942). He died on September 22, 1973 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Trivia

  • His cousin's sons are composer André Previn and director Steve Previn.
  • Graduate of Cornell University and the New York College of Music. Worked as arranger and musical director on Broadway (1915-1933)revues and comedies. Subsequently conducted for radio, 1934-1936. Joined Universal in 1936 and was responsible for developing the studio's music department under his aegis as musical director, until 1942. After 1947, had brief stints with Eagle Lion and MGM. Retired in 1953.
