He has written many award-winning scores for the later Star Trek
television series. However his most enduring composition is a simple
flute melody written for the episode "The Inner Light" (1992) of the
series "Star Trek: The Next Generation". It has since been arranged for
orchestra, other instruments and electronic remix. Original lyrics for
this melody have also been written by several poets.
