Jeremy Renner Turned Down MCU Return for 'Hawkeye' Season 2 After Being Offered Half Pay
Image
Jeremy Renner has portrayed Clint Barton/Hawkeye in seven projects related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and his last appearance as the character was in the Disney+ miniseries Hawkeye, which premiered in 2021. Since then, Renner has showcased that he is much stronger than any superhero following his miraculous recovery from a snowplow accident at the top of 2023, which nearly cost him his life. Following the life-changing incident, Renner steadily got back to work on other projects but has still been absent from the MCU. As it turns out, the actor was offered a return as Clint Barton for another season of Hawkeye, but his offer to reprise the role was insulting at best.

During an interview with High Performance, Renner revealed that he was offered "half" of what he made for the first season of Hawkeye to return for Season 2. While he didn't reveal the exact amount, it's obvious it...

Image
Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 isn't coming to Disney+ anytime soon, but Rick Riordan, the author of the Percy Jackson book series, is sharing more good news with fans this spring.

Riordan revealed on Goodreads that he's "guardedly optimistic" about the Percy Jackson season running for five seasons on Disney+ and covering all five books in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series.

All I can say for certain is that everyone involved is hoping and assuming that we will have the full five-season arc, but we'll just have to wait and see. As for how fast they will come out, the hope is certainly that we can pick up the pace of release dates,...

Disney+ Greenlights Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 Ahead of Season 2
Rick Riordan
Disney+ has announced an early renewal for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, confirming a third season before the second season has aired. The decision reflects confidence in the adaptation of Rick Riordan’s book series, which has been one of the most successful original shows on the streaming platform.

Season 2, which wrapped production in January, is scheduled to premiere in December, two years after the first season debuted. The renewal of Season 3 allows the creative team to continue developing the series without major delays, an approach that co-showrunner Jonathan E. Steinberg has emphasized as a priority.

“Part of wanting to keep the process going is trying to do whatever we can to be ready for it and to know how to have the conversations and to have a plan,” Steinberg said in a recent interview.

The upcoming third season will be based on The Titan’s Curse, the third book in...

10 Perfect Villain Performances In Modern Sci-Fi Movies
Image
Great sci-fi movies need great villains, and there have been some villains in recent sci-fi movies who seem destined to go down in history. Many of the best modern sci-fi movies are elevated by their villains, and compelling performances are vital to this. If a sci-fi movie does things well, the villains can be just as compelling as the main characters, and they can become just as popular too.

Villains have to push the heroes in interesting ways, so many of the best recent villains are designed to counteract the qualities of other characters. This means that actors who play villains need to be in tune with the motivations of their own characters as well as the other characters in the movie. An intriguing dynamic between the hero and the villain can make both characters more memorable.

Where Was Cold Pursuit Filmed? Thriller's Filming Location Explained
Image
"Cold Pursuit" takes place in the fictional town of Kehoe, Colorado, but was primarily filmed in Alberta, Canada, due to its similarities in snowy, mountainous conditions. British Columbia, Canada, was also chosen as a filming location, with Vancouver serving as one of the primary cities for filming. Norway was potentially used as a filming location, although it is unclear which scenes were captured there. The choice makes sense, given the snowy setting and the director's ties to the country.

The title of Cold Pursuit does not bury the lede regarding the story's setting — it takes place in the snowy terrain of Colorado in the United States, but the movie's production was located a little farther north. The 2019 action thriller film stars Liam Neeson as Nels Coxman, a snowplow driver who works at a ski resort, and revolves around Nels' revenge plot following the murder of his son by a drug cartel.

“Heck, if she asked me to get coffee, I would have done it. She’s just a next level storyteller and I...

‘Zero Contact’ Film Review: Anthony Hopkins Zoom-Call Thriller Lays a Goose Egg
Anthony Hopkins, Aleks Paunovic, and Chris Brochu in Zero Contact (2022)
Some movies transport you from your dreary, everyday existence into a fascinating world of excitement and wonder. And then there are films like “Zero Contact,” which make you wish you were taking out the cat litter or regrouting the bathroom tiles instead of watching it.

“Zero Contact” stars Sir Anthony Hopkins as Finley Hart, a billionaire technology guru who, at the start of the film, has already died and left his mysterious final project, “The Quantinuum Initiative,” unfinished.

After his death, a group of people directly connected to Finley are summoned to a mysterious video chat, where they are told to input their secret codes and activate the Quantinuum Initiative. It’s a process that should take all of 45 seconds, but they have an hour to do it, because first they have to dump a metric ton of exposition, debate each other’s motives and get picked off by a...

‘Zero Contact’ Review: The Zoom-Shot Movie Subgenre Dies Yelling
Image
The mild initial curiosity stirred by Zoom-shot movies died quickly, because so few of them were watchable, and because filmmakers quickly found workarounds to create more fluid entertainments while still observing Covid precautionary measures. Thus “Zero Contact” arrives as a novelty that’s already more than worn out its welcome, aiming for dubious additional distinction as “the world’s first star-powered feature film Nft.” (It was released in that form last September — whether anyone actually purchased it as such is unknown.)

We’ll just gingerly step around that factoid, as the aptly named “Zero Contact” has plenty of more tangible ways in which it is a steaming pile of nada. Producer turned first-time director Rick Dugdale and screenwriter Cam Cannon’s would-be thriller has five globally-scattered protagonists yelling at their screens during a conference call in which the fate of all humanity supposedly hangs in the balance from some murky high-tech threat.

Check Out the Trailer For Zero Contact Starring Anthony Hopkins – Available in Theaters, On Digital and On Demand May 27th
Image
Zero Contact stars Chris Brochu (“The Vampire Diaries”), Aleks Paunovic (“Snowpiercer”) and Academy Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs). The film marks the directorial debut of Rick Dugdale, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Cam Cannon (Deadlock).

Here’s the trailer:

Starring Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs), this high-tech thriller chillingly reimagines our isolated, virtual world. Hopkins plays Finley Hart, the eccentric genius behind a global data-mining program. Upon his death, five remote agents — including Finley’s son — are contacted by a mysterious A.I. entity to reactivate the initiative, which may enable time travel. As sinister events occur at each of the agents’ homes, they must decide whether entering their passwords will save the world…or destroy it.

Anthony Hopkins in High-Tech Mystery Thriller 'Zero Contact' Trailer
Anthony Hopkins, Aleks Paunovic, and Chris Brochu in Zero Contact (2022)
"I always expected great things of this world..." Lionsgate has debuted another new trailer for the mystery thriller, wacky sci-fi project called Zero Contact, described as one of the very first Nft movies. We already wrote about this film last year, as they tried to release it on an Nft viewing platform (I don't think anyone watched it). Zero Contact follows five characters all over the world, connected only by their devotion to the late founder and tech titan Finley Hart, played by Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins. Upon his death, five remote agents — including his son — are contacted by a mysterious A.I. entity to reactivate the initiative, which may enable time travel. As sinister events transpire at each of their homes, they must decide whether entering their passwords will save the world... or destroy it. Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 10 Review: The Original Sinners
Image
This Snowpiercer review contains spoilers.

Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 10

Three different philosophies are all battling for control on Snowpiercer. Wilford and his hardcore supporters (and people too afraid to cross him) are in the middle, ready to take advantage of any openings. Melanie and her supporters are preparing to keep the train moving along the tracks in the hopes that the future will be brighter (and less of a risky trip). Finally, there’s Layton and his New Eden truthers, who are willing to risk things now in the hopes of more immediate returns on their gamble. It’s headed for war, with a lot of innocent people, like Roche’s brakemen and the Second Class passengers who make things work, trapped in the middle.

It seems as though there are a lot of people caught in the middle. Layton sold everyone a bill of goods after a fashion; he said...

‘Puppet Killer’ VOD Review
Image
Stars: Aleks Paunovic, Lee Majdoub, Lisa Durupt, Richard Harmon, Gigi Saul Guerrero, Kyle Cassie, Geoff Gustafson, Beverley Elliott, Johannah Newmarch | Written by Kevin Mosley | Directed by Lisa Ovies

Of course, horror is well known for having killer puppets. Depending on how you define ‘puppet’, there’s been Chucky, Annabelle, Jigsaw and others in films like Poltergeist, Krampus and Dolls. Puppet Killer is the first I remember to feature a fluffy pink puppet though.

Hat puppet and it’s owner are big horror movie fans though and so obviously end up in a cabin in the woods with a murderer (guess who) out to kill the group of friends staying there. It’s predictable but it’s supposed to be. This is a movie clearly made by people who like their old school horror movies, and as this one is a comedy, they have some fun with it and the usual horror movie clichés.

Hailee Steinfeld on Joining the MCU in ‘Hawkeye’: ‘Kate Bishop Is a Character I Would’ve Loved to Have Had Growing Up’
Image
Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner brought some holiday cheer to Hollywood Blvd. on Wednesday night for the launch of their new Disney plus series “Hawkeye.”

The dress code for the event was “Marvel holiday chic” and guests were certainly feeling festive, with fans rocking a mix of Christmas sweaters and Santa hats as well as Hawkeye and Kate Bishop costumes and bows and arrows.

The fabulously festive red carpet event was a warm welcome for Steinfeld, who joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old who idolizes Hawkeye (and is a pretty impressive archer herself), becoming his superhero trainee over the course of the six-episode series.

“It’s really a privilege to be able to play a character that could in any way possibly inspire anyone,” Steinfeld told Variety about embodying the beloved comic character.

“Kate Bishop is a character that I would have loved to have...

The comedy-drama, billed as “anti-historical,” satirizes the story of Catherine the Great, Empress of All Russia. Elle Fanning stars as Catherine in the series, which charts Catherine’s rise to power as well as her marriage to Emperor Peter III (Nicholas Hoult). Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Bayo Gbadamosi and Belinda Bromilow also star.

Consisting of 10 episodes, Season 2 will see Catherine coup Peter and take the throne for herself, after which she must fight everyone in her life to bring the ideology of the Age of the Enlightenment to her reluctant country. Enderby Entertainment’s Pandemic Film ‘Zero Contact’ To Premiere On New Nft Platform Vuele; Watch The Trailer – Update
Image
Updated with trailer and launch date. The trailer for Zero Contact, a film starring Anthony Hopkins that will premiere via a new non-fungible token platform Vuele.

In addition to the trailer (watch it above), Vuele said it will premiere the film, which follows Hopkins’ Oscar win last spring for The Father, via several Nft “drops” beginning September 24. The tagline of the trailer describes Zero Contact as “the world’s first feature film Nft event,” though the space has drawn a crush of interest from a range of film and entertainment players lately.

Chris Brochu has also been announced as part of the film’s cast.

Previously:

Enderby Entertainment’s pandemic pic Zero Contact (formerly called 92) with Anthony Hopkins will premiere on new Nft platform Vuele later this summer, possibly the first time a feature-length film — versus, say, a basketball highlight clip — is offered for sale as a so-called non-fungible token.
