There are many rumors swirling as to the future of films in the Star Wars franchise. Many are wondering if the characters from the sequel trilogy will return in either cameos or stand-alone films. From Daisy Ridley to Oscar Isaac, there are many actors in the Star Wars franchise who have also been the subject of much speculation.
One actor from the final film in the Skywalker Saga is Keri Russell. The actress played Zori Bliss, a spice runner and one-time former associate of the main character, Poe Dameron, in The Rise of Skywalker.
The character was clouded in mystery with a cool look and design, but also displayed human moments and was one of the heroes towards the end of the film. Russell added to the mystery of the character and added depth to her, despite having only one moment in the film where you could see the actress's eyes.

If you turned on the television earlier this year, you may have tuned in to watch Sterling K. Brown fighting to save what he thought was left of his country from the selfish interests of a power hungry billionaire in Hulu’s Paradise.
Perhaps, before today’s Independence Day, you also caught Zero Day, in which Robert De Niro plays a former president leading an investigation into a devastating nationwide cyberattack, ultimately uncovering a conspiracy against the American people involving key leaders from across the political spectrum. There are different kinds of stardom. There's the level of fame one achieves by simply being newsworthy for whatever reason in their chosen field, there's the crossover success one attains by appealing to millions of people from different demographics, and then there's the supernova stardom that makes musicians want to become actors, actors become musicians, and athletes become both (typically to their detriment).
As the world entered the 21st century, there were few people more famous than Britney Spears. The teen idol had knocked out two multi-platinum albums, "... Baby One More Time" and "Oops! ... I Did It Again," and caused something of a scandal with her sexy schoolgirl music video for the title track of the former. The provocation worked sensationally in her favor: The public was obsessed with Spears, which led to her landing a hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live" and, predictably, the starring role in a feature film.

Looks like Dance Mom will boogie all the way to the Emmy podium.
Julianne Nicholson, who played the joyous (and drug-addicted) character on Hacks Season 4, now leads the Best Comedy Guest Actress race, taking down longtime frontrunner Jamie Lee Curtis for The Bear, who won last year. Nicholson's Dance Mom, aka Mary Alice, was recruited by Paul W. Downs' Jimmy and Megan Stalter's Kayla to appear on Late Night With Deborah Vance as a way for the talk show-within-a-show to gain a younger audience. At first, Jean Smart's Deborah was hesitant to let the untested woman take the stage, until she realized it would annoy Hannah Einbinder's Ava, and then all bets were off.
There's a new Hacks tonight, but I have not yet recovered from Julianne Nicholson dancing to Katy Perry's "Lifetimes" as Dance Mom in last week's episode. pic.twitter.com/SH3OPittFI

26 years later, Keri Russell laughs about the backlash that sparked from her haircut on Felicity.Created by J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves, Felicity aired from 1998-2002 on The WB. Russell toplined the college-age drama as Felicity Porter, who navigates life and love as she attends the fictional "University of New York." On Imagine Entertainment's Instagram, Keri Russell recalls in amusement at how Felicity's haircut was an idea presented to her by J.J. Abrams. The showrunner for Netflix's House of Cards replacement revealed that the twist ending to the season 2 finale of the Emmy-nominated political thriller series originally came off as "ridiculous" and "dumb." Since Netflix's seven-time Emmy winner House of Cards concluded after six seasons in 2018, the streaming giant has been looking to film that gap in its original content for the political drama genre. Classic TV shows such as The West Wing and Veep remain among some of the best political drama series ever made. All signs point to Netflix finally finding its House of Cards replacement with The Diplomat.
In a recent interview with Next Best Picture, The Diplomat creator and showrunner Debora Cahn opened up about what it was like crafting a modern political drama for Netflix centered around Keri Russell's character. She revealed that The Diplomat season 2, which ended with a stunning and game-changing cliffhanger in which one key character abruptly dies,...

The Severance reverence is no joke. Upon its release in 2022, the Apple TV+ show about the separation of work and home life became a slow-burn sensation, cultivating a rabid online fan to go with glowing reviews. Masterminded by former office drone Dan Erickson and helmed by Ben Stiller, that first season of Severance was celebrated by the TV Academy with 14 Emmy nominations, scoring wins for Main Title Design and Original Main Title Theme Song.
Not too shabby. But now, in Season 2, Severance enters Emmy season as the show to beat. Here's how we expect the sophomore series to improve upon its nominations at the 2025 Emmys, vaulting into near-record-setting territory.

Variety’s “Actors on Actors” Season 22 was the franchise’s most successful social campaign ever for an Emmys season.
The video series, which pairs actors in conversation with one another to discuss the top contenders of awards season, drew 98.2 million views across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X. The total viewership numbers exceed the figure for last year’s “Actors on Actors” for the Emmys season. The social campaign was spearheaded by Harper Mays, Variety’s social media coordinator, with key contributions from Abigail Lee, Variety’s social media and editorial intern.

Amidst the swirl of political twists and turns on Netflix's The Diplomat, the Debora Cahn-created series is also ripe with emotional shockers. The romance between CIA station chief Eidra Park (Ali Ahn) and the U.S. deputy chief of mission Stuart Heyford (Ato Essandoh) crashed and burned, but ripples of feelings continue. And, of course, U.S. Diplomat Kate Wyler's (Keri Russell) relationship with her sly husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) is as complicated as any world power strife, so her very real attraction to the U.K. Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi) — which Hal is very aware of — is just adding fuel to the fire.
That said, so far, Kate and Dennison have yet to take major romantic steps, and Gyasi feels the audience's pain, given he's the guy playing Dennison's longing and yearning even after the pair listens to their heads and not their hearts...

Conspiracies, political intrigue, and a lone agent who sets out not only to stop the bad guys but save the country. It's a tried-and-true formula, and maybe that's why "The Night Agent" has been such a big hit for Netflix (even though they almost turned it down). The series follows in the footsteps of many political thriller TV shows, as audiences partake in the journey of Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), who becomes entangled in a far-reaching conspiracy about a mole within the United States government.
Fans reacted overwhelmingly positive to the series, with the first season remaining one of the most-watched Netflix seasons of all time. Season 2 didn't disappoint when it came out in 2025, garnering 13.9 million views within its first four days. All of this is to say that it's not too surprising that season 3 of "The Night Agent" is in the works. However, if you're looking for something similar...

The Diplomat finally has a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated third season!
In season three, Ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want. She just accused Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job. But now the President is dead, Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) may have inadvertently killed him, and Grace Penn is leader of the free world. None of this slows Hal’s campaign to land Kate the vice presidency. Kate steps into a role she never wanted, with a freedom she never expected, an increasingly complicated friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi), and an unnerving bond with First Gentleman Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford).

This leaves Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) in charge, despite Kate confronting her about her role in the terrorist attack from season 1. It means her and Hal (Rufus Sewell) are going to have even greater challenges as they seek to bring the now-President to justice.
Now, Netflix has released a new trailer for The Diplomat season 3, teasing Janney's reunion with her former co-star on TheWest Wing, Bradley Whitford. Whitford is built up as he arrives, portraying Grace's husband, Todd Penn. There are some moments of tension between all four characters, including Kate and Hal walking seriously to an unknown location.

“The Diplomat” is getting another boost of star power: The buzzy political drama brings Bradley Whitford into the fold for a “West Wing” reunion with Allison Janney, whose character was the catalyst for the jaw-dropping events in Season 2.
Keri Russell, of course, is back as Ambassador Kate Wyler, with Rufus Sewell as her fixer husband who just might have made international relations even worse. The Season 3 synopsis reads: “Ambassador Kate Wyler (Russell) lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want. She just accused Vice President Grace Penn (Janney) of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job. But now the President is dead, Kate’s husband Hal (Sewell) may have inadvertently killed him, and Grace Penn is leader of the free world. The season three teaser, which Netflix dropped today, features the first extended look at Bradley Whitford’s role as first gentleman Todd Penn, husband to Allison Janney’s Grace Penn, who viewers learned in the closing moments of season two was on the verge of becoming president after President Rayburn (Michael McKean) died.
In the preview, which reveals that the eight-episode season three will drop this fall, Todd is shown being led into an office before he and his wife hug. The series of short clips also shows Keri Russell’s Kate Wyler running while on the phone, seemingly in the moments after season two’s jaw-dropping finale, as well as Todd and Kate in a pool together, looking warily across the water. “The Diplomat” or “The West Wing?”
Netflix debuted the first teaser for “The Diplomat” Season 3, and it’s a reunion for “West Wing” stars Bradley Whitford and Allison Janney, who play husband and wife in the Netflix drama series.
In the first glimpse at Whitford, who joins Season 3 as the husband of Janney’s Grace Penn, Whitford can be seen embracing Grace after the traumatic events of the Season 2 finale, which saw the president die from a sudden heart attack, making Grace the next president of the U.S.
Grace, Kate (Keri Russell) and Hal (Rufus Sewell) are quickly transported back home to U.S. soil given the president’s death, and eventually meet up with Whitford’s Todd Penn, who has now become the first gentleman of the U.S.
“How was everyone’s stay at the office?” Todd said in the trailer, provoking a glare from Kate.

Ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) probably thought that things would get easier once she solved the mystery surrounding the bombing of a British aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf.
In reality, she now only finds herself in a more precarious position. Netflix released a trailer on Thursday that gives a glimpse into the realities of Kate’s situation now that she’s accused Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job.
The President is dead, which may or may not be the fault of Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell), and Penn has just taken over as Commander in Chief. But, apparently, that hasn’t deterred Hal from trying to win Kate the vice presidency.
The Season 3 trailer also teases a complicated relationship between Kate and newcomer, First Gentleman Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford).

One of the elements of Netflix's The Diplomat that lends itself to being an addictive drama is how the show juggles huge political turmoil alongside relationship drama and often comedic complications for the core characters. Case in point, Stuart Heyford (Ato Essandoh), the deputy chief of mission of the U.S. embassy in London. Besides his duties being the right hand for U.S. ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell), Stuart had a tumultuous second season.
After surviving the Season 1 finale explosion, he recovered enough to return to work and randomly met a woman (Adrienne Warren) with whom he hooked up, only to find out there was nothing random about it all. His ex-girlfriend Eidra (Ali Ahn), the CIA station chief, set it all up to ensure he was ready to come back to his job.

Casting director Julie Schubert might work so well with actors because she originally thought she wanted to be one, even going to college in New York to study the craft. “I quickly realized that I was absolutely terrible at it — like miserable — but I still wanted to work in the industry,” she reveals. In 2000, she won in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as C.J. Cregg on The West Wing. She'd later add three more trophies — two for Mom and one for Masters of Sex.

Niecy Nash-Betts has enjoyed an acclaimed run of dramatic roles – including her Emmy-winning turn in “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” — but she wants to remind audiences that she’s comedian, too.
“I literally just called my team and said, ‘I think people forgot I’m funny.’ Every role I get, I’m crying. I’m falling out. I’m perturbed. I’m a funny girl too, so I’m out here in the streets trying to remind people,” Nash-Betts explained during The Hollywood Reporter’s Drama Actress Roundtable.

Tubiis known for being the ultimate streaming site for free movies and television shows. While reality TV, comedies, romance, horror, and more may be the most popular genres, there are some people who value the streamer's ability to add all kinds of productions, even less popular ones. In June, there are a few history-inspired films coming to Tubi, including Matthew McConaughey's Free State of Jones. The 2016 war movie was one of the year's most divisive films, with some critics calling it powerful and others pointing out some inaccuracies in its storytelling. Whether you enjoyed the film or not, you'll get a chance to update your opinion on McConaughey's performance and the movie's plot while watching it on Tubi.
Free State of Jones is inspired by the life of Southern Unionist Newton Knight, who is said to have led a successful revolt against the Confederacy in Jones County, Mississippi during the American Civil War.

Tom Cruise and his daredevil sensibilities may be the face of "Mission: Impossible," but the series also owes a great debt to its women. As the films kept expanding their ensembles, they accumulated a murderer's row of female talent like Katy O'Brian, Vanessa Kirby, Michelle Monaghan, Thandiwe Newton, Paula Patton, Maggie Q, Vanessa Redgrave, Keri Russell, and the Academy Award-nominated Angela Bassett. When "Rogue Nation" came around, Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa Faust became an instant fan favorite who stuck around for three incredible adventures.
It felt like such a gift on behalf of "Dead Reckoning," one of the best "Mission: Impossible" movies, to not only feature Ferguson, but also add two more incredible women to join in on the fun. Exactly three months ago, The Pitt was in 10th place for Best Drama Series; its vital signs have been steadily improving ever since.
By March, the Max medical procedural had jumped up to sixth place in Gold Derby's odds, and by April it was in the top four. Now, as word of mouth continues to grow, The Pitt has achieved its highest placement yet at No. 2, behind only the long-standing predictions leader, Severance.
The Pitt stars Emmy frontrunner Noah Wyle as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, a senior attending physician who works a 15-hour shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Each episode unfolds hourly in real time. Robby's fellow staff members include Taylor Dearden's Melissa "Mel" King, Katherine Lanasa's Dana Evans, Patrick Ball's Frank Langdon, and Shawn Hatosy's Dr. Jack Abbott.
While The Pitt gives viewers a nostalgic throwback feel to traditional broadcast dramas, Severance is celebrated...

With its lush gardens and old-world charm, the Huntington Library in the Los Angeles suburb of San Marino provided a stately backdrop for a conversation on nuclear diplomacy and behind-the-scenes political intrigue, as Netflix hosted a special screening and panel for its Emmy-, Golden Globe-, and Screen Actors Guild-nominated political thriller The Diplomat. But despite the tranquil setting, even the cast remained somewhat shellshocked by the explosive Season 2 finale.
“I read the script and thought, ‘What is happening?’” Allison Janney recalled, describing how she discovered the finale’s jaw-dropping twist — President Rayburn (Michael McKean) drops dead mid-meeting after an altercation with Hal (Rufus Sewell), launching Janney’s character, Vice President Grace Penn, into the Oval Office and stunning the cast. “I don’t think she expected to become president of the United States.”

Last week, HBO announced that The Last of Us scene-stealer Kaitlyn Dever would be campaigning as a guest star, as opposed to a supporting actress, for the zombie apocalypse drama. That left an opening in Gold Derby's Best Drama Supporting Actress Emmy odds that has since been filled by ... drumroll, please ... her costar Isabela Merced.
Dever plays Abby, a soldier who seeks revenge against Joel (Pedro Pascal) in Season 2 for the death of her father in Season 1. Since Dever has only appeared in two episodes (so far), she's eligible to compete as a guest star for The Last of Us because of the TV Academy's "less than 50 percent" ruling. The 28-year-old will also be on the Emmy ballot for Apple Cider Vinegar in Best Limited Series/Movie Actress.

That deep sigh you just heard? Yeah, that was probably Kate Wyler somewhere in London realizing that she's in for another round of chaos. But that celebration you're hearing? That's millions of fans of Netflix's hit political drama series The Diplomat cheering on the exciting news that the streamer just renewed the show for season 4. Sorry, Kate... Your stress is our entertainment!
The Diplomat season 4 was renewed during Netflix's Upfront presentation on May 14, which saw another seven Netflix shows renewed, including six total scripted original series and two unscripted series confirmed for new seasons. Considering its success with fans and its critical acclaim, it's no wonder that Netflix opted to renew one of its hands-down best series ever.
The season 4 renewal comes months before season 3 has even premiered on Netflix, though the streamer also revealed season 3 drops sometime this fall. Thankfully, filming on season 3 has already wrapped earlier this spring,...

Though we still don't have an exact date for when The Diplomat Season 3 will premiere, Netflix has complete confidence that it will be a hit, as they've already renewed the popular political thriller for another season. Debuting back in 2023, The Diplomat stars Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, the new United States ambassador to the United Kingdom who works to defuse an international crisis, forge strategic alliances and adjust to her new place in the spotlight.
News of The Diplomat Season 4 was announced yesterday during Upfront presentations in New York by Bela Bajaria, Chief Content Officer for Netflix. There's no word yet on when it might head into production, but given the fact that Season 3 is expected to premiere in the fall, it could be soon, as the series has managed to maintain a steady pace of releasing one season a year rather than taking lengthy breaks like some other Netflix shows.
