Ever since whispers of some tension on the set of Avengers: Doomsday began to circulate online, fans have been speculating about which cast members might be involved. A lot of people know the names of the actors in question, but nobody wants to be the first to spill the tea.

John Rocha shared some updates on his YouTube channel last night, and while he declined to mention any names - just to be clear, it was not Robert Downey Jr. and Ryan Reynolds - he did provide a few more details on what is said to have gone down.

It seems one actor said something that made their co-star very upset.

Avengers: Doomsday had the chance to bring back the rumored couple Zoë Kravitz and Harry Styles, but alas, both their characters are slated to meet a similar fate. According to reports, characters from Eternals are not part of the plans for the MCU’s future (via The Cosmic Circus), and the team won’t appear to fight Doctor Doom.

As a result, Styles, who debuted as Starfox in the post-credits scene of the Chloe Zhao-directed movie, is not expected to reprise his role in future projects such as Doomsday. Similarly, Kravitz, who played a mutant, wasn’t called back for the movie despite Doomsday bringing back several Fox-era X-Men characters.

While there are conflicting reports out there regarding Ryan Reynolds' return as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday, it seems likely that he will suit up as the Merc with the Mouth again in both that and Avengers: Secret Wars.

And now, the smoke has cleared. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is confirmed to return as Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday. However, the report makes it explicitly clear:

Don’t expect him to actually be joining the Avengers team.

Sources tell us that they haven’t seen Reynolds on set in London, and he isn’t set to appear in the next two Avengers movie. Doomsday, which hits cinemas during the Christmas season 2026, is set to star a who’s who of Marvel Cinematic Universe stars/characters, not just from the new movies such as Thunderbolts* and Fantastic Four: First Steps, but oldies from the 20th Century Fox/Marvel movies, i.e. Patrick Stewart aka Charles Xavier (didn’t he die in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness?), Ian McKellen aka Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden aka Cyclops and Kelsey Grammer as Beast.

Industry insiders have now confirmed that Ryan Reynolds will appear as Deadpool in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, ending months of online speculation and making his recent Instagram tease far more than just a clever troll. Late Monday night/early Tuesday morning, Reynolds posted a picture of the Avengers logo without comment, sparking a frenzy of fan theories. Up until now, his absence from the official cast announcement had puzzled many, especially considering the record-breaking $1.3 billion global haul for Deadpool & Wolverine.

Everyone knows Ryan Reynolds is a cheeky scamp among Hollywood’s most beloved entertainers. Still, is the Canadian darling teasing something special for Marvel’s upcoming event film Avengers: Doomsday? Yesterday, Reynolds posted a cryptic image of the Avengers logo with an anarchy symbol over the original lettering to his Instagram account. Is Ryan Reynolds implying that Deadpool is coming to Avengers: Doomsday? That would be my first guess.

Filming has been underway on Avengers: Doomsday in the UK since April, and while things have been fairly quiet over the past few weeks (the set photos ceased when shooting moved indoors), that doesn't mean everything is running smoothly behind-the-scenes.

During this week's episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider shared what he's been hearing about the Doomsday shoot, most notably in regard to star Robert Downey Jr. and what led to Marvel/Disney planning three weeks of reshoots.

According to Sneider, the original plan was to use a stand-in for a lot of Downey's scenes - until the actor decided that it simply wasn't working out.

"They had a body double and a face double, and Robert would stand outside the scene reading the lines. And apparently, after two or three weeks, he said, 'This isn't working. I want to shoot the whole thing with me in the suit.

It was reported long ago that the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday was about to complete its filming in the UK, but the schedule may have been extended a little after the rumor of an unplanned reshoot popped up.

On The Hot Mic Podcast with John Rocha, industry insider Jeff Sneider claimed that he has heard reports of reshoots initiated by Robert Downey Jr. for his part in the upcoming film. Sneider said:

They had to reshoot for three weeks, they reshot three weeks worth of material, because appearantly, they had an actor standing in for Downey Jr. in the suit. They had a body double… And apparently after two or three weeks he was like, “This isn’t, working. I want to reshoot everything with me in the suit.”

These reshoots are reportedly being done due to the unsatisfactory performance his two body doubles have provided in Doctor Doom in his stead.
