Brother of Alan Osmond, Jay Osmond, James A. Osmond, Merrill Osmond, Wayne Osmond, Marie Osmond, Tom Osmond, and Virl Osmond. All nine Osmond siblings studied karate under Chuck Norris.

Became a first-time grandfather on August 21, 2005, when his second son Jeremy Osmond and his wife Melisa Osmond had Dylan Osmond. He weighed 7 lb. 9 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. He and his family welcomed a granddaughter, Emery, on February 24, 2008. This is the first girl born into his immediate family, as he is father to five boys.

Became close friends with Michael Jackson in the early 1970's while they both were teen stars performing with their brothers. The two remained close until Jackson's death in 2009.

He played the lead role as Joseph in the North American tour of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat".

In November 2009 he won American reality TV show Dancing with the Stars (2005) with dancing partner Kym Johnson Herjavec.

Appeared in one of the all-time monumental flops on Broadway, the 1982 revival of George M. Cohan's "Little Johnny Jones" (the show that James Cagney's Oscar-winning Cohan performs while singing "Yankee Doodle Dandy" in the eponymous 1942 film), which was pitifully old-fashioned and out-of-date, even in those early years of Reaganism. The show opened at the Alvin Theatre on March 21, 1982 after 29 previews and closed that same day for a total of one (1) performance. Only those shows that close without ever having officially opened (that is, during previews) have done worse.

His first appearance was on TV's The Andy Williams Show (1962) on December 10, 1963, one day after his sixth birthday.

The Osmonds were awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for recording at 7080 Hollywood Blvd.

Is 22 months older than sister Marie Osmond.

His sons are Donald Clark Osmond, Jr. (born July 31, 1979), Jeremy James Osmond (born June 8, 1981), Brandon Michael Osmond (born January 29, 1985), Christopher Glenn Osmond (born December 12, 1990), and Joshua Davis Osmond (born February 16, 1998).

In 2019, Donny competed on the premier season of "The MaskedSinger." As The Peacock, Donny made it to the finale, beating third-place finisher Gladys Knight and coming in second to winner T-Pain. Donny's debut performance of "The Greatest Show" from "The Greatest Showman" is still considered one of the best performances in the show's history.

His great-great-great grandparents were from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. He is of English, Welsh, Scottish, one eighth Danish, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, Swiss-German, German, and Dutch ancestry.

On July 11, 2011, he won an international radio award. That was also the same day, during his show with sister Marie Osmond, that he stepped on her foot and almost broke it.

Donny's son, Chris, competed on Season 2 of "Claim to Fame." Out of 12 contestants, Chris made the finale, coming in third to Monay Brooks (JB Smoove's daughter) and winner Gabriel Cannon (Nick Cannon's younger brother).
