She is the national spokesperson for Lupus, since her younger sister, Heather, died of the disease at age 19 in 1998.

When she was cast in Corky, un adolescent pas comme les autres (1989), she developed an eating disorder. She was convinced by Tracey Gold, who had her own battles with anorexia, to seek help.
