Sean “Diddy” Combs scored a major legal victory this week as he managed to avoid the most serious of the sex trafficking and racketeering allegations in his criminal trial, leaving those in the music business questioning how an industry with a notoriously murky past in handling abusive behavior is going to move forward.

“I’m tired of living in a world where money, power, misogyny and patriarchy continues to win,” Tiffany Red, a prominent music industry advocate and a close friend of Cassie Ventura’s wrote on Instagram after the verdict went out Wednesday.

The chances of Combs’ image itself being significantly rehabilitated seems slim, given that violent, abusive behavior was caught on camera and aired to millions of people around the world. And Combs still faces a litany of civil suits that will continue to follow him for the foreseeable future. Whatever career he has to return to comes with a significant asterisk.

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the rap mogul who went on trial beginning in May over numerous charges – including sex trafficking and prostitution – has been found not guilty on charges of said trafficking and racketeering, although he was found guilty on two charges related to transportation with intention of prostitution.

Just under two months after Sean Combs went to trial, the Grammy-winning Bad Boy Records founder and rapper, came out mostly victorious. Still, while Combs dodged a minimum 15-year sentence in the sex trafficking charge, the government (the trial is a federal one and so deemed United States of America v. Sean Combs) is likely seeking a maximum of 20 years in prison. As of now, it has been advised that Sean Combs remain in jail until his hearing.

As for more specific counts, Sean Combs was found guilty under the Mann Act of transportation of both one-time partner Casandra Ventura and “Jane”, another accuser.

The prosecution is about to wrap up its case during the ongoing trial against P Diddy at the Manhattan Federal Court. During the court proceedings, many celebrities were mentioned by name. However, Cassie Ventura, Kid Cudi, and Dawn Richard were the only celebrities who testified in court. Nicole Blank Becker, who represented R. Kelly, explained why the prosecution did not bring more celebrities to the stand.

Diddy is facing five counts of serious charges, including one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of s*x trafficking, and two counts of transportation to engage in pr*stitution. If charged, the hip-hop mogul is looking at life in prison.

Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang has reacted to The White Lotus actress Aimee Lou Wood's criticism of the sketch show. Wood took issue with a White Lotus parody that made fun of her appearance and teeth on the April 12 episode.

Wood shared multiple comments from fans after SNL cast member Sarah Sherman impersonated her in pre-taped sketch "The White Potus," where the White Lotus star's teeth were used for a gag about fluoride in drinking water. She subsequently complained that the joke was "mean and unfunny."

Concordia Studio has selected four filmmakers for its 2025 Documentary Filmmaker Fellowship, a prestigious artist development program cultivated within the independent film and television production studio co-founded by Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim.

Harvey Weinstein appeared in Manhattan court Wednesday, as his attorneys and prosecutors laid out a preview of what may happen at his April trial.

Judge Curtis J. Farber ruled on several motions ahead of the trial, saying that neither side can use evidence or arguments related to the reversal of Weinstein’s 2020 conviction nor the jury’s decision to acquit Weinstein on certain charges at that time. Weinstein’s health condition will not be allowed to be brought up in court, unless he testifies on the stand.

Speaking of “Abracadabra,” Lady Gaga may have pulled off the ultimate “Saturday Night Live” magic trick during her two musical numbers in this week’s episode: dancing furiously and singing live.

That combination is not for every “SNL” musical guest, let alone one who is also expending energy as a host who’s appearing in nearly every sketch in the show. But Gaga pulled it off with “Killah” aplomb … if that’s not a phrase that would offend the catchy-superlative-averse characters in the closing “No More Slay” skit.

Director Ezra Edelman is speaking out against the reign of estate-approved celebrity documentaries. The Oscar- and Emmy-winning “O.J: Made In America” director said during a recent appearance on the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast in the below video that Netflix was “afraid” to debut his six-part, nine-hour docuseries about “Purple Rain” singer Prince amid disputes with the late musician’s estate.

The New York Times previously reported that Edelman’s long-gestating docuseries was blocked by Prince’s estate. The project, titled “The Book of Prince,” was officially canceled in early February after Edelman spent five years making it. Now, instead of “The Book of Prince,” Netflix and the Prince estate are working on a new, separate documentary.

“I’m not Prince, but I worked really hard making something, and now my art is being stifled and thrown away,” Edelman said of his shelved docuseries. “This is the thing I just find galling.

Both include publicity rights which cover an individual’s name (Christopher Wallace was B.I.G.’s legal name but he also went by Biggie Smalls and, colloquially, Biggie), image, voice and other identifiable characteristics like key verses in lyrics.
