Jodie Foster is known for being picky, in the best way. She’s one of Hollywood’s sharpest talents, she doesn’t just say yes to any script that lands on her desk. That’s why it raised more than a few eyebrows when she kept turning down Wes Anderson, the king of quirky cinema, while saying yes to Siesta, a totally bonkers 1987 film that’s still confusing people to this day.
Anderson recently opened up about how many times he tried (and failed) to cast her. Meanwhile, Siesta remains one of those head-scratching moments in Foster’s otherwise quite impressive resume.

Roger Moore’s final 007 movie, 1985’s A View To A Kill, is a bit of a Marmite outing even for James Bond fans – but is the film in a class of its own?.
This feature contains moderate spoilers for A View To A Kill.
“Ha ha, you amuse me, Mr Bond.”
“It’s not mutual.”
In a series as long and variable in quality as the James Bond franchise, we all have our biases as fans. For many, the highly subjective distinction between “good film” and “good Bond film” might go in either direction towards the modern Daniel Craig films or the earliest Sean Connery adventures. And for some of us, it may just be that marathoning Roger Moore’s Bond films in order does A View To A Kill absolutely no favours in either category.
As expected at this stage, the film has very little in common with Ian Fleming’s 1960 short story,...

Future director Alex Cox moved from his native England to Los Angeles in 1977 because he found the British film scene to be lacking. While attending UCLA, he made his first short, "Edge City," a bitter, talky, semi-surrealist film about struggling artists wandering the uglier parts of the city, having conversations about the nature of artistic success. ("Edge City" is on YouTube.) That short led to a plum deal with Mike Nesmith (of the band The Monkees), who secured over a million dollars for Cox's first feature, 1984's "Repo Man," a seminal film of the punk rock scene and a legit cult phenomenon. "Repo Man" wasn't initially a hit, but its soundtrack (full of L.A. hardcore) sold so well that it was re-released, becoming a financial success.
Cox came to love punk rock, already somewhat embodying its spirit in his outsider view of filmmaking. In 1986, the filmmaker made "Sid and Nancy,...

Who knows you more than a child, ay? And yet not even Prince William – son and heir to King Charles – was able to predict what songs the old man would include in his newly launched playlist.
King pa who? This monarch seemingly loves to jam out like the rest of us. Huh. Who’d have thought. Not William that’s for sure.
Prince William Opens Up About His Father’s Taste In Music During Mentivity House Visit
Have you listened to the songs on King Charles’ Apple Music playlist, titled The King’s Music Room?
Well, if you have maybe your opinions about the monarch’s taste in music may reflect William’s.
It’s not a new thing that William could totally charm any room he’s in, and it was no different during his Mentivity House visit, where he got to play video games with some young people.

I officially became one of the 1,200 music industry members comprising the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s voting body in 2022 — the year that my long-snubbed favorite childhood band just so happened to be on the ballot for the first time. I could not check that “Duran Duran” box fast enough. And a few months later, there I was at Los Angeles’s Microsoft Theatre, excitedly cheering them on as they opened the Rock Hall ceremony and were inducted alongside the likes of Dolly Parton, Judas Priest, and Eminem.
Since then, I have not always gotten my way when it comes to the Hall’s inductions. But as a voter, I still take the responsibility seriously… well, most of the time, at least.
This year’s batch of 14 contenders is solid — it’s difficult to make a compelling argument for why nominees like Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Maná, Phish, or the...

Horror movies are now product, and most of them are so devoted to goosing the audience — jump scares, demons nestled within demons — that it’s actually rare to see a horror film of the week that’s a flat-out, old-school dud. But “The Woman in the Yard” comes pretty close. It’s like a haunted-house movie with no tricks up its sleeve.
It opens with the central character, Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler), laying in bed watching a phone video of her husband, David (Russell Hornsby), as he talks about the dream he had, where the farmhouse they’re living in and renovating was all finished. The reality is grimmer. David is nowhere to be seen, and as Ramona forces herself to get out of bed, looking depressed enough to join the damned, we see that she’s wearing a brace that runs the length of her broken leg. We put two...

Millennials far and wide were sure to gasp with excitement upon hearing that the Wayans brothers were rebooting the Scary Movie franchise. And this is no joke, folks. It's really happening, with a confirmed theatrical release date and all. Surely, such enticing news has led fans to ponder other details, such as: Who else from the beloved cast will be returning? In addition to leading-lady Anna Faris, there was also scene-stealer Regina Hall, playing Faris' bestie in the wild and wacky horror-parody films. The celebrated actress has kept busy in a plethora of other films since those flicks were released, including Searchlight Pictures' upcoming O'Dessa. Hall took time while promoting her new fantasy musical to weigh in on the Wayans brothers' Scary Movie revival as well — and whether they'll bring back Hall's beloved Brenda character.

Lady Gaga was recognized with the Innovator Award at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards and delivered a powerful message.
During her acceptance speech, the “Abracadabra” singer thanked many people that made her the artist that she is today, including her two Italian-American grandmothers.
“They didn’t invent technology or art, they invented possibility, shaping the future with nothing more than their minds,” Gaga said, accepting her award. “Those women, my ancestors, they’re the greatest innovators that I’ve ever known.”
The singer also named a whole list of artists that have inspired her through the years including, David Bowie, Grace Jones, Carole King, Elton John, Lady Starlight, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Duke Ellington, and Char.

While many streaming services are shrinking their once vast catalogs of classic films in favor of chasing original content, Tubi is becoming an increasingly attractive option. Although it's a free service, it has a surprisingly well-rounded collection of older films, especially in the horror department. While you may not always be able to find the most recent horror films fresh from their theatrical run (although they do have some newer movies), they have a well-curated selection of offerings that run across several different subgenres.
It doesn't matter whether you're a fan of zombie films, Italian giallo, slashers, or goofy 1980s horror comedies -- Tubi has you covered. And whether you're a horror movie amateur looking to catch up on some classics or a long-standing fan of the genre hoping to find something a little more obscure, there's plenty to catch your eye here. Kate Middleton joined her husband, Prince William, King Charles and Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester yesterday for the annual Commonwealth Day Services.
This Year’s Commonwealth Day Marked The 80th Anniversary Of The End Of World War II
The commemorations marked the 80th centenary of the ending of the Second World War and it was a celebration of the Family of Nations, which is how the Commonwealth is often described.
It was the first time the Princess of Wales attended the event since her cancer treatment. Kate looked radiant and dignified as usual as she walked with William. She was wearing a bold red Catherine Walker Beau Tie coat dress, which featured a fashionable bow.
Her jewelry was also notable as she accessorized with pearl earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana. She also wore the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Japanese pearl choker.

James Bond might be one of cinema's most celebrated heroes, but he's not been without his share of missteps. 007 has now been a staple of pop culture for more than 60 years, ever since 1962's "Dr. No" kicked off cinema's most enduring franchise. But maintaining unwavering quality throughout the decades was always going to be a tall order, even for England's greatest spy. As such, we've seen Bond endure some truly abject moments throughout the decades.
According to IMDb, the worst James Bond movie is "Die Another Day." Pierce Brosnan's swan song as 007 is perpetually vilified for its outright silliness, featuring as it does a central villain who transforms from a Korean general to an insufferable British character. But others might well argue that Daniel Craig's tenure in the tux was an astounding demonstration of diminishing returns, ending with...

At Sunday’s 2025 Grammys at Crypto.com Arena, Janelle Monáe is setting aside her signature black-and-white palette and avant-garde themes in favor of an ensemble that’s equal parts stylish, androgynous and toned down compared to past red-carpet appearances.
That latter decision is undeniably a nod to the L.A. community as it recovers from the devastating impact of the wildfires throughout Los Angeles County. “We pulled things that were more avant-garde, a bit more wacky and out there, but that doesn’t feel like the mindset right now,” Alexandra Mandelkorn, who has worked with Monáe since 2017, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Janelle and I are always on the same page about things, and we’ve talked about this moment in time and how we’re feeling about it. Doing things extra-large or over the top doesn’t feel right.”

This year’s Grammy week will be looking a little different, as the show will take place shortly after Los Angeles was devastated by wildfires in the Pacific Palisades and Altadena. Music’s biggest night will mark the first awards show to take place in L.A. since the tragedy began on Jan. 7, and many of the typical Grammy events have been canceled as the usual players — including Spotify and the major labels — redirect resources to aid wildfire relief efforts.
However, a handful of events will carry on with a charitable component, including the starry Clive Davis party and MusiCares tribute concert. Check out this year’s still-on Grammys celebrations below.

There’s no mistaking Echo Mars for anything but a rock star. It’s in the way they carry themselves through the world, with a quick, confident step and a starchild aura that evokes Bolan, Bowie, and multiple characters from the 1998 film Velvet Goldmine. Skyfall was Daniel Craig's billion-dollar-grossing James Bond film where M (Judi Dench) emerged as the true Bond Girl who became 007's mission to protect. Directed by Sam Mendes, Skyfall was a global box office hit in 2012 that took Daniel Craig's James Bond back to basics. Casino Royale rebooted 007 with Craig and refreshed multiple aspects of his James Bond. Skyfall melded Craig's new style of Bond with some more traditional tropes, and one of them was replacing Judi Dench's M with a male supervisor, Mallory (Ralph Fiennes).
007's Bond Girls have traditionally been romantic foils, and sometimes enemies, of James Bond. Traditionally, a Bond Girl is a beautiful woman who 007 must protect or team up with and becomes his love interest for the duration of a film. Sometimes, Bond Girls can be a villain trying to kill 007, like May Day (Grace Jones) in 1985's A View to a Kill or...

The vampire is a staple of horror films that have sustained longevity since cinema's earliest days. From the ghoulish appearance of Max Shreck in Nosferatu to the sensual pairing of Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt in Interview With the Vampire, these creatures of the night have always found a way to captivate our imaginations in a variety of ways. Whether it's a blood-soaked opera or a timeless tale of love, the vampire can be adapted into a never-ending variety of incarnations. The horror comedy has seen its fair share of vampire offerings, such as Love at First Bite and Dracula: Dead and Loving It.
Currently streaming on Tubi is Vamp, released in 1986, and an entry that seamlessly blends comedy, sensuality, and a strong emphasis on style, making it one of the unique vampire films that one can really sink their fangs into. In a decade full of raucous teen comedies...

Pierce Brosnan can add being a gentleman and a scholar to his list of glowing accomplishments, at least according to Halle Berry. The actress co-starred with Brosnan in his fourth and final outing as James Bond in 2002's Die Another Day, and the actress is heaping praise on the former 007, saying that he "restored" her faith in men.
During a video interview for Wired, Berry gushed about her James Bond co-star in the most positive way. Berry played Bond girl Jinx in 2002's Die Another Day and while she says that "Bond wasn't on my wish list," Berry thoroughly enjoyed her experience on the film, thanks in large part to Brosnan himself.
"He will always be my Bond. I'm a Pierce Brosnan fan. He restored my faith in men on that movie. There couldn't be a human who is more of a gentleman than Pierce Brosnan. Bond wasn't on my wish list,...

The overdose death of Matthew Perry was a shock to anyone who grew up in the 90s watching Friends. Five people were arrested surrounding Matthew Perrys premature death, including a local physician and the actors live-in assistant. Additionally, Erik Fleming, the director of the childrens fantasy film My Brother the Pig, was charged as a middleman in the case. Fleming, who was known to Perry as a TV acquaintance, now faces up to 25 years in his federal case.
It's somewhat of a bizarre coincidence (or another tragic Hollywood downfall) that Fleming was involved in the scheme that killed the '90s star, considering he was once an up-and-coming director in the same decade. Fleming produced the first season of The Surreal Life, which starred Mc Hammer, Corey Feldman, Vince Neil, and others. He directed the bizarre 1995 sci-fi film, which starred a variety of '80s icons, such as Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet,...

It goes without saying that the Roger Moore Era is James Bond's most polarizing period. On one hand, Moore revitalized James Bond himself by giving him a new upbeat and palatable personality. His interpretation of 007 got over so well with audiences that he headlined seven Bond movies, making him the longest-serving Bond actor in terms of output. Additionally, two of Moore's Bond movies are still seen today as two of the best super spy movies of all time. But on the other hand, Moore's campy and comedic approach attracted intense criticism and ridicule. As if to balance his two great Bond movies, two of Moore's movies also went down in history as the worst spy movies ever made.
Despite this messy legacy and whether Bond fans admit it or not, Moore is arguably the most consequential Bond. Without him, Bond wouldn't have become a blockbuster star who dominated the box...

Her brother, Stephan Berwick, announced on Facebook that she died Wednesday following a battle with breast cancer.

Halsey may be best known for her chart-topping success in the music industry but the Grammy nominated singer-songwriter has been dipping her toes into Hollywood for some time. She had a cameo in Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born, appeared in Cameron Crowe’s rocker series Roadies, voiced a lead role as Porsha Crystal in the animated Sing 2 and starred opposite Sydney Sweeney in Tony Tost’s yet-to-be-released crime-western Americana.
But with MaXXXine — the third and final entry in filmmaker Ti West’s horror trilogy from A24 after X and Pearl — Halsey fully takes the plunge into Tinseltown playing Tabby Martin opposite leading lady Mia Goth’s Maxine Minx. The film centers on Maxine who, as the lone survivor of the bloody massacre on a remote Texas property that played out in the original entry X, sets off for Los Angeles in the mid-1980s to pursue her dreams of big-screen stardom.

The protagonist, Shel, has been exposed to advanced technology known as "modules" throughout her life, leading to genetic abnormalities in her and her daughter. While a bit short, the graphic novel features stunning visuals and excellently executed action sequences that showcase Natali's background as a filmmaker and storyboard artist.
It's easier to put people into boxes and define them like food labels than to understand their multitudes; we like to frame 'the self,' despite its illusory boundlessness. On an artistic level, it can be dissonant to see a filmmaker like Michael Mann make a literary sequel to Heat, or a surreal comedian like Tim Heidecker make genuine, catchy pop music. Director Vincenzo Natali is best known for directing great films like Cube, Nothing, Cypher, and Splice, but he began in the industry...

The James Bond franchise revolutionized action cinema in the 1960s when it started with 1962’s Dr. No and stands to this day as one of the longest-running film series in history. From almost the very beginning, Bond movies strive to draw in their audiences with high-octane prologues that run before lush and stylishly rendered title sequences. These pre-title action scenes not only set the tone for the movie right out the gate but, in several instances, are the best sequences within their respective films.
This pre-title sequence tradition began with the franchise’s second movie, 1963’s From Russia with Love. Believe it or not, Dr. No does not actually contain a pre-title action scene and instead dives headfirst into its opening titles. These prologues highlight the classic elements of a spy who always served Her Majesty’s Secret Service faithfully. They also showcase how each of the actors playing Bond...

FKA twigs, the British singer who will star in a reboot of The Crow, has slammed a decision by the UK’s advertising watchdog to ban her semi-nude Calvin Klein ad.
The Advertising Standards Authority ruled that the ad must not appear again in its current form because it portrayed FKA twigs (real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett) as a “stereotypical sexual object.”
In an Instagram post, FKA twigs (Honey Boy) said the ruling displayed “double standards” after “past and current” campaigns featured scantily clad models.
She did not explicitly reference other ads, but recent examples include The Bear star Jeremy Allen White’s Calvin Klein photoshoot, in which he is dressed in nothing but underwear.
“I do not see the ‘stereotypical sexual object’ that they have labelled me,” FKA twigs said. “I see a beautiful strong woman of colour whose incredible body has overcome more pain than you can imagine.
