Huffman's career began in musical theatre, after graduating from Sheridan College. She starred as Cosette in the original Canadian production of Les Miserables, which led her to London to study opera. There she began acting in British TV and film, landing her first lead role opposite Ewan McGregor in the highly-acclaimed mini-series _ "Lipstick on Your Collar" created by Dennis Potter. As a series lead she was nominated twice and won a Gemini Award for her portrayal of heroin-addicted investment banker Ayn Krywarik on Haute finance (1996).

Huffman works in film, TV and theatre in Canada, the US and Europe. She returned to her musical theatre roots, playing the lead role of Donna in the Toronto stage production of "Mamma Mia" for one year. In 2009, she starred in the CBC series Wild Roses (2009), playing the struggling rancher and single mom of three daughters, a role which she was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Dramatic Series at the "Monte-Carlo TV Festival" Internationally honored films that Huffman has starred in include Looking for Leonard (2002) (SXSW, London, Los Angeles, Durban, Montreal International Festivals), De Grot (nominated for the Netherlands Golden Calf), and Three and a Half (2002).

Huffman has made numerous commercials all over the world, including 3 Silver Lion winners. She lives and works in California with her husband and two daughters.
