Full House star Dave Coulier says he’s doing Ok with his cancer treatment, but there have certainly been ups and downs. “I’m feeling good,” the actor told cohost Marla Sokoloff in the January 10 episode of their podcast Full House Rewind. “My hair has not grown back at this time yet. So that’s been a little bit of an adjustment. I realize how much that hair keeps you warm. If I don’t wear a chapeau, it gets a little cold here in Michigan, where I’m at.” He went on: “People who are watching the show or listening to the show, who have been here before, you know that it’s a roller coaster because the side effects have side effects, and then you take a drug to counteract that and this and that. So it’s this constant cocktail, where your body is in fight or flight mode,...

Dave Coulier is sharing an update on his battle with cancer.

The Netflix rom-com The Merry Gentlemen takes the typical Christmas movie blueprint and throws it out the window. Britt Robertson and Agent Carter alum Chad Michael Murray star in the film, which has a feel-good premise: successful dancer Ashley returns home to save her family's business. But there's an edge to the proceedings, as Ashley's plan -- and her budding relationship with local handyman Luke -- heats up very quickly.
Cbr spoke to Robertson and Murray about what drew each of them to The Merry Gentlemen. Robertson discussed what she loved about Ashley, while Murray detailed diving headfirst into the dance sequences required for the movie's all-male revue that gives the Magic Mike films a run for their money. Plus, what was it like to make a Christmas movie that was so atypical?

The last time General Hospital‘s Felix DuBois popped up in Port Charles, he helped pay tribute to the late great head nurse Bobbie Spencer at the character’s memorial service. Netflix's The Merry Gentlemen and Mother of the Bride have three things in common they premiered in 2024, feature Chad Michael Murray, and weren't well received among critics and audiences alike. While the reception of both films is quite disappointing, the good news is that Murray's next movie (a long-awaited Disney sequel starring Lindsay Lohan) will likely be a hit given its hype and precedent. The actor just has to leave The Merry Gentlemen and Mother of the Bride in the past and look ahead to bigger and brighter things.

'Tis the season to be jolly, and Netflix really gave us a lot to be jolly about this year! Beginning with the first week of November, the streamer has released one new original Christmas romantic comedy per week, beginning with Meet Me Next Christmas at the beginning of the month and concluding with Our Little Secret, which was released ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Each of the four movies boast big stars that we all know and love, including Christina Milian, Lacey Chabert, Chad Michael Murray, and Lindsay Lohan. But there are so many more amazing cast members in all of the movies that make them a lovable, magical experience that tops the top 10 most popular movies ranking on Netflix. The Christmas season is the season of nostalgia, there is no doubt about that. Cozy classic movies to get into the Christmas spirit, hot chocolates with tiny marshmallows warmly hugged by whipped cream, fuzzy socks, and ugly Christmas sweaters. It doesnt really get better than this. Or does it?
Netflix seems to have accepted the challenge, as the streaming service showed that maybe it is time to add something new. Something that no one would even think of. Some spice, if you will, and the conversation is not about a gingerbread spice mix. Netflix did just that. The Merry Gentlemen is only one of the new Christmas movies on Netflix which takes on a rather new approach.

Netflix's new Christmas movie with a Magic Mike twist has become their No. 1 film just days after its release. Since 2017, the streaming service has been producing original Christmas movies, starting with A Christmas Prince. Over the years, the streaming platform has established itself as a top destination for holiday films, including The Princess Switch starring Vanessa Hudgens, and The Christmas Chronicles starring Kurt Russell, both in 2018. Last year, one of Netflix's most popular holiday movies was Best. Christmas. Ever!.
In 2024, several of Netflix's Christmas movies have already topped their Global Top 10 chart for the past three weeks. In the first full week of November, Meet Me Next Christmas ranked first on Netflix's Global Top 10 films with 18.1 million views, followed by Lacey Chabert's Hot Frosty the following week with 16 million views. Chad Michael Murray joins the various famous actors starring in Netflix's 2024 Christmas movies with The Merry Gentlemen, which is reminiscent of the actor's former TV show, Gilmore Girls. Murray starred as Tristan DuGray in The WB's successful comedy-drama series about the relationship between a single mother and her teenage daughter. Unfortunately, Murray only appeared in 11 episodes over the course of the first two seasons of Gilmore Girls before he exited the show.
The Merry Gentlemen is just one of many holiday movies coming to Netflix in 2024. Others include Meet Me Next Christmas, Hot Frosty, Our Little Secret (starring Lindsay Lohan), and That Christmas.
Tristan was one of Rory Gilmore's classmates in Gilmore Girls who was also kind of a bully. He would often tease Rory, most notably about her virginity. As the episodes continued, though, romantic tension between Rory and Tristan began to form, making him a...

Peter Sullivan’s “The Merry Gentlemen” (2024) is an entirely bland, uncharacteristic Christmas glossy romance. It’s silly, sporadic and hyper-contrived. The proceedings flatten in a lump of dullness. Charm is amped up between the characters when what exists instead is a complete lack of chemistry. The film is just hollowed out by an absence of specific texture. What could have been a frothy, harmless breezy watch quickly turns tiring, predictable, and terribly uncool. Nothing seems to propel it. It runs on empty. Marla Sokoloff’s screenplay collapses to triteness from the very opening stretch.
You wonder how deeply the makers have invested any thought in strands of the narrative. Conclusion springs easily that none of the considerations in fleshing out a lively, compelling story jump-start. The characters lack a zing in their interactions. Banality crowds the film. A town coming back to life, a dancer replaced in showbiz, and a...

The Holiday season is upon us, and so is the season of unoriginal Christmas-themed rom-coms. With an obvious attempt to disassociate myself from The Grinch, I would like to add that I am quite the sucker for films that embrace the Yuletide cheers. Originality is not the first thing I look for when it comes to Christmas Movies, although it does not hurt when something uniquely joyful wanders into our path at this time of the year — like 2019’s “Klaus” for instance. However, I can look past the obvious, the cliched, for the predictable comfort of a half-decent Christmas movie.
Having said that, there is a fine line that separates the familiar cheers from the absolute trites. And Netflix’s “The Merry Gentlemen” is too hackneyed to be taken seriously. Even with the leniency reserved for films that have more than three Christmas songs, and the leniency that the Holiday season demands of us,...

Netflix has added another hit to its ever-growing list of Christmas movies with The Merry Gentlemen. Starring One Tree Hill and Freaky Fridays Chad Michael Murray and Brit Robertson, the film debuted at the top of the global movie chart. For anyone who has been following this years weekly drop of Christmas cheer from Netflix, it should not come as a surprise at all. Sliding in on the heels of Hot Frosty, The Merry Gentlemen is another festive piece of fluffwhich this time comes with the added allure of being about a group of people saving a bar from closure by turning into a strip club. Gather all the kids around the tree for this one.

T’is the season — for male strippers? Yes, actually. Yes indeed.
Netflix’s new Christmas movie “The Merry Gentlemen” is now streaming, telling story of a young dancer who comes home to find that her parents’ business — and thus, her whole childhood, essentially — may be going under. So, to help save it, she organizes a Christmas-themed male revue to pull in ticket sales.
The movie features a lot of familiar faces, but perhaps some new ones for you too. So, we’ve got you covered.
Here are all the major players in “The Merry Gentlemen.”
Netflix Ashley (Britt Robertson)

To describe “The Merry Gentlemen” as “The Full Monty” meets a Christmas-themed Hallmark movie might be overselling the goods. However, that’s essentially the elevator pitch for this feature, in which a big-city dancer returns to her small town to save her parents’ concert venue by having hunks go shirtless on stage. Yet director Peter Sullivan and writer/co-star Marla Sokoloff’s offering in the Netflix Holiday Cinematic Universe is uninventive, uninspired and presented with noticeably sloppy wrapping. Not only does the story flail trying to find its footing after a well-presented first act, some of the more cost-conscious aspects detract from the picture’s meaningful, understated sentiments.

It’s tough to critique a film like Netflix’s The Merry Gentlemen. This is Netflix’s take on the Hallmark-style holiday movie—a genre people eagerly consume during the festive season. Films like this are typically positive, warm, and unabashedly manipulative. In short, they go down like eggnog: light, comforting, and undeniably saccharine.
You can’t exactly tear The Merry Gentlemen to shreds because it’s not trying to compete with cinematic masterpieces like Oppenheimer. This movie is made for a specific audience: those who prefer their entertainment with minimal substance, filling a void during the holiday season.
While that doesn’t make this Chad Michael Murray-led film broadly recommendable, it certainly delivers for fans of the genre.

We know you remember the photos seen on the ‘gram: Chad Michael Murray, shirtless, cowboy-hatted, and doing a body roll. Perhaps you screen-shotted them, too. Alas, no matter how excited you might be for Murray’s resurgence as a Hollywood hunk it’s not enough to make his latest feature “The Merry Gentlemen” even sizzle.

Netflix’s latest holiday offering, “The Merry Gentlemen,” debuts on the streaming site with a unique premise that combines small-town charm, dance performance, and joyful desperation. The film, starring Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray, follows Ashley, a newly dismissed Broadway dancer who returns to her hometown amid a financial crisis. With her family’s theater on the verge of failure, she devises an unusual solution: creating an all-male holiday revue featuring local hunks.
In the movie, Murray plays Luke, a local handyman with great abs and unexpected performance skills, transforming a faltering music venue into a makeshift dance platform. Ashley, played by Robertson, sees an opportunity to reinvent herself and save her parents’ struggling business through a funny Christmas-themed dance show that is equal parts “Magic Mike” and hometown heroes.

The Merry Gentlemen delivers an undercooked Christmas movie that struggles to make sense of itself and the humor falls flat. While Netflix is known for producing new movies and shows at a break-neck speed, it's fair to say that a lot of them feel well-thought-out and executed. The same can't be said for The Merry Gentlemen, which follows in the footsteps of hollow Hallmark Christmas movies that fail to tell a cohesive or engaging story.

Warning: Contains Spoilers for The Merry GentlemenThe Merry Gentlemen is a whole new kind of Christmas film for Netflix, taking more inspiration from Magic Mike than Frosty the Snowman. The Merry Gentlemen follows dancer Ashley as she returns home for Christmas to find that her parents' performing arts venue, The Rhythm Room, is close to closing down. In order to save her parents' business, Ashley hatches a plan to host a Christmas-themed performance by some of their town's most eligible bachelors.
With the help of her friends and family, Ashley creates the revue of a lifetime. The Merry Gentlemen is infused with both classic Christmas spirit and entertaining fun, boasting both heartfelt scenes and upbeat dance sequences. All around, The Merry Gentlemen is a fun time and keeps viewers entertained, and much of what makes The Merry Gentlemen work is the skill of its actors, and their performances as dancers.

We are halfway through November, Thanksgiving is coming sooner rather than later, and Netflix has a bunch of new movies and shows coming to their lineup. It's a busy week! The new additions include a new Christmas movie, a based-on-a-true-story movie about IVF, and a movie based on an August Wilson play.
First up this week is The Merry Gentleman. It hits Netflix on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024 and stars Britt Robertson, Chad Michael Murray, Marla Sokoloff, and Marc Anthony Samuel. The holiday movie tells the story of a young woman who stages an all-male Christmas-themed show in order to save her parent's small-town venue. You know... the usual tale. I cannot wait to watch this. It's like Christmas-themed Magic Mike!
Check out the trailer below:
Joy is also headed to Netflix this week! It hits the streaming service on Thursday, Nov. 21 and follows the story of the creation of in vitro fertilization (IVF) in the UK.

The Merry Gentlemen is a light-hearted new rom-com about an all-male Christmas revue. Its one of several Christmas movies hitting Netflix this holiday season, in a way offering a sort of festive take on Magic Mike. Netflix is ready to bring the Christmas spirit with a spicy twist in the trailer for The Merry Gentlemen released Thursday.
In the trailer, Britt Robertson’s character, Ashley, a former big-city dancer, is determined to save her parents’ small-town performing venue, The Rhythm Room, from closing down. As a means of bringing in more customers, she stages an all-male, Christmas-themed revue.
“We are going to make this show something truly special. Something this town has never seen before,” Ashley says.
With help from Chad Michael Murray, who portrays romantic lead and contractor Luke, and others who work at The Rhythm Room, Ashley creates a new holiday entertainment spectacle known as the Merry Gentlemen (think a tamer Magic Mike but for the holidays.) Though the new show generates excitement, sparks may also fly between Ashley and Luke.

The trailer for The Merry Gentlemen has arrived. The upcoming Netflix Christmas movie, which stars Chad Michael Murray and Britt Robertson, follows a young woman attempting to save her family's local performance venue The Rhythm Room by staging a Christmas-themed burlesque revue featuring shirtless beefcakes. The movie's ensemble cast also includes Grease 2's Maxwell Caulfield, Sabrina the Teenage Witch's Beth Broderick, General Hospital's Marc Anthony Samuel, Dirty Dancing (2017)'s Colt Prattes, Wizards of Waverly Place's Maria Canals-Barrera, and The Practice's Marla Sokoloff.
Netflix has now unveiled the official trailer for The Merry Gentlemen. Chad Michael Murray is getting his freak on for a “Magic Mike”-tinged Netflix holiday rom-com.
The “One Tree Hill,” “A Cinderella Story,” and “Freaky Friday” alum strips down for “The Merry Gentlemen” in a cabaret-style show to save one small town’s beloved theater. Sounds a little like “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” meets Hallmark? Yeah, we thought so too.
Britt Robertson leads the film as a “former big-city dancer” who “decides to stage an all-male, Christmas-themed revue.” Cue Murray’s character, who also realizes that sparks fly with Robertson’s lead even off-stage.
Marla Sokoloff, Beth Broderick, Michael Gross, Maxwell Caulfield, Hector David Jr., Colt Prattes, and Marc Anthony Samuel co-star. Peter Sullivan directs from a script by actress Sokoloff, who also has starred in and directed Lifetime films like “Christmas Hotel” and “Blending Christmas.”

The temperatures might be falling, but Netflix is turning up the heat this holiday season with a new Christmastime movie we can best describe as Hallmark meets Magic Mike.
Among the newest wave of Netflix holiday movies making their way to the streaming service this fall is The Merry Gentlemen starring One Tree Hill alum Chad Michael Murray and, if the newly released photos from Netflix are any indication, it’s about to be a very holly, jolly Christmas this year.

It's been a startlingly rapid fall for James Franco and though he may never reach the heights of success he had in the past, he still accumulated a significant net worth before his controversies caught up with him. As a star in the cast of Freaks and Geeks, Franco was one of the founding members of Judd Apatow's comedy troupe who would conquer the scene in the 21st century. However, he always felt a little bit outside the core group of people who made up those films, only regularly pairing up with Seth Rogen.
That was probably because Franco had his eyes set on more dramatic roles, including a starring role in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy and an Oscar-nominated role in 127 Hours, to name a few of his most memorable performances. Though Franco has never been married, he has had a few relationships, including ones with Marla Sokoloff,...

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: Cheerleaders Gone… Bank Robbing?
The year 2000 was the New Hollywood of cheerleaders in film. After years of movies in which teen girls with pom poms were reduced to one-note bitches and bimbos, Y2K saw the easy-to-stereotype athletes receive a sudden rush of cinematic respect with Peyton Reed’s instant classic “Bring It On.”
Starring Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union, the story of a rivalry between two cheer squads combined an authentic love for the (extremely grueling) work of cheer captains with fun flirty comedy and a surprisingly intelligent depiction of cultural appropriation.

Starring Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union, the story of a rivalry between two cheer squads combined an authentic love for the (extremely grueling) work of cheer captains with fun flirty comedy and a surprisingly intelligent depiction of cultural appropriation.

Marla Sokoloff’s daughters were not impressed by her Full House character’s rebellious attitude.
During Sokoloff’s Friday appearance on Dave Coulier’s podcast Full House Rewind, the actress said that her character Gia was “perfect” for her because she was “so biting and always being set up by somebody to come in and do something deplorable or irritating.”
“That’s inherently in me,” admitted Sokoloff.
Sokoloff was a recurring guest star on Full House for seasons seven and eight, where she played Gia, Stephanie’s best friend. Initially introduced as a troubled teen who smoked in the school bathroom with a bad crowd, Gia eventually shed her “bad girl” ways with Stephanie’s help.
“Didn’t you smoke or something on the show?” Coulier asked Sokoloff. When she confirmed that she did have to smoke herbal cigarettes on Full House, the actor wondered if Sokoloff’s daughters have...

Seann William Scott said he's interested in making a Dude, Where's My Car? sequel with Ashton Kutcher based solely on the potential film's hilarious title.
During a chat with Screen Rant, Scott talked about the potential of the stoner comedy getting a sequel. While there have been no discussions at this time, the actor is down for a sequel based on a title given to the potential follow-up by Conan O'Brien. "We've never talked about it. You know what, I always hear about it when I would do Conan, his show," Scott said. "He would always bring it up. He was like, 'Guys, can you make that Seriously, Dude, Where's My Car?' I'm like, 'We have to for you, man.' But I think the title alone is hilarious enough to make the movie."
