Wojciech Kilar was born on 17 July 1932 in Lwów, Lwowskie, Poland [now Lviv, Ukraine]. He was a composer, known for Dracula (1992), La neuvième porte (1999) and Le Pianiste (2002). He was married to Barbara Pomianowska. He died on 29 December 2013 in Katowice, Slaskie, Poland.

Trivia
He was inspired by the works of Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, and fellow countryman Karol Szymanowski. His work incorporated Polish folk songs and Catholic church music. His main interest was composing symphonies and concertos, even though he wrote dozens of film scores.
