Wendt died on May 20, 2025, at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 76.

Hollywood and many of George Wendt’s former co-stars are paying tribute to the actor after news of his death was announced Tuesday.

Wendt died peacefully in his sleep at home, his family confirmed Tuesday morning. He was 76.

“George was a doting family man, a well-loved friend and confidant to all of those lucky enough to have known him,” a rep for Wendt said in a statement. “He will be missed forever. The family has requested privacy during this time.”

Wendt had an incredible career as an actor, beloved for his starring role as Norm Peterson in all 11 seasons of the NBC sitcom Cheers. During his time playing Norm, he earned Emmy nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for six consecutive years, with the character notably also making cameos on St. Elsewhere, Wings, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Frasier and The Tortellis.

Michelle Trachtenberg, an actress best known for roles on Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has passed away at a very young age. She was only 39 years old.

The star was found “unconscious and unresponsive” by her mother on the morning of Wednesday, February 26, according to various sources.

A cause of death has not been confirmed, although Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant.

Killing the Competition: When a Mother’s Ambition Turns Deadly Premieres March on Lifetime...

Melissa Joan Hart will star in and executive produce a new Lifetime thriller, “Killing the Competition,” TheWrap can reveal exclusively.

The juicy thriller, which debuts Saturday, March 1, at 8 p.m. Et, stars Hart as Elizabeth Fenwick, a loving mother in her 40s who becomes enraged after her daughter is cut from her alma mater’s dance team. Hart also serves as an EP on the movie via her company Hartbreak Films.

Inspired by actual events, “Killing the Competition” follows Elizabeth, who was once her high school’s star dancer and prom queen, as she and her husband, Steve (Eddie Mills), help craft a similar path for their daughter, Grace (Lily Brooks O’Briant).

When Grace doesn’t make the team, however, Elizabeth becomes obsessed with the star of the dance team, Hannah (Valerie Loo), and her mother Nicole (Anzu Lawson), and eventually becomes involved in a shocking kidnapping plot.

Soleil Moon Frye is set to direct “The Carters,” a new two-part documentary that looks at the “extreme highs and tragic lows” of the Carter family, including the musical careers of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter and pop star Aaron Carter, the latter of whom died in 2022.

Hudson Joseph Meek, a teen actor best known for playing Young Baby in the 2017 film Baby Driver, has died at 16 years old.

As reported by Al.com, Meek was critically injured after falling from a moving vehicle on Thursday, December 19th in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He was taken to Uab Hospital and succumbed to blunt force injuries two days later. Vestavia Hills police are investigating his death.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” read a statement posted to the actor’s Instagram account. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

Born on August 5th, 2008, Meek was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School at the time of his passing. His acting career dates back to 2014, when he appeared in the Lifetime movie The Santa Con starring Melissa Joan Hart and Jaleel White.

A Christmas tragedy was revealed today as news of Hudson Meek’s death spread online. The 16-year-old passed away on December 21, two days after he reportedly fell from a moving vehicle and sustained severe injuries from which he never recovered. Let’s start with a Netflix Original that we would have loved to see more of. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina brought us a darker telling of the story compared to the Melissa Joan Hart comedy of the ‘90s. It felt more like a witchy tale, which is needed considering the topics.

We meet Sabrina, a witch who doesn’t really want to give up her mortal life.

“Sabrina the Teenage Witch” is a certified Criterion title, believe it or not.

The beloved franchise about a beloved occult teen, iconically played by Melissa Joan Hart, is officially amongst the new streaming selections for the Criterion Channel. “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” centered on Sabrina (Hart), a high school student who lives with her two aunts Hilda (Caroline Rhea) and Zelda (Beth Broderick) as she navigates coming into her powers. Her cat Salem (Frank Conniff) also provides snarky spiritual guidance.

The ABC-produced franchise was based on the comic book series that debuted in 1971. The “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” show is available to stream on Paramount+ as of 2023.

The 1996 TV movie was a spinoff of the TV series, and was followed by 1998’s “Sabrina Goes to Rome” and 1999’s “Sabrina Down Under.”

Now, “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” joins Criterion’s “Witches” programming for October 2024, ushering in the 40-year anniversary of the Criterion platform.
