As Byron Allen’s “Comics Unleashed With Byron Allen” is set to tape more than 130 episodes ahead of its late night debut on CBS.

As TheWrap previously reported, “Comics Unleashed” will be taking over the 12:30 a.m. time slot from “After Midnight.” Allen plans on filming 132 episodes of the comedy talk show, which is produced under Allen’s Entertainment Studios banner.

The series, which is heading into its 20th season, will officially air at 12:37 a.m. Et on Sept. 22 with back-to-back half-hour episodes. Episodes of the comedy talk show will then air Monday through Friday, with the series also available to stream live on Paramount+ for subscribers that have Paramount+ with Showtime.

According to Deadline, 21 Laps has begun development on a reimagining of Night at the Museum for 20th Century Studios, with Tripper Clancy tapped to write the script. The screenwriter is best known for writing the 2019 buddy action flick Stuber, starring Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani, and the Kevin Hart-led Roku series Die Hart. Unfortunately, the upcoming Night at the Museum reimagining comes with a catch that will likely disappoint longtime fans of the original film trilogy. The new installment is not expected to bring back any cast members and will instead be a "new story set at the museum with all-new characters."

Those are the lyrics to the theme song for the 1964 animated series "Underdog," a series about a canine named Shoeshine Boy (Wally Cox) who would occasionally transform into the eponymous flying, super-strong superhero to protect his girlfriend, Polly Purebred (Norma McMillan), from the evils of the mad scientist Simon Bar Sinister (Allen Swift). "Underdog" was in heavy syndication for years, so those of a certain age likely saw multiple episodes without trying. Underdog was an appealing character because he seemed mild-mannered even while in hero mode, and because he always spoke in rhyming couplets. Curiously, Underdog seemed to get his superpowers by popping "super energy pills," which sounds narcotics-adjacent to the modern ear.

According to FlixPatrol, and as of June 26, Everybody Loves Raymond climbed to the number four spot on Paramount+'s Top 10 in the United States. It trails behind Criminal Minds, NCIS, and SpongeBob SquarePants, at positions one through three respectively. It also surged ahead of another 90s sitcom, Frasier, which is currently in fifth place. Everybody Loves Raymond originally ran for nine seasons on CBS from 1996 to 2005. “No, there won’t be a reboot,” Romano told the New York Post point blank while marking the sitcom’s 30th anniversary. “The obvious is Peter [Boyle] and Doris [Roberts] and one of the kids — they’re no longer with us. We’re all heartbroken. They’re a big part of the show, the dynamic. Without them, I don’t know what the dynamic is. We love the show too much, we respect it too much to even try to do it.”

Boyle and Roberts, who played Romano’s on-screen parents Frank and Marie, died in 2006 and 2016, respectively. Sawyer Sweeten, who played one of Romano’s twin sons, died in 2015 at 19 years old.

Romano, who won an Emmy in 2002 for his performance in the show, is now opening up on why he doesn’t think there will ever be a reboot of his sitcom. Over the entire run of the series, Everybody Loves Raymond amassed 15 Emmy Awards. Per Entertainment Weekly, Romano spoke about rumors of a reboot at the red carpet celebration for the series at New York City’s Paley Museum.

“No, there won’t be a reboot,”Romano said.

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting an Everybody Loves Raymond reboot, sorry to break it to you, but there won’t be one anytime soon — if ever. About a week ago, fan-favorite Brad Garrett, who portrayed the tallest Barone, Robert, on the classic sitcom, squashed any hopes of a revival coming to life. More recently, co-stars Ray Romano and Patricia Heaton have joined in ruling out any possibility, citing a significant reason in an interview with the New York Post while celebrating 30 years of the beloved show at New York City's Paley Museum.

"No, there won’t be a reboot," Romano, who starred as Ray Barone in Everybody Loves Raymond, said before adding that it would never be the same without three stars who have unfortunately passed away. He explained:

"The obvious is: Peter [Boyle] and Doris [Roberts] and one of the kids [Sawyer Sweeten]. They’re no longer with us.

Starring Aselton, Daveed Diggs, and Brad Garrett, the film follows Erin (Aselton) and Charlie (Diggs) as they escape to the desert to navigate an unexpected and challenging new phase of their relationship. However, the rendezvous shows they couldn’t be further apart, revealing an even more striking turn in their marriage.

Written by Aselton and her husband and frequent collaborator Mark Duplass, the film hails from the latter’s Duplass Brothers Productions. Emily A. Neumann produced, with Mark Duplass, Jay Duplass, and Mel Eslyn exec producing for Duplass Brothers Productions. We were first to report on the project in April 2024.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with Greenwich,” said Aselton in a statement to Deadline.

Pixar’s “Elio” is the latest reminder of how hard it is for original animation to succeed theatrically, especially with the kind of personal stories being made under Pete Docter’s leadership. The storytelling struggle was so difficult, in fact, that it prompted a course correction. First-time director Adrian Molina (“Coco”) departed his alien abduction comedy-adventure to rejoin Lee Unkrich on “Coco 2” as co-director once again. But he tapped “Coco” story artist Madeline Sharafian to succeed him, trusting her to complete his pet project.

Molina was in good hands: Sharafian deeply connected with “Elio’s” theme of loneliness and the search for belonging, and contributed some wonderful early concept drawings. She even stuck up for Molina during meetings with the Brain Trust when there was pushback.

“I remember being in some of those later meetings with Adrian fighting for some of the scenes in the movie,” Sharafian told IndieWire.

Disney’s Pixar animated movies are experiencing a decline in popularity, with their original titles failing to score big at the box office. Nine seasons, 200+ episodes and one of the most nominated comedies in Primetime Emmy history, Everybody Loves Raymond remains one of the most beloved sitcoms ever. Disney and Pixar’s newest animated film is breaking a long-standing record for the studio, and that’s not a good thing. Per Variety, Elio, which debuted in theaters on June 20, has earned just $35 million worldwide during its opening weekend. Of that figure, $14 million came from overseas markets.

The $21 million debut outing domestically is now Pixar’s worst-ever behind films like Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Finding Nemo. Elio took third place at the domestic box office. The 1995 Toy Story earned just over $29 million in its first weekend in theaters.

Disney’s 2023 film Elemental held the title of lowest-grossing international debut with $14.9 million from overseas markets until Elio. Elemental did go on to earn nearly half a billion dollars globally during its theatrical run due to word of mouth.

Critics & Audiences Praised the Film

Elio’s box office performance is surprising, as the film has had good reviews from critics and fans alike.

Pixar’s Elio’s opening-day gross is not very impressive, and it debuted at #3 in the domestic box office chart. However, since it is an original animation, it will depend on word-of-mouth, and it is too early to decide its faith. While Elio has no confirmed sequel, audiences generally always want to see the story of Pixar's renowned worlds go on, and that's no different with the studio's latest release. Thankfully, star Yonas Kibreab knows precisely what he would want to see next.

His first film, now playing in theaters worldwide, saw Kibreab's titular character desperate for a place to fit in. This led him to be abducted by aliens and let into an alien society deep in space. James Gunn has revealed exactly how the upcoming Supergirlmovie is going to use Jason Momoa's character of Lobo. The actor has already been confirmed to be making a cameo appearance as the fan-favorite alien bounty hunter, after previously playing Aquaman in the Dceu.

Speaking on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast, Gunn talked about Momoa's casting and how the character of Lobo will impact Supergirl's story. "The comic is very much a bunch of little stories," he said. "We needed to create one throughline, one three-act story, so Lobo helps us to do that." Supergirl is scheduled to be released as part of the Dcu's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters on June 26, 2026.

Early box office previews of 28 Years Later and Pixar's Elio show a strong start for both films, with the new zombie horror film pulling ahead. Neither film is currently predicted to top the box office.

Variety reports that 28 Years Later opened with an impressive $5.8 million in Thursday previews, with Pixar's Elio pulling in significantly less with $3 million. The difference between the two numbers is likely due to Elio being a family film, with families typically heading to the cinemas on weekends. Current predictions show 28 Years Later likely to open in the $28-30 million range, with Elio expected to narrow the gap and gross between $25-30 million, too. Pixar has been making movies since roughly the time I was born, so it's a little odd to engage with debates over whether the studio has become long in the tooth and is now struggling for relevancy in its old age. Sure, the so-called Golden Era from the late '90s to mid 2010s might be receding further and further into the rearview mirror. But many of its movies in the pandemic era have compiled solid reviews, are considered box office hits, and fill an important niche among kids that very few competitors seem interested in doing anymore. "Elio," which I reviewed quite positively for /Film here, likely won't go down as a Major Turning Point™ in any regard.
