Why Jennifer Garner Is Not on Speaking Terms With Jennifer Lopez Anymore, Is It Because of Ben Affleck?
Image
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have always had a special spot for each other, despite going their separate ways in 2015. Over the years, they have focused on co-parenting their children and being good friends, with Garner always looking out for him.

They have been on the same wavelength all these years, even befriending Affleck’s ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez. Bennifer was all the rage in the early 00s’, which is why, fans were both excited and skeptical when the two decided to give their relationship another chance in 2021, before separating for good this time.

Now the question is, is Garner still on good terms with Lopez, or is she Team Affleck all the way? According to a source who confided in British journalist Rob Shutter, the ‘Family Switch‘ actress is loyal to her ex-husband.

She’s Team Ben, 100%. She was there before, during, and after Bennifer – and now she’s back...

The Era of Emmy Sweepers: How Recent Trends Point to ‘Adolescence,’ ‘Severance’ and ‘The Studio’ Winning Big
Image
Are we in store for more “Emmy sweepers?”

With more than 25,000 voting members, the Television Academy is made up of 31 peer groups, each representing a specific field of expertise — actors, writers, editors, and so on. Of the many categories, only 15 are voted on by the entire membership. These include outstanding comedy, drama, limited or anthology series, television movie, talk series, variety special (live and pre-recorded), short form, hosted nonfiction series, structured and unstructured reality, reality competition, scripted variety and game show.

Unlike the Oscars, which allow all eligible members to vote in the final round, the Emmys restrict both nomination and winner selection to designated peer groups. That exclusivity shapes the voting landscape — and it explains the rise of a modern phenomenon: the Emmy sweep.

Only once before 2020 had a series ever won all seven major categories: HBO’s “Angels in America” in 2004. Then came the Covid-era stunner: Pop TV’s “Schitt’s Creek,...

Rewatching Scandal’s Ending on Netflix Proves Jake Ballard Was a Convenient Plot Punching Bag
Image
Shonda Rhimes‘ political thriller Scandal aired its finale, Over a Cliff, in 2018. Unfortunately, this finale left much to be desired, particularly regarding one of the show’s standout characters, Jake Ballard. He certainly did not receive the ending he deserved. Over the seven seasons, Jake evolved into one of the most morally complex characters in the show.

While nearly every other character walked away with some form of peace and redemption, Jake was shoved into a prison cell and left to rot. The show’s ending still stings. Re-watching Scandal on Netflix makes me realize Jake Ballard wasn’t just mistreated – in fact, he was used as a convenient plot punching bag.

Jake Ballard (played by Scott Foley) was introduced in Scandal Season 2 as a mysterious naval intelligence officer with unclear intentions. Over time, he revealed...

Yellowstone Creator Taylor Sheridan Played Two Different Characters In The Same Franchise
Image
Taylor Sheridan loves to cameo in his own stuff as much as he loves horses and creating characters in shows that make no sense. In the case of the "Yellowstone" universe, for example, the world-builder appeared across centuries when he starred in both the flagship series, "Yellowstone" as Travis Wheatley and also his best prequel series, "1883," as Charlie Goodnight, providing one of the rare occasions when fact and fiction collided.

Starring as two different characters in the same universe was something Sheridan should have been used to, though. Long before his name on a script meant as much as it does now, the go-to scribe for Paramount did double duty in another show in 1994 that housed massive talents in the making like Neve Campbell, Matthew Fox, and Jennifer Love-Hewitt. The show was "Party of Five," which spanned six years and spawned a spin-off series of its own (albeit a...

Image
Even though Superman has just been released, Nicholas Hoult has already scored his next role — an ambassador for the global humanitarian organization, Save the Children.

Hoult, who plays villain Lex Luthor in the new DC Studios film, recently stopped by the charity and community arts center Rich Mix in London to hold a Q&a with kids and discuss his childhood, what it’s like being part of a superhero movie and his journey as an actor.

“It’s been a real privilege to meet the children here at Rich Mix on my first day as an official ambassador for Save the Children,” Hoult said in a statement. “Seeing the joy that they got from taking part in the workshop reminded me how much I loved being involved in film from a young age. It’s clear how passionate they are and it’s been so inspiring to meet the next generation of creatives,...

'Leave Me Out of It': Mahershala Ali's Blade Comments Make Marvel's Horror Movie Sound Dead
Image
Marvel Studios' Blade reboot has just been dealt another devastating blow. Mahershala Ali, who is set to star in the long-gestating superhero blockbuster as the titular hero, recently skirted around a question involving the Marvel Cinematic Universe while promoting his new movie, Jurassic World Rebirth.

During a recent appearance on Vogue's Off the Cut podcast (via ComicBook) with his Rebirth co-stars Jonathan Bailey and Scarlett Johansson, the cast was asked how many Marvel movies they had appeared in, prompting Ali to state, "Leave me out of it. That's a Scarlett question." Ali tossing the question away from him as quickly as possible implies that Marvel is still no closer to getting Blade into production, roughly six years after the project was first announced. For what it's worth, even with Blade still in development hell, Ali's answer to the question would technically be one, as he made an uncredited voice cameo...

Through the #67Strong4Kids campaign, she ran a mile per day for 67 straight days – a fundraising challenge to raise awareness for the $67 it costs to provide a full, six-week course of therapeutic food that can save the life of a severely malnourished child – and elite runner Becs Gentry has joined her along the way.

The challenge, initiated by Garner on her birthday in April, culminated in a running event sponsored by Brooks Running in Santa Monica on June 22, where hundreds of people joined Garner and Gentry – in-person and virtually – for their final mile, while running against one of the top threats to child survival around the world.

Despite Just a 45% Rt Score, Jennifer Garner’s Feel-Good Christian Drama Is Blowing Up on Netflix
Image
Based on the incredible true story of the Beam family, the faith-based drama Miracles from Heaven, starring Jennifer Garner, opened to less-than-thrilling critical reception back in 2016. But contrary to what critics had to say, the general audience, for the most part, deeply resonated with the movie.

Even nine years later, the movie’s exploration of faith and resilience in the face of hardship has continued to resonate with viewers, which is apparent from the renewed interest in the wake of its Netflix arrival.

Jennifer Garner’s ‘Miracles from Heaven’ is dominating the streaming charts

Annabel’s story of recovering from a severe gastrointestinal condition after sustaining a life-threatening fall, head-first into a hollow tree, made headlines after her mother, Christy Beam, penned the story for the world to see. Miracles from Heaven, based on Beam’s memoir of the same name, was a major commercial hit, primarily thanks to Jennifer...

Watch Kevin Costner’s Low-Budget Drama With Chadwick Boseman Before It Leaves Streaming
Image
Kevin Costner will always be known for his role as John Dutton in Yellowstone, but four years before he ever slipped on the boots in Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western series, he starred in a low-budget drama that just got a disappointing streaming update. Costner stars alongside Jennifer Garner and the late Chadwick Boseman in Draft Day, the 2014 sports movie following NFL manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) and his journey to build a team through the NFL draft. Draft Day has been streaming on Netflix for months now, but the streamer has announced that the last day to stream the film will be June 30. Draft Day grossed only $29 million at the box office against a $25 million budget, and the film netted scores of 60% from critics and 65% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

Scott Rothman and Rajiv Joseph wrote the screenplay for Draft Day, and Ivan Reitman directed the film. Rothman is known for...

Bob Iger & Willow Bay’s Angel City F.C. Has Something To Say About L.A. Ice Raids As Disney, Other Studios & Most Teams Stay Silent
Image
As more Ice raids hit Los Angeles this Juneteenth holiday, the Bob Iger and Willow Bay-owned Angel City Fc has taken a stand for immigrants while most others have remained silent and afraid of the Donald Trump administration.

Less than a year after Iger and spouse Bay dropped around $100 million to became the controlling owners in the $250 million-valued National Women’s Soccer League team, Acfc has come out in strong opposition to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions in L.A. and waved the flag proudly for “Immigrant City.”

While individual stars and showrunners have been vocal in their opposition the past few weeks to cruel Ice raids in L.A. and Trump deploying thousands of troops in the City of Angels, studios, streamers, social media platforms, many sports teams and other Hollywood corporations have been as quiet as church mice. Today the feds have swarmed Dodger Stadium,...

Alan Cumming would be the 4th person to repeat in Best Reality Host: See fresh Emmy odds
Image
To date, Jeff Probst (Survivor), Jane Lynch (Hollywood Game Night), and RuPaul Charles (RuPaul's Drag Race) are the only people to win the Best Reality Host Emmy at least twice in a row. But a fourth contender could soon be joining their esteemed list.

Alan Cumming (The Traitors) is the clear frontrunner in Gold Derby's predictions to claim his second consecutive host trophy. He also won as a producer last year when The Traitors prevailed for Best Competition Program. Cumming plays a heightened version of himself on Peacock's reality TV show, someone who oozes camp and gets excited every time a murder takes place inside his luxurious Scottish castle. Could The Traitors exist in a world without Cumming? Yes. But it wouldn't be nearly as fun. In addition to his two Emmys, the performer is also a double Tony winner for Cabaret and A Strange Loop.

Next in line is RuPaul,...

5 Best Adam Scott Movies & TV Shows To Watch After Severance
Image
I'm not breaking new ground when I say that Adam Scott is excellent on "Severance." This isn't a hot take; it's decidedly room-temperature. Technically, Scott plays two characters on Dan Erickson's twisted take on a "workplace comedy," even though they are the same person: Mark Scout, a miserable man who lost his wife Gemma (Dichen Lachman) in a tragic car accident, and to deal with his overwhelming grief, who takes a job at Lumon Industries that offers a procedure called "severance" that splits his consciousness into two distinct parts. When he leaves work, he's stuck being plain old Mark Scout, but at work, on the "severed" floor, he's Mark S., a willing acolyte of Lumon who has no idea that he ever had a wife, let alone lost one.

As his innie (Mark S.) and outie (Mark Scout), Scott delivers one of his very best performances; in the show's critically adored sophomore season,...

A-Lister Wants to Be Gwyneth Paltrow’s Boyfriend After Watching Her Topless in Kitchen

Gwyneth Paltrow may be in a happy marriage with Brad Falchuk for seven years now, but it is clear that the gorgeous, gorgeous woman is still in high demand. The Iron Man actress recently uploaded a rather beautiful video to her Instagram account where she was seen cooking breakfast for her husband, wait for it, topless.

Of course, the video garnered all sorts of reactions from viewers. While some praised her for turning a simple video spicy, others were a little bit more judgmental, but we aren’t getting into that. What we do want to talk about, though, is the proposal in her comment section from another A-list celebrity wanting to date Gwyneth Paltrow – Jennifer Garner.

Two big stars unexpectedly cast in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars
Image
Marvel Studios is working towards its next "endgame". Just as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's 11-year long Infinity Saga concluded with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the Multiverse Saga looks to do the same with the upcoming double-finale of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. And to say audiences are ready would be a major understatement.

The first of those two upcoming movies already features a star-studded cast, as the studio unveiled at least 27 major names set to appear in the film. Among those stars are Thor star Chris Hemsworth, Captain America star Anthony Mackie, Shang-Chi star Simu Liu, the casts of Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and even returnees from the original X-Men movie series - most of whom are set to make their MCU debut in the film. And they all join Robert Downey Jr. who returns to the legendary franchise in the new role of villain Doctor Doom.

Deadpool & Wolverine, Thunderbolts*, and The Last of Us lead the nominations at this year’s Critics Choice Super Awards
Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko, Sebastian Stan, Hannah John-Kamen, Lewis Pullman, and Florence Pugh in Thunderbolts* (2025)
High-brow film awards events like The Academy Awards and the Emmys always bring Hollywood’s tastiest milkshakes to the yard. However, while I enjoy a red carpet romp as much as the next cinephile, plenty of movies and television shows I’ve enjoyed throughout the year don’t get so much as a mention when the nominations come from parties that don’t tend to share my cinematic values. That’s why we’ve got JoBlo’s Golden Schmoes and celebrations like the fifth annual Critics Choice Super Awards! Today, the nominations for this year’s ceremony are making the rounds, with titles like Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, Thunderbolts*, and HBO’s The Last of Us leading the pack.

Nominations for this year’s Critics Choice Super Awards cover a spectrum of genres, including superhero cinema, high-octane action, bleak dramas, mind-bending science-fiction, cerebral war drama, comedic action, spine-tingling horror, and more!
