‘Celebrity Weakest Link’ Trailer Teases TV Reunions Galore Including ‘Glee,’ ‘Friday Night Lights,’ ‘90210’ & More As First Season Contestants Revealed
Image
Fox is pulling out all the stops for the first season of Celebrity Weakest Link, promising plenty of exciting TV reunions and iconic pairings abound throughout the competition series.

Notably, host Jane Lynch will get to reunite with the Glee cast for an episode featuring Max Adler, Dot Marie Jones, Heather Morris, Alex Newell, Chord Overstreet, Amber Riley, Becca Tobin, and Jenna Ushkowitz.

That crew rarely gets together anymore, despite the enduring popularity of the former Fox series, making this quite a special reunion. A trailer for the upcoming season hints that no one is safe from Lynch’s ribbing, not even her former cast mates.

“Listen up, dorks, I’ll ask you questions one at a time,” Lynch jokes. The trailer then cuts to Riley with a surprised look on her face.

Celebrity Weakest Link will also include a “High School Reunion” episode, bringing together...

Tatyana Ali Says Rose McGowan Shut Down “Jawbreaker” Bully
Tatyana Ali
Tatyana Ali says a co-star bullied her during the 1998 production of the teen dark-comedy Jawbreaker, and that Rose McGowan stepped in and stopped the behaviour on set. Ali’s account surfaced this week in an Instagram post shared ahead of the film’s 25-year celebrations and was quickly amplified by entertainment press and social-media feeds, reigniting debate about how young actors were treated on 1990s shoots.

In the caption Ali recalled being the only cast member still in high school and wrote that “one actress in particular” targeted her until McGowan told the offender to “stfu in front of everybody.” McGowan answered in the comment thread, “I’d do it again,” a response fans circulated widely on X and TikTok. Neither woman named the alleged bully, and Ali’s representatives declined further comment when contacted by The Independent.

Trade sites and aggregators such as IMDb News noted that the story...

Tatyana Ali’s memories from working on the 1999 comedy, Jawbreaker are not all positive.

Ali shared on Instagram Saturday that she was bullied on the set of the film and explained how her co-star, Rose McGowan, had her back.

She continued, “But one day, she tried it in front of everybody… and @rosemcgowan told her to stfu in front of everybody! I will always love her for that!”

According to Tatyana Ali, Rose McGowan did not put up with any attitude on the set of “Jawbreaker.”

Tatyana Ali Recalls Rose McGowan Standing Up To ‘Jawbreaker’ Set Bully: “Will Always Love Her For That”
Image
Although Courtney Shayne might be the ultimate onscreen mean girl, Rose McGowan was a fierce girl’s girl behind the scenes.

More than 25 years after playing Brenda in Jawbreaker (1999), Tatyana Ali called McGowan “a real one” and reminisced about the actress standing up for her against an on-set bully while making the Darren Stein-helmed cult classic teen film.

“I was the only one actually in high school when we shot this, and I dealt with a little bullying on set from one actress in particular,” wrote Ali on Instagram. “But one day, she tried it in front of everybody… and @rosemcgowan told her to stfu in front of everybody! Doechii Pays Homage to "Coven Music Session" in New "Anxiety" Music Video
Image
Grammy-winning rapper Doechii finally dropped the music video for “Anxiety” on April 18, 2025, more than a month after the single hit streaming platforms. Directed by James Mackle for Adele Drive, the video follows the artist as she is caught in a surreal, anxiety-fueled hell loop. Doechii is tossed, dragged, and flung through her trembling house as everything spirals out of control. From a stove bursting into flames to almost stepping into cracks on the wooden floor, and even a random elephant appearing outside, every bizarre moment is a physical manifestation of her anxiety.

Fans of Doechii might immediately recognize the opening scene as a nod to her now iconic Coven Music Session video, originally uploaded on May 15, 2020. The set is styled like the bedroom where she performed “Anxiety” almost five years ago. Viewers may also catch a clever reference to Gotye’s music video for “Somebody That I Used to Know,...

If you’re caught up on the latest episodes of Abbott Elementary, you know principal Ava Coleman is out of a job. But the good news for fans of Quinta Brunson’s workplace comedy is that Janelle James, the actress who portrays Ava, is not.

Will Smith Recounts Hating The Original Fresh Prince Of Bel Air Theme Song & How He Responded
Image
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's Will Smith explains how his dislike of the original theme song saw him taking a nerve-wracking chance to make a more fitting tune. The 1990s sitcom saw a young teen from Philadelphia move to live with his wealthy relatives in the titular Los Angeles neighborhood across six seasons from 1990 to 1996. Starring Smith as a fictionalized version of himself, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's cast featured James Avery, Janet Hubert-Whitten, Daphne Maxwell-Reid, Alphonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons, Tatyana M. Ali, and Joseph Marcell.

As Vice's Black Comedy In America series turned its attention to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Smith confessed that he loathed the original theme song that the late Quincy Jones pitched, but he felt he couldn't say that directly to the producer due to both his involvement and reputation in the music industry. As such, Smith joined forces with his frequent...

Will Smith says that he regrets his feud with his The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star Janet Hubert, who played Aunt Vivian in the first three seasons of the 90s sitcom. ‘Bel-Air’ Will Return for a Fourth & Final Season on Peacock
Image
Fans of Peacock's Bel-Air have a reason to celebrate and more today. The series, which offered a unique dramatic redo of the popular sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, will be back for a fourth season, but it comes with the announcement that it will be its last...and it will have a lower than usual episode count. So, alongside the celebrations also comes some bad news, sadly.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Peacock Premium has renewed Bel-Air for a fourth and final season that will consist of eight episodes, down from the typical ten episodes of previous seasons. The news of the renewal decision arrives three months after the Season 3 finale was released on the streaming service on Sept. 5. An exact reason for the decision to end the show with Season 4 wasn't given, but some reports say that budgetary reasons could be a factor, which is why the renewal news came later than usual.

Peacock’s Bel-Air is coming to an end with Season 4
Image
Peacock’s Bel-Air is doing “The Carlton” again after renewing the fan-favorite drama for a fourth and final season. Bel-Air is a contemporary reimagining of the beloved ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, starring a young Will Smith as a Philadelphia import learning to navigate the lap of luxury in Los Angeles, California. The evolution of Bel-Air is remarkable. The series comes from Morgan Cooper’s four-minute viral short, which presents a more grounded and grittier take on the characters and premise of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Bel-Air helped put Peacock’s name in the spotlight as one of the streamer’s most successful original series.

Bel-Air's Future on Peacock Gets Both Good and Bad News
Image
Now, this is a story all about how the future of Bel-Air got flipped, turned upside-down. The series, which served as a more dramatic reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is not going to have as long of a run as the show it's based on, which lasted six seasons.

Per Deadline, it has been revealed that Bel-Air has been renewed for Season 4. The update on the show's future comes three months after the third season concluded its run on Peacock, and as there were concerns about a cancelation, it should come as good news for fans to know the series will continue. However, the reveal comes with some bad news, as it's also being reported that Season 4 will serve as the final season of the show. Additionally, Season 4 will reportedly have a smaller episode count, expected to consist of eight episodes, two lower than the 10 featured in the three prior seasons.

The news comes roughly three months after the finale of Season 3 of the series, which serves as a dramatic reimagining of the beloved sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” It was originally picked up at Peacock in 2020 with a two season commitment.

The cast for the series includes Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, Simone Joy Jones.

Like the sitcom version, “Bel-Air” follows a teenager named Will (Jabari Banks), who moves from West Philadelphia to live with his auntie and uncle in the titular posh Los Angeles neighborhood. The series is inspired by a viral video created by Morgan Cooper that reimagined the original sitcom as a drama series.

The series has also featured a wide range of notable guest stars, including...

‘Bel-Air’ Renewed For Fourth & Final Season By Peacock
Image
Exclusive: Bel-Air, which helped put Peacock on the original series map, will be coming to an end. The modern-day drama reimagining of the popular ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has been picked up for a fourth season, which will be its last. According to sources, the final season will consist of eight episodes, fewer than the 10 episodes in each of the first three seasons.

The renewal comes three months after Bel-Air, produced by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios, released its Season 3 finale on Sept. 5. According to sources, it was preceded by behind-the-scenes budget conversations, which could explain the delay. The most recent Season 3 renewal came ahead of the series’ Season 2 finale.

Peacock stepped up in a major way to land Bel-Air in a very competitive situation when the project was taken out in 2020, handing the drama, based on Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer, a two-season pickup.

10 Perfect Series Finales That Left No Unanswered Questions
Image
Throughout the history of television, audiences have been blessed with many beloved shows that have tackled all genres, highlighted memorable characters and visualized terrific episodic or serial narratives. At the same time, some of the best television series also struggle with the stressful and almost impossible challenge of ending a show on a high note. Whether trying to satisfy viewers, complete all narrative plot lines or respect the legacy of the show itself, dozens of series finales have been met with disappointment.

As a huge complaint for all poorly executed finales, unanswered threads leave viewers disheartened and ultimately ruin the experience of watching a show when a messy ending overshadows the entire series. Moreover, the lack of narrative satisfaction also highlights weak craftsmanship and insults the loyal fanbase that was dedicated to a specific show. However, among the sea of mishandled series finales, some television shows not only stick the...

Rose McGowan
This Cult Classic Black Comedy Has a New Streaming Home
Rose McGowan
Jawbreaker has found a new streaming home. The pitch-black 1999 teen comedy starring Rose McGowan and Judy Greer is coming to Peacock next month; it will be available on the service starting on October 1. Released in the winter of 1999, the film was the brainchild of filmmaker Darren Stein (The Boulet Brothers' Dragula), who wrote and directed the film. Inspired by the seminal dark high school comedy Heathers, the film is an examination of cruelty and depravity that lurk beneath the surface of teenage life. With a candy-colored production design and a soundtrack full of late-1990s indie pop, the film is a time capsule of the late Clinton Administration, and has retained a cult following. It features a number of teen stars of the past in small roles, including Carrie's William Katt and P.J. Soles, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's Tatyana Ali, and Grease's Jeff Conaway.

Image
Courtney B. Vance is a Tony- and Emmy-winning actor and the president of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. To Vance, legendary actor James Earl Jones was known as “Jimmy.” The two first met in the 1980s while starring in August Wilson’s drama “Fences,” which went on to win the Pulitzer Prize and four Tony Awards, including Jones’ prize for best leading actor in a play. Here, Vance reflects on the “Fences” family, their enduring friendship and his final visit with his onstage father.

James lived in upstate New York, and I was there about six months ago. The whole family was there, and we were all just laughing, talking about old times. He said to me, “Courtney, they’ve got me so ensconced in this bubble, I think I’m gonna live to be 100.” I said, “Jimmy, I know you will.” We didn’t have a chance to reminisce about our experience with “Fences,...

Every Original Fresh Prince Actor Who Returns In Bel-Air's Remake
Image
Bel-Air features multiple cameos from actors who starred in the series its based on, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, paying tribute to the original and bringing the shows together. Bel-Air is a more dramatic take on the story from the 1990s sitcom, which has led to changes to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air characters. This also allows the reboot to stand apart from the original, with a unique twist on what viewers know and love. In many ways, Bel-Air stands alone as a series, and the Fresh Prince cameos are a nice reminder of the source material.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air starred Will Smith as a fictionalized version of himself. The series focuses on Wills life after moving from West Philly to live with his rich aunt, uncle, and cousins in Bel-Air, California. The Fresh Princes Banks family became one of the most popular 1990s sitcom families, making appearances...

[This story contains spoilers from Bel-Air season three, episode six, “Baggage.”]

School’s out for summer in season three of Bel-Air when it finds its lead characters, Will Smith (Jabari Banks) and Carlton Banks (Olly Sholotan), begrudgingly working at a country club at Uncle Phil’s (Adrian Holmes) urging, rather than wreaking havoc in the classroom.

“We were all excited for summer in Bel-Air because we’ve never done that before,” showrunner Carla Banks Waddles tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We’ve always been in the school hallways and in school uniforms. So just knowing that we were going to be outside meant new sets … and really focusing on what are the iconic summer things for kids in L.A. and being able to talk about all of that: Juneteenth, fireworks, beaches, bikinis, hot tubs, swimming pools.”

While playing with new environments in its latest season, which debuted on Peacock on Aug. 15, the Fresh Prince of...

How ‘Abbott Elementary’ Pulled Off Its Biggest Casting Coup (So Far): Bradley Cooper
Image
Landing high-profile guest stars to populate the world of Quinta Brunson’s “Abbott Elementary” became considerably easier for casting director Wendy O’Brien, who won an Emmy in 2022, as the ABC comedy’s popularity skyrocketed in the last three years. But juggling the flurry of cameo requests for Season 3 came with its own set of unique challenges — one O’Brien welcomed.

“In Season 1, nobody knew who we were,” she said. “In Season 2, the pulse of the show kept getting bigger and wider. In Season 3, it was unbelievable the people who were pitched to me and, I can only imagine, to Quinta.”

Even with the increase in volume of phone calls coming into the casting department, the directive has largely remained the same since the series first began. “The cameos have to make sense so they aren’t there to be distracting,” O’Brien explained. “They still push the story forward and...

‘Abbott Elementary’ and ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Casting Directors On Bringing in Famous Faces From Meryl Streep to Keegan-Michael Key
Image
After three seasons, it should be easier to cast the kids of ABC’s “Abbott Elementary,” but Emmy-nominated casting director Wendy O’Brien says that the show’s popularity has made it tougher.

“It’s a struggle to find and vet young actors that don’t have a lot of experience. Especially when you’re talking about a kindergarten class,” admits O’Brien, who took home the gold two years ago for the same show.

While a 5-or 6-year-old might not have much acting experience under their belt, O’Brien says the upside to the series and its success is that she has seen an uptick in the number of kids being submitted for her consideration.

“A lot of them are auditioning in nice blue collared shirts, already in character. We’re definitely seeing more newcomers trying out,” she says.

Before O’Brien even sends casting suggestions to the producers, she...

Coco Jones Says Karyn Parsons Has Given Her a ‘Bel-Air’ Stamp of Approval

Like Will Smith, who started his career as an emcee before transitioning into a leading man onscreen in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, music was a first love for Coco Jones before she became a Disney child star and landed the role of Hilary Banks on the Peacock reimagining of the ‘90s sitcom, Bel-Air.

The duo shared the stage at an Aug. 1 barbecue at the Universal Studios backlot in Los Angeles ahead of the drama’s season three premiere on Aug. 15. Smith rapped the lyrics to his Grammy Award-winning hit “Summertime,” while Jones sang the chorus.

“Will and I are similar in the regard of being actors and balancing our music careers with our TV shows, so I really respect him,” Jones tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding of the performance, “it was a fun opportunity to promote a great show and great art.”
