In the August 1987 Stardust magazine, Karan Kapoor had very controversial interview published. He blasted the film industry ways, its actors and their talent, the quality of movies made in India, the heroines and their looks and how he preferred to live in New York and London compared to Bombay.

In 1993 there was major talks for a comeback. Prahlad Kakkar was planning to turn director and sign Karan. The film never got made.

Was involved with Hollywood actress Madeliene Potter in 1985.

Was about to be signed for the lead role in Zafar Hai's "The Perfect Murder". The director later changed his mind saying Karan was not talented enough for the role.

Rajkumar Kohli wanted to make a 3D film with Karan Kapoor in 1986. He wanted to wrap it up in 2 months. Karan declined the offer and the film was never made.

Jyotin Goel had signed Karan Kapoor for a film in 1985. He promised him he would complete the project in 3 months. But every weekend he would meet Karan, he would keep changing the story line. He finally wanted to remake Beverly Hills Cop. Karan had enough and excused himself from the film. The project was finally made as Inaam Dus Hazaar with Sanjay Dutt.

B. Subash offered Karan Kapoor the lead role in Tarzan. But Karan felt he did not have a good enough body for the role.

Karan Kapoor was offered the film Tere Baahon Mein but he declined. He was not comfortable being in a loin cloth.

A English version of Jaadugar with Amitabh was planned titled "Godman". This was in 1987. For the second lead role, Prakash Mehra wanted Karan Kapoor. Prakash Mehra sent Karan Kapoor's photograph's to his NRI producer's who were in America. If they would agree to cast Karan the film,it would make him a star in Hollywood. Godman was canceled due to budget issue's. Only Jaadugar was made.
