Biography

    • Born in Barcelona, studied Design and Photography at Eina Design School and graduated in Theory of Arts at Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona. Since 1986 is Director of Photography on film productions and documentaries of all types. Josep Civit started working internationally with well-known directors such as Bigas Luna, Monte Hellman, Daniel Calparsoro, Agustí Villaronga, Brian de Palma, Keith English, Adrian Noble, Andi Baiz, Guillermo Navarro, Denis Rovira among others. He combines his passion for feature films with his work in documentaries. Josep won two Gaudí Best Cinematography Awards of the Catalan Academy of Cinema for the films 'Incerta Glòria' (2018) and 'The King of Havana' (2016) both directed by Agustí Villaronga. He was nominated at Goya Awards for Best Cinematography in 2016 for 'The King of Havana' and in Camerimage 2004 for 'Warriors' directed by Daniel Calparsoro. Recently he won Best Cinematography at Málaga Film Festival 2021 for his work in 'The Belly of the Sea'.
