Rapper/actor Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi can currently be seen on the big screen in the latest John Woo action film Silent Night, and now Deadline has reported that Mescudi has lined up his next acting project: he will be starring in and producing the animated monster movie Slime.

Slime will mark the feature directorial debut of animator / Baby Demon creator Jeron Braxton, who’s working from a screenplay written by The Boondocks‘ Brian Ash. The project is said to be “a classic monster movie decked out in fashion-forward video game skins that are wickedly satirical, scary as hell and trippy Af.” With this movie, Braxton is aiming to “build a sonic/visual experience that marries his distinct style with a trippy, elevating original soundtrack.”

After appearing in Ti West’s slasher movie X last year, Scott Mescudi (aka Kid Cudi) will next be starring in new animated feature Slime, Deadline reports today.

Slime is described as “a classic monster movie decked out in fashion-forward video game skins that are wickedly satirical, scary as hell and trippy Af.”

The film marks the feature directorial debut by animator Jeron Braxton (“Baby Demon”). Brian Ash (“The Boondocks“) wrote the script and serves as executive producer.

Exclusive: Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi (Entergalactic) will star in and produce the new animated feature Slime which will serve as animator Jeron Braxton’s (Baby Demon) feature directorial debut. Brian Ash (The Boondocks) penned the script and will executive produce.

The project hails from Mescudi’s production banner Mad Solar alongside Hammerstone Studios and Capstone Global.

Fuse Media is getting a head-start on upfront season, unveiling its 2019-20 slate today. The lineup is highlighted by three new series, several returning ones and multiple premiere dates.

Targeting diverse, millennial and Gen Z viewers, Fuse TV has greenlighted new series Made from Scratch, a docu-cooking show with Latinx rapper Young M.A.; The Read with Kid Fury and Crissle West (working title), a talk/variety show based on the hosts’ podcast; and Sugar and Toys, Fuse’s first foray into adult animation, from Black Dynamite and The Boondocks producers Carl Jones and Brian Ash. Exclusive: Fuse Media is adding some adult animation to its flagship network’s 2019 lineup, which will also air new seasons of original shows Complex x Fuse and T-Pain’s School of Business.

Sugar and Toys, from Carl Jones and Brian Ash (producers of Black Dynamite and The Boondocks for Adult Swim) will be the first adult animation title on Fuse. It is described by the network as “a wild new twist on the Saturday morning cartoons we all grew up with — but a whole lot less innocent.”

The half-hour comedy sends up toy commercials and PSAs, tackling a range of social issues and featuring bookended host segments with rapper and actor Kyle (Netflix’s The After Party). Along with Jones and Ash, Aengus James and Colin King Miller are executive producers. Kyle Harvey is Co-Executive Producer and Lalo Alcaraz is Consulting Producer. This is Just a Test and 245 Enterprises are producers.

I don't know when, how, or for what reason you removed Black Dynamite from your instant queue...but that s*** best be remedied. If you happen to be a fan of Scott Sanders' 2009 blaxploitation send-up Black Dynamite and you were hoping to one day see a sequel, you'll be happy to hear that further adventures of the badass former CIA agent are on the way. They won't be coming to the big screen, however... instead, Adult Swim is producing a Black Dynamite animated series that is due to premiere sometime next year. Michael Jai White, Byron Minns, Kym Whitley and Tommy Davidson all return to provide voices with Carl Jones and Brian Ash (The Boondocks) on board as writers. The pilot episode can now be watched in its entirety online for free, and it looks like it should make a great addition to the Adult Swim line-up. I'm not entirely convinced that most of the obvious jokes won't eventually get run into the ground, but as a pilot episode I thought it was pretty strong.

Back in October it was announced that a Black Dynamite animated series was going in to production and would further chronicle the exploits of Black Dynamite and his crew, and now Adult Swim have officially announce they have picked up the series, executive produced by Carl Jones (The Boondocks, Freaknik: The Musical)and featuring the voice talents of Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley, Byron Minns, Clifton Powell and Jb Smoove, for the 2012-2013 season.

Have you seen the movie Black Dynamite yet? If not you should give it a go, it's currently up on Instant Netflix. The movie is hilariously badass, and Cartoon Network's Adult Swim has now picked up a Black Dynamite animated series that is sure to be fun-ass series. 

Black Dynamite further chronicles the exploits of the central character, ex-cia agent and full-time ladies man Black Dynamite, and his crew as they avenge the death of Black Dynamite's brother against kung-fu masters, drug-dealing pimps and The Man and his crew.

The series is being developed for us by Carl Jones (The Boondocks), and it will feature the voices of the cast from the original film, which includes Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley and Byron Minns.

I'm excited to see how this turns out. The 30-minute animated series is set to premiere in the spring of 2012.

Based on the 2009  feature, Black Dynamite further chronicles the exploits of the central character, ex-cia agent and full-time ladies man Black Dynamite, and his crew as they avenge the death of Black Dynamite's brother against kung-fu masters, drug-dealing pimps and The Man and his crew. Spearheaded by Carl Jones (The Boondocks), the series features the voices of Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Kym Whitley and Byron Minns, all of whom starred in the feature. Black Dynamite, animated by Titmouse, is produced by Ars Nova Entertainment.  Jones, Jon Steingart and Jillian Apfelbaum executive produce. Brian Ash is co-executive producer. Scott Sanders, Michael Jai White and Byron Minns are producers.

Obviously timed with the release of the comic book, Black Dynamite: Slave Island, out at the end of this month, March 30th.

First announced last year, at Comic Con in San Diego – a comic book series based on the 2009 cult film, Black Dynamite, which starred Michael Jai White, directed by Scott Sanders.

At the time, we had no Eta, or even what exactly the graphic novel would contain in terms of story and other content.

But we know a lot more now!

First… it’ll be called Black Dynamite: Slave Island, and was written by Brian Ash (The Boondocks), and illustrated by Jun LoFamia and Jm Ringuet.

Second… its synopsis, according to Amazon.com, reads, Black Dynamite: Slave Island “follows everyone’s favorite blaxploitation sensation as he brings his bad-ass brand of kung-fu to the sequential page! Based on the eponymous film starring Michael Jai White, Black Dynamite uses his fists of fury to shut down a mysterious island of slavers!”

Third… it’ll be 48 pages long.
