Time After Time Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Out of Time
Picking up the morning after the two-hour premiere ended, Time After Time Season 1 Episode 3 gives us a beautifully mundane snapshot of a morning in the life of our newly modernized Jack the Ripper.

Showering, picking out clothes and accessories, figuring out the microwave, watching the news, and killing the apartment's other occupant when he returns home from a business trip before returning to the kitchen to eat his breakfast burrito.

I did wonder after the premiere how Stevenson was going to continue his lifestyle once the $15,000 he got for his pawned pocket-watch ran out.

Apparently, picking victims for their real estate and wardrobe is part of his cunning scheme.

When I met you, I must admit I was first drawn to your beauty... and then it was your kindness that emerged as your most luminous feature. But now I see that you are the sum of many parts, with your mind leading the way.

Time After Time Series Premiere: Time is No Barrier When Chasing a Killer
Series premieres are incredibly tricky balancing acts between good world-building and engaging action.

On Time After Time Season 1 Episode 1 and Time After Time Season 1 Episode 2, we are thrown immediately into the world of Victorian England with its dark and dangerous alleyways alongside genteel

This is perfectly illustrated by the opening scene, depicting one of Jack the Ripper's brutal murders, followed by drinks at the home of H.G. Wells where the killer strolls in, totally accepted as just one of the guys.

The show's central characters – H.G. Wells as portrayed by Freddie Stroma and Josh Bowman's Dr. John Stevenson aka "Jack the Ripper" – are perfectly displayed in contrast to each other when H.G. reveals his time machine.

While the rest of his guests tease him about having too much time on his hands, Stevenson immediately jumps into the seat and wants to take it for a spin.

What was...

Helix season 1 finale review: Dans L'Ombre
Review Billy Grifter 31 Mar 2014 - 13:30

The Helix season 1 finale is a narrative lasagne layered with confusion and idiocy, says Billy...

This review contains spoilers.

1.13 Dans L'Ombre

It has been 48 hours since I watched Dans L'ombre, and I intentionally gave myself a cooling off time, before writing this. I can’t hold back any longer, this was a huge rebuff to anyone who was crazy enough to stick with this painfully irrational show.

What was obvious as I was watching it, and confirmed afterwards, was that Helix has a second season, and the writers knew this when they penned an abysmal ending to this one. Having created some narrative and tension about how things would end in the Arctic base, it was all blown up (literally and a narratively) like it’s been obvious it would be from the pilot onwards.

How this came about was stupid in the extreme,...

Production Officially Begins on Edgar Wright's 'The World's End'; Cast Added
Oh glorious day! Edgar Wright along with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are back together to wrap up their Blood and Ice Cream trilogy, with The World's End. If you've been anxiously awaiting them to get back together for this final movie (as I have) then today's a good day as the announcement has come in that filming has officially begun.

Apparently Martin Freeman and Ediie Marsan have also joined the cast, so that's not bad news either. I couldn't be more pleased. Edgar Wright has quickly become one of my favorite working directors, and I'm keenly interested in just about anything he does. Shaun of the Dead remains one of my favorite films and nary a week goes by that Scott Pilgrim isn't in my blu-ray player at some point. Call me obsessed, I just don't care.

Anyway, here's the official press release about the start of production:

Working Title Films...
