What better place to draw inspiration for an exorcism movie than The Bible?

Unholy Song ties back to the Miracle of the Gadarene Swine, an exorcism performed by Jesus Christ as chronicled in the New Testament.

After releasing an evil witch from its cursed tape, a landlord and his two new renters must confront their fears and skepticism to cast the entity in the back into the bones of the swine – and forever trap the evil under the original spell.

Written and directed by Arthur G. Night, the indie horror film will be released in select theaters on February 28.

Jessica K. Chaves, Christopher Orozco, Quint Gabriel, Sean Gestl, and Eric Parkinson star.

“It’s hard for a low-budget indie thriller to compete with the $50-million+ major studio releases,” says Parkinson. “But we think Unholy Song is a pretty cool film, and we’ve already seen terrific audience responses.”

Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro” has been announced as the spotlight gala film at the 61st New York Film Festival.

“Maestro is a bravura achievement for its director and star, a work of conviction and imagination that does justice to the brilliance and complexity of its subject,” said Dennis Lim, artistic director of New York Film Festival. “We are honored to have Bradley Cooper’s enthralling film as a gala presentation at this year’s festival, and doubly so to be showing it in a venue that is synonymous with Leonard Bernstein.”

“Maestro” is a biographical romance in which Cooper plays the famed conductor Leonard Bernstein. Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for “Maestro,” Bradley Cooper’s second directorial effort that sees the actor star as conductor Leonard Bernstein.

The biographical romance, which Cooper also co-wrote and produced, chronicles the life of the acclaimed conductor and composer with a focus on his tumultuous 25-year marriage to Felicia Montealegre.

Co-starring opposite Cooper is “She Said” actor Carey Mulligan as Montealegre. Maya Hawke plays their daughter, Jamie, and Sam Nivola plays their son, Alexander. Additional cast members include Matt Bomer, Sarah Silverman, Gideon Glick, Gabe Fazio, Eric Parkinson, William Hill, Nick Blaemire, Oscar Pavlo, Tim Rogan and Mallory Portnoy.

Producers include Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Fred Berner, Amy Durning and Kristie Macosko Krieger, and executive producers are Carla Raij, Josh Singer, Bobby Wilhelm, Weston Middleton and Tracey Landon. Berlin — Wide has closed deals in major territories for two Berlinale players, Alexander Gorchilin’s dark Russian drama “Acid,” which screened in Panorama, and Tamer Jandali’s “Easy Love,” which opened the Perspektive Deutsches Kino program.

“Acid” (pictured) is the gritty directorial debut of Gorchilin, a 26-year-old Russian theater actor and protégé of celebrated filmmaker Kirill Serebrennikov. The film follows an aimless class of young Russians who, fueled by sex, drugs and techno, struggle to find hope and meaning in a brutal world. Wide has sold the film to Germany (Salzberger), Japan (The Klockworx), Poland (Spectator) and Greece (One From the Heart).

The film is produced by Studio Slon and Truemen Pictures. It stars Filipp Avdeev, Alexander Kuznetsov, Arina Shevtsova, and Savva Saveliev.

Us distributor Hannover House has acquired North American distribution rights to the independent horror film The Amityville Asylum.

The film focuses on cleaner Lisa Templeton, who experiences supernatural occurrences and intimidation from dangerous patients while working the night shift at a mental institution in Amityville. The film was written, produced, and directed by Welsh filmmaker Andrew Jones. The cast includes Eileen Daly (Razor Blade Smile), Jared Morgan (Vengeance Day), and Sophia Del Pizzo (Lovely Monster). Robert Graham of Independent Moving Pictures served as executive producer. The UK distribution rights have previously been acquired by 4Digital Media, who recently gave the film a limited theatrical release in UK cinemas.

Hannover House has acquired the exclusive, worldwide production rights to Primate, a sci-fi thriller about a cryptozoological creature that terrorizes a team of Bigfoot researchers. The property was written by Andrew Sands (Airspeed, Beyond Loch Ness) and is planned for a USA production in September.

"We have been tracking this project for several years," said Eric Parkinson, C.E.O. of Hannover House. "Andrew has crafted a terrifying thriller that combines the suspense of 'Alien' with the legend of Bigfoot. We think the potential market for the film transcends the normal expectation for monster and creature features, and reaches into a mainstream audience. Two years ago, the Terminator franchise was in deep trouble. After the failure of Terminator Salvation, the rights to the series itself were tied up in legal limbo as lethal as the Judgment Day warzones. While studios like Sony Pictures and Lionsgate were bidding to own the post-apocalyptic action-adventure films, Arkansas film distribution center Hannover House decided to bypass the entire auction mess and go ahead and announce their own Terminator film: the 3D CGI-animated reboot Terminator 3000.

The CEO of Hannover House, Eric Parkinson, had decades earlier served as the CEO of Hemdale Home Video, the video distribution center that handled the home video release of the original 1984 James Cameron film The Terminator. Parkinson believed that his new company still retained some rights to the original film and took the opportunity to annonce their own new film. A couple of years ago, it was revealed that an animated Terminator film was being pursued, under the name Terminator 3000. However, the project seemed to have been scrapped not long after the announcement. But now, The Arnold Fans managed to chat with Hannover House President Eric Parkinson to find out what's currently going on with the production, and he confirmed that the project isn't dead yet. Hannover House and Annapurna Pictures currently hold the rights to The Terminator franchise, which revert back to James Cameron in 2018. While Terminator 5 has long been rumored to be the next film in the franchise, directed by Justin Lin and returning Arnold Schwarzenegger to the role that made him a worldwide icon, an animated feature film titled Terminator 3000 may come first.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is rumored to be interested in voicing the lead character, which will be CG animated in the same style as James Cameron's Avatar. A new piece of concept art, a title treatment created to help pitch the film, has been revealed. Just a few days ago, we brought you the news that Hannover House and Red Bear Entertainment were developing Terminator 3000, a 3D animated feature film with a $70 million dollar budget, and the production team’s goal of minimizing the violence in order to obtain a PG-13 level of material in the film.

Now, Deadline reports that Pacificor, the company that owns the Terminator rights sent a cease and desist letter in response to Hannover’s press release about Terminator 3000, which was followed by a statement from Hannover’s Eric Parkinson.

Parkinson told them that he had just received his cease and desist letter, and had informed Pacificor’s attorneys of his proprietary rights position, and the fact that he has backers in place to make a movie and deliver a big rights fee to Pacificor.

A legal battle has put a hold on the recently announced Terminator 3000, and may end up scrapping it altogether.

This is one of those reasons that they tell us in Film School over and over again to acquire the rights to something before you plan on using it.  Last week it was announced that production company Hannover House was developing a PG-13, 3D animated Terminator movie to continue the franchise.

Many fans were actually not happy with the news, and cried foul at the idea of a PG-13 entry into the series.  I understand and I'm totally with them in that regard.  I want to see the franchise continue, but done in a proper fashion.  It could have been an interesting experiment, but I don't think it would ever feel like a real Terminator movie.

Plans to reboot The Terminator in a new movie have been thrown into jeopardy after the company which owns the rights to the sci-fi franchise lodged a legal objection.

Executives at production company Hannover House were set to start work on Terminator 3000, a new 3D animated reboot of the action movie series, which originally starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But officials at Pacificor, the firm which holds the rights, have now sent a cease-and-desist letter in a bid to halt production on the new film, which would be the fifth movie in the series following 2009's Terminator Salvation.

An excerpt of the letter, obtained by Deadline.com, reads, "Knowledge (of this project) came as a surprise to Pacificor. It did not license or authorise any such development or film. Indeed, it has not been contacted... seeking such a license or approval...

"Please be advised that... developing, producing, marketing or in any other way utilising characters and situations which are part of the Terminator Franchise infringes upon and interferes with Pacificor's ownership rights."

Hannover House's Eric Parkinson has confirmed he's received the letter, but insists he plans to keep pushing for a deal to licence the rights and allow the new movie to go ahead.

He says, "We've arranged a meeting, we'll show them our money and if the rational brain prevails, they'll take the deal. If not, I can't do it without them. You'll have a follow-up next week that we are either holding hands, or not doing the film... I hope they will think outside the box."...

Within a day of it being announced that the "Terminator" franchise was making a comeback through a 3D animated feature, the franchise's future is once again on uncertain ground.

Hannover House and Red Bear Entertainment issued the press release announcing the $70 million "Terminator 3000" project on Thursday, Hannover House's Eric Parkinson telling Deadline that the announcement was released earlier than intended "only because one of the potential production partners spoke publicly about it".

In any case the news obviously upset franchise rights holder Pacificor who quickly issued a cease and desist letter to the company. However it seems Parkinson, who once headed the home video division of original "The Terminator" film production company Hemdale, claims to own "certain proprietary rights" that allow him to make the film - specifically the animation rights.

What a strange and unhappy day for the once proud Terminator franchise. Remember about 16 months ago when it appeared that T3 was the downward turn and Terminator: Salvation with its Christian Bale performance and new direction was going to put everything back together again?

Well, Bale was not any good - a disturbing trend, actually - and the movie was mostly bland. Then the company that produced the film went bankrupt and the future of the futuristic property was up in the air. Earlier this year, financier Pacificor paid about $30 million for the rights. Why not James Cameron? You'd have to ask him.

Be that as it may, Hemdale, the original owners of the Terminator copyright, spun animation rights to Eric Parkinson when he left the company, according - not surprisingly - to Eric Parkinson. So he planned to make an animated film called Terminator 3000 and had apparently secured...

Well, that was quick. We reported earlier today that Hanover House intends to make a 3D animated feature titled Terminator 3000. This apparently didn’t sit too well with Pacificor, the company that owns the rights to the Terminator franchise — they sent a cease and desist letter to keep the film in a state of limbo. Hanover House CEO Eric Parkinson claims the press release announcing Terminator 3D was a response to someone associated with the project who discussed it publicly. He acknowledges that they’re in a bind now, unless they can reach a mutual agreement with Pacificor. If Terminator Salvation killed the Terminator franchise (and I believe it did), then Hannover House looks like it will be punching the corpse. Via a press release, the company says that it will develop Terminator 3000, a $70-million, 3D animated feature “based on the characters and situations introduced in the original Terminator feature.” And here’s the best part: “Story details for Terminator 3000 are being kept under close wraps, but the writers and production team have a stated goal of minimizing violence in order to obtain a PG-13 level of material.” Not to nitpick, but Salvation had plenty of violence an still got a PG-13. It looks like the next Terminator film that we see will be brought to us in the form of animation by Hannover House, which is the same company that for some reason picked up the distribution rights to Joel Schumacher's Twelve at Sundance this year. 

The company has officially announced that they are moving forward with a 3D animated $70 million dollar budgeted film production called Terminator 3000. The film will be based on the same characters and situations that were introduced to us in the original Terminator film. Other than that there are no other details revealed. It seems like this project is still in the early stages of development so there is no director attached or voice actors cast yet. 

I'm actually excited to see what they have planned for this, a big budget animated Terminator film could end up being pretty damn cool if executed properly, what do you all think?...

Regardless, it’s being reported this morning that Hannover House and Vancouver-based Red Bear Entertainment, are teaming up for Terminator 3000 - a proposed $70-million 3D animated feature film that will be based on the mythology and characters we’re all familiar with from prior Terminator movies.

Specific story details are unknown, but it’s worth noting that the production team behind the project have said that they will be shooting for a PG-13 rating, just as the last Terminator film was rated. The first 3 were all R-Rated films.

Plans for an animated "Terminator" feature film hit a roadblock Friday with franchise rights holder Pacificor sending a cease and desist letter to Hannover House, the firm that announced the project on Thursday.

As TheWrap reported, Pacificor says it did not "license or authorize" the film, called "Terminator 3000," and wants co-producers Hannover and Red Bear Entertainment to stop sending press releases with any references to "Terminator" or the proposed film, among other things.

Hannover House CEO Eric Parkinson maintains that he gained animation rights to the franchise as part of his compensation package when exiting as CEO of Hemdale Home Video and Hemdale Communications. Hemdale produced the first "Terminator" film and in 1990, released sequel rights that, after repeatedly changing hands, recently became the property of Pacificor at auction. Parkinson says animation rights were never included in Hemdale's "Terminator" transactions.

Market Watch is announcing that director Chad Ferrin, seen left (Someone's Knocking at the Door), will helm a new feature entitled Dances with Werewolves, Yes, you read that right and Hanover House along with Illusion Film Studios will partner to produce the film (Market). The film is in an early development stage, so a synopsis is a ways off, but early info' states that the film will be "based on...legendary, supernatural...Native American Warriors" (Market). Hannover House has just announced they will release Joel Schumacher's Twelve on July 2nd, pitting it in direct competition with Paramount and Nickelodeon's The Last Airbender and Summit's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which opens on June 30, the Wednesday prior.

The move is said to be in an attempt to offer counter-programming to the to Eclipse with a marketing strategy targeting young adults, 18 to 34 years old, with internet, social networking and other alternative media dominating over traditional advertising modes. Hannover House has acquired North American distribution rights for "Twelve," the teen drug drama directed by "Batman Forever"s' Joel Schumacher, according to an executive with the publishing firm's film arm. The deal was for approximately $2 million, and an agreement was reached at 11:30 Wednesday night.

Park City -- A new distributor has made its mark at Sundance and a veteran indie is back in the game as the result of two film pickups on Thursday. Several more sales were brewing.

The film and video division of independent book publisher Hannover House ponied up about $2 million for "Twelve," director Joel Schumacher's look at drug-dealing among privileged Manhattan teens that will play Friday as the fest's closing feature. Roeg Sutherland, who co-heads CAA's film finance group with Micah Green, shepherded the deal.

Meanwhile, Newmarket Films re-entered the fest market, picking up domestic rights to the Natalie Portman-produced drama "Hesher," starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, in a deal in the $1 million range.
