John McCarthy is a composer for film and television. His music is a hybrid of 'acoustical and electronic' elements and he has an extensive background in classical, jazz, rock and world music. John's first film De l'amour et des restes humains (1993) was directed by\ Denys Arcand. John scored episodes of the David Shore series Battle Creek (2015), he also scored the hit CBS television series Un tandem de choc (1994) for (Academy Award winner) Paul Haggis.. Other work include The Stone Angel (2007) starring Ellen Burstyn directed by Kari Skogland (in which he won the 2009 Genie Award [Canadian Academy Award] for best original score) and the NBC show My Own Worst Enemy (2008) staring Christian Slater.
