Sir Ridley Scott will start shooting his Bee Gees biopic in November 2025.The 87-year-old director is to tell the story of the band of brothers, comprised of Barry Gibb, Maurice Gibb and Robin Gibb, on the big screen and filming is tentatively scheduled to begin at the end of the year. When asked if he is shooting any movies in 2025, Ridley answered: "I am… the Bee Gees in November."I think so. That's what I dare say."Ridley says the movie from Paramount Pictures will tell the story of the trio from their childhood right up to the present day, covering their incredible impact on disco due to the soundtrack they created for 1977 movie 'Saturday Night Fever' - which starred John Travolta as dancer Tony Manero - and the deaths of Maurice and his fraternal twin Robin. In an interview with website Collider, he said: "It's really about...

Jimmy Fallon took the good with the bad during his time on “Saturday Night Live.”
During a recent appearance on “The Diary of a CEO” podcast, Fallon said that as a young comedian on “SNL,” he wanted to make everyone happy with his performances. Although he’s since realized it is an impossible task, at the time, it was “the absolute worst” when his jokes didn’t land.
“I want everyone to like me,” Fallon said. “I can’t stand [the hate]. I go, ‘Oh, my gosh. What can I do to make you like me?’ I think the answer is you can’t. You can’t make everyone like you. You just have to do what you do. And do the best that you can at what you do. And be happy with yourself.”
Fallon was on “SNL” from 1998 to 2004. During that time, he co-anchored “Weekend Update” with Tina Fey and...

Jacob Elordi just might be making his Ridley Scott debut: The actor is in talks to be replacing Paul Mescal in Scott’s post-apocalyptic thriller “The Dog Stars,” based on Peter Heller’s 2012 novel.
Mescal was originally set to have a “Gladiator II” reunion with director Scott for “The Dog Stars,” however, he had to exit after his casting as Paul McCartney in Sam Mendes’ four-part Beatles biopic. Yet now Elordi is expected to take his place. Variety first reported the casting negotiations. IndieWire has reached out to representatives for comment.
“The Dog Stars” centers on a pilot named Hig (Elordi) who befriends an ex-Marine gunman while battling a band of scavengers called Reapers. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where an unnamed pandemic has decimated American society.
The screen adaptation was co-written by Mark L. Smith and Christopher Wilkinson (“Ali”). Smith and Cliff Roberts are producing “The Dog Stars,...

Director Ridley Scott has opened up about why one of his next movies is in a genre he's never done before, explaining what influenced his decision to tackle something new. The longtime director's original claim to fame was his sci-fi movies, having created both the Alien and Blade Runner franchises. While he would continue to expand the Alien movie timeline with prequels like 2012's Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, he never got the chance to do the same with the Harrison Ford-led film. Instead, he began branching out into different genres across his career.
Despite creating two classic sci-fi franchises, Scott's historical epics have become his claim to fame. These include Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, and Napoleon, with the upcoming Gladiator II also falling into this category. Other realistic films he's done include Black Hawk Down, Body of Lies, and The Counselor, emphasizing just how much the director can embrace a multitude of film genres.

A mixed history in cinema seems to be counting against Madonna as she publicly discusses disagreements with studios over her biopic.
In a world where musical biopics seemed to get commissioned with greater ease than any other genre you’d think a Madonna movie would be an instant green light. After all, she’s an icon of pop with an incredibly interesting life story and a back catalogue of hits to rival any musical biopic that has come before.
The project did make it into some kind of development back in 2020, with Madonna and Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody working on an early version. Then Erin Cressida Wilson was drafted in to co-write alongside Madonna before the project was scrapped by Universal.
Before that happened the planned film had even found its Madonna: Julia Garner, an actor whose star continues to rise following a string of impressive performances was set to...

In a grim turn of events, two drummers for The Bee Gees have died within less than a week. Dennis Bryon, who played on many of the group’s biggest hits, passed away at the age of 76 on November 14th. Just days later, earlier drummer Colin “Smiley” Petersen died at 78 years old on November 18th.
According to The New York Times, former Bee Gees member Blue Weaver first announced Bryon’s death on Facebook this past Thursday. The two musicians were also in the UK bands Amen Corner and Fair Weather together.
Born in Cardiff, Wales on April 14th, 1949, Bryon started drumming as a teenager and found success in the UK with Amen Corner before joining the Bee Gees in 1973 — just as the band was about to go disco.

Put on your favorite Bee Gees song. What catches your attention first? In the opening moments of “Stayin’ Alive,” “Night Fever,” or “More Than a Woman,” before the golden harmonies of the brothers Gibb come in, it’s probably the disco backbeat running through the whole song. And you can thank the late Dennis Bryon for that.
Bryon, who died at age 76 on Nov. 14, according to The New York Times, joined the Bee Gees in the early 1970s and stayed in the band through 1980 — a tenure that matches up precisely with their most successful era.

Colin Petersen, the original Bee Gees drummer who played on such classic 1960s tracks as “I Started a Joke,” “To Love Somebody” and “I Just Gotta Get a Message to You,” died Monday. He was 78.

He enriched our lives and bound our group with love, care and respect. Not sure how we can go on without his glowing smile and deep friendship. We love you Col. Rest in Peace.” No cause of death was given.

The actor and film-maker’s ingenious comedy sees her play a gamut of characters who meet gory ends chasing a not-worth-it love interest
The Taoist philosopher Zhuangzi dreamed he was a butterfly – but couldn’t be sure if the butterfly wasn’t the one having the dream about him. Film-maker Alice Lowe dreams her way into a cosmically recurring persona in this likably chaotic, flawed comedy; she plays a woman who regenerates Blackadderishly throughout the years, from the 1680s to the 1980s, forever in love with the same man, forever destined to sacrifice herself for him, almost but not quite in possession of the knowledge that this guy is unworthy of her. At each stage, the incarnations of the past are perhaps dream-memories and the personae of the future are prophecies. Or … is she just very, very mad?

I dreamed about him. I got up at 5 a.m. to go downstairs and have a private cry. There was a Kris-shaped mantra running through my head, right in the center of the deep sadness: “Do better. Be bigger. Speak truth. Don’t let the bastards get you down. Write about it.”
The space he left is filled with more than grief. It has a sense of urgency.
Time is a thief.
I’ve never known anyone as authentically themselves as Kris. His very thoughts had an armament of courage.

"Joker 2," or "Joker: Folie à Deux" as absolutely nobody calls it, is finally here! And the results ... are mixed (although you can read our pretty positive review right here). For the sequel to his billion dollar hit "Joker," director Todd Phillips has made a film that deliberately sets out to interrogate the audience of the first film. "Oh, you liked Arthur Fleck?" Phillips is asking here. "Why??" In theory, this is a fascinating idea. I'm all for sequels that try to deconstruct and re-contextualize what came before. On top of that, "Joker 2" is a musical! All of this sounds great on paper.
Unfortunately, the film is a bit of a slog. It's so joyless and dour that watching it begins to feel like a chore. On top of that, Phillips seems genuinely afraid of embracing the musical aspect of the movie — which makes you wonder why the hell...

An Ohio woman was scammed out of $122,000 by an online imposter claiming to be former Journey vocalist Steve Perry.
According to the local Wkyc news outlet, the woman was contacted by the fake Perry via Facebook messenger in January, and the two kept correspondence over several months by messaging on WhatsApp. Claiming that he had a “business opportunity” — and that he “needed a woman in his life” — the scammer soon got the woman to start sending him money.

By the time she wises up to what was happening, $122,000 had already slipped away — $50,000 in gift cards and $72,000 in the form of wire transfers to “various persons in various different states, designated by ‘Perry,’ through her bank,” according to the police report.
The final tipping point for the woman came when the fake Perry began getting more demanding, and asked for photos of her passport and driver’s license.

Kicking off the start of Summer with the big Memorial Day weekend, a new documentary poses the question: What’s the “go-to” music for this season? Well, for the past 63 years, it’s been these pop icons out of Hawthorne, California, of course. Their signature songs invoke memories of ocean waves hitting the sand as eager athletes run through the foam with their trusty boards. Interestingly only one member of the original band surfed, though when watching a blonde adonis catching a “tasty wave”, you automatically, in your head, recall the sweet infectious harmonies of The Beach Boys.
After opening with glorious footage of an electric 1975 outdoor concert (naturally in the bright Summer sun), the doc springs back 15 or so years to the modest suburban home on 119th Street when the eldest Wilson brother Brian became fascinated by the careful vocal craftsmanship of the Four Freshmen along with other musical acts.

Ridley Scott is known for dark, iconic films like Alien and Gladiator, but his next project is a departure. After Napoleon and Gladiator 2, Scott will direct a biopic about The Bee Gees, a surprising shift in genre. Despite Scott's dark film legacy, he has experience with biopics, making The Bee Gees project a fitting choice.
Although Ridley Scott stood out in 2023 for his historical action film, Napoleon, and his upcoming sequel, Gladiator 2, the next film on his docket is going to put him in an entirely new light. Ridley Scott is an English filmmaker who is best known for projects like Alien, Blade Runner, and Gladiator. Since the 1970s, Scott has worked on iconic projects that are typically dark, unique, and full of crime or violence. He is a master of science fiction, historical fiction, and stories of the human condition. In this way, his next film will be his biggest departure yet.

Ridley Scott is in talks to direct the Bee Gees biopic in the works at Paramount Pictures, with Barry Gibb set to executive produce and Gladiator’s screenwriter, John Logan, set to provide the script.
The news was shared by Deadline in a report explaining that Paramount is hoping to follow up Bob Marely: One Love with the still-untitled Bee Gees biopic they’ve been developing since they acquired the Gibb family estate and the rights to the band’s hit songs in 2019. Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King was an early sign-on to the project, and for a period of time Kenneth Branagh was slated to direct.
Now, though, Scott is in the director’s chair, which is actually pretty fitting. Early in his career, Scott collaborated with the Bee Gees’ longtime-manager Robert Stigwood on a film project that would star the band themselves. The film never came into fruition,...

Ridley Scott looks set to take on the long-in-gestation biopic of the Bees Gees, according to a new report: more here.
The official biopic of the musical brothers The Bee Gees has gone through a couple of gestations in recent times. I remember stories writing about when Kenneth Branagh was set to direct the film. Then, Sing Street’s John Carney was attached. Now though? It looks as if the thing is finally going to get made, because Sir Ridley Scott looks set to jump aboard.

This week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” saw Dakota Johnson stopping by Studio 8H to promote her role in the upcoming “Spider-Man” spin-off “Madame Web.” It was only her second time hosting the beloved sketch comedy series, but she quickly found herself flanked by some “SNL” royalty during her opening monologue.
The episode’s musical guest was none other than Justin Timberlake, a member of the Five Timer’s Club whose many hosting gigs have spawned some of the most beloved sketches of the show’s modern era. As Johnson began her monologue, Timberlake invited himself on stage and was quick to offer his services as a host.
“If you want me to be in sketches — I have hosted before,” Timberlake said, holding up his hand to signify his five prior hosting appearances. “First he was bringing sexy back, and now he’s bringing coming back.”

Over 20 years after Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon first debuted “The Barry Gibb Talk Show” on Saturday Night Live, the duo revived the sketch on the latest episode.
The premise remains unchanged after two decades and a handful of sketches: Fallon and Timberlake’s Barry and Robin Gibb welcome politicians and experts onto their show, despite the Bee Gees brothers having little understanding of politics. Instead of a thought-provoking conversation on the subject, Barry instead berates the guests, while he and his brother sporadically break into song.

During Dakota Johnson’s Saturday Night Live monologue, she acknowledged that she just can’t take “interviews seriously” while promoting her films.
The actress, who stars in the upcoming Marvel movie Madame Web, alongside Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced and Celeste O’Connor, has been doing a lot of press interviews for the film and realized, “I’m just not good at talking to journalists.”
“I think the big problem is that I say stuff and then they write it down and, and it’s really unfair because most of the time I’m joking,” she quipped.
But Johnson said she’s been that way for a long time, even when she was younger. She proceeded to show a video of herself on a red carpet in the ’90s with her father, actor Don Johnson, as a child. In the footage, she can be seen rolling her eyes.

Once it emerged that Justin Timberlake was returning to Saturday Night Live, it was inevitable that Barry Gibb would make an appearance.
Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon brought The Barry Gibb Talk Show back for its seventh appearance – over 10 years since it was last on the show.
Watch above.
As ever, the Tonight Show host and the former NSync star played Barry Gibb and his quiet brother Robin, who doesn’t have anything to add.
Continuing to use the Bee Gees’ “Nights on Broadway” as the basis for their parody, the Gibbs were joined by Bowen Yang, Keenan Thompson and host Dakota Johnson.
“You look like if Don King ate another Don King,” said Fallon’s Barry Gibb. “I fear nothing; I watched Saltburn with my entire family and I knew about the bathtub scene beforehand.”
“I am legend; I have not cried in 77 years except for Australian show Bluey,” he added.
