Taylor Sheridan loves to cameo in his own stuff as much as he loves horses and creating characters in shows that make no sense. In the case of the "Yellowstone" universe, for example, the world-builder appeared across centuries when he starred in both the flagship series, "Yellowstone" as Travis Wheatley and also his best prequel series, "1883," as Charlie Goodnight, providing one of the rare occasions when fact and fiction collided.
Starring as two different characters in the same universe was something Sheridan should have been used to, though. Long before his name on a script meant as much as it does now, the go-to scribe for Paramount did double duty in another show in 1994 that housed massive talents in the making like Neve Campbell, Matthew Fox, and Jennifer Love-Hewitt. The show was "Party of Five," which spanned six years and spawned a spin-off series of its own (albeit a...

On Oct. 17, 1997, Columbia Pictures unveiled I Know What You Did Last Summer in theaters, where it went on to gross $125 million worldwide and kickstarted a horror franchise for Sony. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review of the Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar film is below:
Having successfully persuaded horror audiences to Scream again, fright scribe Kevin Williamson follows up on that initial promise with I Know What You Did Last Summer, a good old-fashioned scarefest that relies on smartly constructed suspense, not buckets of gore or CGI over load, to coax viewers to the edge of their seats.
Backed by sharp direction from Scottish filmmaker Jim Gillespie and solid performances by Party of Five‘s Jennifer Love Hewitt and Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Sarah Michelle Gellar, the Columbia picture may be a mouthful for the marquee, but is certain to scare up potfuls of moolah when it...

The Fisherman is back in I Know What You Did Last Summer, and his hook is sharper than ever. Just ask star Madelyn Cline, whose character Danica becomes ruthlessly targeted by the killer.
Danica bears obvious parallels to the original slasher’s Helen Shivers (Sarah Michelle Gellar), including an ill-fated Fourth of July road accident that puts her and her four friends in the Fisherman’s crosshairs. That also extends to the character’s survival instincts, especially when it comes to the franchise’s beloved staple: chase sequences.
That the Fisherman is more vicious than ever meant a physically demanding role thanks to multiple chase scenes and harrowing encounters. It’s probably worth noting, then, that I Know What You Did Last Summer marks Cline’s first slasher role. It was a challenge that Cline was excited to tackle, picking up a few slasher tricks along the way.

There’s a new sequel to the 1997 slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer (watch it Here) and its 1998 follow-up I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (watch that one Here) coming our way from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge), aiming for a July 18 theatrical release. Jennifer Love Hewitt, who played heroine Julie James in the first two films, and Freddie Prinze Jr., who was Julie’s boyfriend Ray Bronson in those films, are reprising their roles – and they’re going to be facing off with a new “Fisherman” killer that’s stalking a whole new cast. JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray recently had the chance to talk to Prinze about the film, and during their conversation, Prinze revealed why he decided to come back for a new I Know What You Did Last Summer, even though he had previously turned down offers to return to the...

The past comes back to haunt in the upcoming legacy slasher sequel I Know What You Did Last Summer, from director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge).
The Fisherman is back and more vicious than ever when five friends cover up their involvement in a deadly car accident. One year later, they are targeted; someone knows what they did last summer and is hellbent on revenge.
The good news for the newcomers is that survivors Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.) are back, bringing invaluable experience with them when it comes to dodging that mean hook.
It’s not just experience that these legacy characters bring with them, but emotional baggage and trauma that amassed in the wake of time and outlasting two rounds with the Fisherman. It also means that the road to romance for Julie and Ray hasn’t been the smoothest since we last saw them.

Amidst all the hype about Superman, it may have slipped your mind that we're just a week away from the release of I Know What You Did Last Summer. While it definitely caters to more of a niche audience and will most certainly be overshadowed at the box office, that's not to say that horror fans aren't excited about the legacy sequel, especially those that grew up in the 90s and hold the original in high regard. However, for the true fans – the ones that live and breathe the genre – some recent comments made by star Freddie Prinze Jr. made us do a bit of a double take and ask, "What the heck is he talking about?"
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly about the I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel, Prinze Jr. was asked what it was like coming back together with fellow icon Jennifer Love Hewitt after almost three decades away.

Horror has been hot lately, and Hollywood loves a reboot. That being the case, Sony's "I Know What You Did Last Summer" seems like precisely the kind of film that one would find in the midst of the summer movie season. Serving as a legacy sequel to the 1997 box office hit of the same name, the hope is that this slasher can follow in the footsteps of horror flicks like "28 Years Later" and "Final Destination Bloodlines," turning once-popular franchises into modern hits. So, how are things shaping up?
The new "I Know What You Did Last Summer" is currently tracking to pull in between $16 and $25 million on its opening weekend domestically, per Box Office Theory. It's a surprisingly crowded weekend, with Ari Aster's "Eddington" and Paramount's new "Smurfs" movie also opening. Not to mention, it will be the second weekend for James Gunn's "Superman," which...

Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson with a script by Robinson and Sam Lansky, I Know What You Did Last Summer is the latest horror legacy sequel to hit the big screen. The fourth film in the Ikwydls franchise is bringing back surviving characters from the original films, like Jennifer Love Hewitt as Julie James and Freddie Prinze Jr. as Ray Bronson.
The plot pairs them alongside a fresh crop of new potential victims hoping to escape a similar killer. One popular survivor of the previous I Know What You Did Last Summer films who could also make an appearance is Brandy's Karla Wilson, who escaped Ben Willis' murderous rampage in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Although she hasn't been confirmed to be in the film by any of the promotional materials, the film's creatives suggested that the franchise isn't entirely done with Karla yet.

But even after more than three decades, Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 movie remains the highest-rated entry in the iconic film series, with a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score. Freddie Prinze Jr. is praising his work with co-star Jennifer Love Hewitt on the I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel.
The thriller directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson reunites Prinze and Love Hewitt to reprise their roles of Ray Bronson and Julie James, respectively.
“Whatever a high school union feels like, that’s what it felt like,” Prinze told People about the reunion. “You have no idea what’s changed, what’s the same. You’re excited to show what you think you’re better at, you know what I mean? You hope they notice it. It was all those things.”
Prinze noted that returning to the roles and a tight filming schedule had to have them trust each other, adding, “I didn’t have any reason not to trust her. I know how much this character means to her. She puts everything into this girl and always has since the first movie.

Amber set her sights on Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and kidnapped her, but Maddie saved herself by killing her kidnapper. Spencer is shifting gears in her next project, according to a report by Deadline. The All My Children and Timeless star has joined Josh Charles in Fox's remake of Doc Martin titled Best Medicine. Freddie Prinze Jr. thinks Saw turned other horror films into comedies. The 49-year-old actor - who will reprise his role as Ray Bronson in the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel - has opened up on how James Wan's 2004 horror film changed how fans reacted to the slasher genre after movies like Scream in the 1990s.Speaking to Extra, he recalled: "Every 10 years, horror films kind of evolve, right?"And it happens much more quickly than comedies or dramas or action movies or anything like that."And we had just come from a time when horror movies weren't really being respected. And it took Wes [Craven] to come in and kind of remind people… ‘Look what you can do with a low budget but a great script that's character-driven with wonderful set pieces'...“[After Scream] they started taking swings on other scripts. And they started giving opportunities to other scripts and ideas.

Joaquin Phoenix Had Vanished—But One Underrated Role Changed Everything(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Nicole Kidman played a quiet but crucial part in what became Joaquin Phoenix’s real beginning in the film. When he landed a role opposite her in To Die For in 1995, few outside the industry realized how much was riding on it for him.
At that point, Phoenix had been out of the game for a while, carrying the weight of his brother River’s death. It was a memory that burned deep into him since Halloween night of 1993, when River collapsed outside the Viper Room due to a drug overdose and never got back up. Joaquin, who was barely 19 at the time, was right there on the sidewalk, but he was helpless and dialing for help that came too late.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has confirmed the start of 9-1-1 season 9’s production. After Maddie suffered one of 9-1-1’s most gruesome injuries, Love Hewitt’s character earned a hopeful ending by giving birth to her second child and naming it after the dearly departed captain, Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). Nevertheless, 9-1-1 season 8 left many major questions unanswered.
Aside from the controversy surrounding Bobby's tragic death, there is uncertainty surrounding many characters and their season 9 arcs. Anirudh Pisharody's Ravi deserves to stay with the 118 in 9-1-1, but Eddie (Ryan Guzman) has officially moved back from Texas. Even Maddie has partially unresolved trauma from her horror movie-adjacent 9-1-1 season 8 storylines.

Over the past seven seasons, "9-1-1" has proven itself to be one of the wildest, most unexpected network procedurals on the air. (You can see our list of the show's best episodes here.) It's not a shock that something from the mind of Ryan Murphy would delight in throwing audiences for a loop, considering his past shows like "Glee" and "Nip/Tuck." But the basic idea of "9-1-1," which follows a group of first responders in Los Angeles as they navigate troubled personal lives and also save the lives of countless Angelenos in sticky situations, allows for the unexpected. But sometimes the unexpected means that cast members depart in surprising fashion. Though the show's most recent season ended with a truly jaw-dropping departure, "9-1-1" has always been comfortable saying goodbye to its cast when the moment is right.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. return to reprise their roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson, respectively, this July in the long-awaited legacy sequel, I Know What You Did Last Summer. The upcoming horror film marks the first time their characters have appeared on-screen since 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. I Know What You Did Last Summer's rating continues the franchise's 28-year trend, but with some new additional disclaimers. Co-written and directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer introduces a new group of friends who are targeted by another hook-handed killer one year after they cover up a car accident in which they believe to have killed someone.
The sequel is set 27 years after the Tower Bay murders, and realizing their stalker is imitating a serial killer, they seek help from survivors of the Southport massacre of 1997 – Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.). It sounds like things are going to get a bit messy when this Fisherman lets loose, as the Motion Picture Association has confirmed that they’ve given the film an R rating for bloody

Freddie Prinze Jr. & Ali Larter Share Parenting Survival Skills in DoorDash’s ‘Summer Scaries’ Short
After braving countless horrors in the likes of I Know What You Did Last Summer and Final Destination, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Ali Larter are sharing their survival skills for the ultimate scare: parenting.
To promote DoorDash‘s Summer of DashPass, the ’90s icons star in Summer Scaries, a three-minute short directed by Jody Hill.
“In the summer, days home with the kids can feel more chaotic than any movie set I’ve ever been on,” commented Prinze Jr. “You’re constantly running out of something, and the chorus of ‘I’m bored’ can be its own kind of horror movie. The Summer Scaries campaign is a fun way to laugh at the madness. In reality, having something like DashPass to get everything from pool toys to groceries dropped at our door is a game-changer. And with the Summer of DashPass deals, at least my wallet doesn’t have to...

While Boy Meets Worldmay be a beloved '90s sitcom, several members of the show's cast agree that one particular season 6 episode was beneath the show's usual high quality. Part of ABC's Tgif lineup, Boy Meets World was embraced by a young audience, and often featured cameos from A-list celebrities of the moment. Season 6, episode 15, "Road Trip," sees Cory accompany Shawn on a getaway after Shawn lost his father. A major storyline in the episode is their arrival at a diner, where they meet four waitresses played by the members of '90s girl group, Nobody's Angel.
On their rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World, Boy Meets World actors Will Friedle, Danielle Fishel, and Rider Strong (Shawn Hunter) discuss their thoughts on the episode (via EW). This upcoming month will see the release of many highly anticipated films, so we thought of compiling a list of all the must-watch films that are coming straight to Theaters near you.

If you are thinking that Jurassic Park film franchise should be done already and stop ruining the perfect original film, then I agree with you but when every film makes over a billion dollars then the certainty of a sequel is absolute, and that’s what you are getting this upcoming month, but this time with Scarlett Johansson.

The global debut of M3GAN 2.0stumbles compared to the original sci-fi horror movie. The sequel, released on June 27, focuses on relaunching and upgrading M3GAN to combat a dangerous military android, known as Amelia. The cast includes Allison Williams, Violet McGraw, Brian Jordan Alvarez, Jemaine Clement, Ivanna Sakhno, Aristotle Athari, and Amie Donald and Jenna Davis, who portray M3GAN. While the original film became a surprise hit in 2023, early box office numbers signal that M3GAN 2.0 may have trouble reaching similar success.
According to Variety, M3GAN 2.0 was set to earn $10.2 million domestically in its opening weekend, failing to match the $30.4 million of M3GAN. Globally, the sequel isbringing in a total of $17 million, which is significantly lower than the $45 million M3GAN generated two years ago.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has had many iconic roles, but playing Julie James from 1997's I Know What You Did Last Summer turned her into the ultimate final girl. After surviving two films in the slasher franchise, she will make her return in the upcoming legacy sequel.
Hewitt won't be the only original star to return for the I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel. Freddie Prinze Jr. will also reprise his role as Ray Bronson, as the two were the only survivors of the first film, and later reprized their roles in the 1998 sequel. The new I Know What You Did Last Summer will premiere in July, and, ahead of its release, Hewitt shared a funny video on Instagram, hyping the release.

With the legacy sequel “I Know What You Did Last Summer” less than a month away from release, franchise stalwart Jennifer Love Hewitt sat down with Extra to discuss her return to the series — a return that she says she never expected.
“When I heard it was happening, I think my honest reaction was, ‘Oh my gosh. That’s great for them.’ I never pictured them even asking me to do it,” Hewitt said. For the “9-1-1” star, her reprisal of Julie James serves as a bridge between the generation that embraced the first movie and younger audiences.

Jennifer Love Hewitt, the '90s icon known for her roles in the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies, will reprise her most important character in the upcoming sequel to the horror franchise. Hewitt has been mostly absent from the film industry, though she has appeared in TV shows like 9-1-1. However, her role as Julie James still remains her most important one to date, and Hewitt has addressed her reprisal as one of the most iconic final girls of the '90s.

Netflix is saying goodbye to a ’90s slasher staple, and horror fans have until June 30, 2025, to catch it. I Know What You Did Last Summer, the 1997 thriller starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, is slipping off the platform at the end of the month, per Unilad.
While newer horrors like Barbarian and Trap, another eerie tale from M. Night Shyamalan recently landed on the platform, something about that older screamfest energy still pulls people in. And this one is a perfect fit if you’re looking to relive that summer sleepover vibe, filled with suspense, mystery, and a killer on the loose.

Mark Feuerstein is a rabbi who's coming after anti-Semitism with guns blazing in the new trailer for Guns & Moses. Neal McDonough, Christopher Lloyd, and Dermot Mulroney also star in this neo-Western thriller. The film will be released exclusively in theaters on July 18.
As the trailer opens, Mo Zaltzman is the rabbi of a synagogue in a remote desert community that's about to be revitalized by a new solar power project spearheaded by businessman Alan Rosner with the full support of Mayor Donovan Kirk. However, the town's happiness is shattered by a violent attack on the temple, which is seemingly perpetrated by a local neo-Nazi, Clay Gibbons. Gibbons and his father Owen, maintain Clay's innocence, while, with the encouragement of his wife, Mo starts carrying a gun. But all is not as it seems, and as Rabbi Zaltzman starts digging into the case, it seems that there's much more at play than a lone racist.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is channeling Julie from I Know What You Did Last Summer — only this time in real life for Investigation Discovery’s new A Killer Among Friends true crime series.
Love Hewitt executive produces and narrates the new ID series.
“Sure, you can trust your friends, but I wouldn’t,” she warns at one point in the trailer. The six-parter, to debut July 14, follows six groups of friends, and six historical cases of murder and treachery among them.

ExtraTV caught up with Hewitt on the set of the film, where she told them it felt it was “really so cool” that she was given the chance to come back for another I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel and that fans look forward to seeing her in the movie.

A billion-dollar horror franchise is returning to the people behind its creation. For almost as long as horror franchises have existed, they have been getting reboots and remakes, finding new ways to continue frightening audiences over the years. Remakes, especially slasher remakes, were particularly popular in the 2000s. Between 2003 and 2011, Platinum Dunes alone produced the remakes The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror, The Hitcher, Friday the 13th, and A Nightmare on Elm Street, while other companies mounted remakes such as Halloween, My Bloody Valentine, Black Xmas, The Stepfather, and Sorority Row within that same time frame.
While reboots have now become less prominent, the horror genre has continued to find ways to resurrect iconic franchises, largely in the form of legacy sequels that introduce new characters alongside original stars. This includes 2018's Halloween, which kickstarted a new trilogy featuring Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, 2022's Scream, which featured...
