Danny DeVito Teases ‘Taxi’ Reunion in New Season of ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’
Image
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s 17th season may feature Frank Reynolds as The Golden Bachelor, dog racing, a whole lot of fire and a parody of The Bear (oh my!), but one upcoming bit is particularly sentimental for star Danny DeVito: an homage to his breakout role in Taxi.

Ahead of the season premiere, DeVito hinted that some of New York City’s finest cabbies — or at least the actors who play them — may be making the drive down to Philadelphia this season, a reunion that DeVito described as “big for all of us.”

“We were blessed to have that in our show,” DeVito told the L.A. Times of the upcoming homecoming, the first since his former co-stars Tony Danza, Christopher Lloyd, Judd Hirsch, Carol Kane and Marilu Henner all watched him accept the Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theater back in March.

As DeVito remained...

Tony Danza Avoided Jail Time Thanks to ‘Who’s the Boss?’
Image
Tony Danza excelled at playing sitcom characters named “Tony.” In his breakthrough show Taxi, Danza starred as Tony Banta, a wanna-be prize fighter. The show ran for five seasons, collecting 18 Emmy Awards before finally pulling into the Sunshine Cab garage for good.

But you can’t keep a good Tony down. After Taxi ended in 1983, Danza quickly lined up a new Tony (Micelli), the lead character in the 1984 sitcom Who’s the Boss? But unlike Tony Banta, Tony Danza’s skillful fighting prowess almost stopped his new sitcom before it started.

That’s because in February of 1984, Danza and a pal were getting a little rowdy in a tony (cough) Manhattan restaurant. A security guard approached and asked the two men to pipe down. Danza, who has the words “Keep Punching” tattooed on his right shoulder, didn’t take kindly to the suggestion. Danza walloped the guard so hard that he suffered partial hearing loss.

Five Will-They-or-Won’t-They Sitcom Relationships That Became Exhausting
Image
The will-they-or-won’t-they relationship has been around long before sitcoms were even a thing, and though it can prove fruitful comedically, it also has its many pitfalls. If the characters don’t end up together, the audience isn’t satisfied (like The Wonder Years), but if they do end up together, the show loses a big avenue for comedy (like Frasier), and often a dramatic tension. As a result, many sitcoms try to drag out the will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic for as long as possible, which can end up being so tiresome that most viewers are ready for a won’t they.

Here are four shows that tried to keep their will-they-or-won’t-they relationships going way beyond their expiration date…

1 Ross and Rachel on ‘Friends’

Ross’ feelings for Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) are introduced in the very first episode of Friends, but they don’t get together until well into Season Two.

‘Big Mouth’ says goodbye: cast and creators talk sex ed, celebrity crushes, and what’s next
Image
It wouldn’t be a Big Mouth gathering if someone from the Netflix animated series didn’t offer up an embarrassing sexual factoid from their own adolescent history. And it was Ayo Edebiri who took the prize during a post-screening Q&a session at the Egyptian Theatre for the show’s eighth and final season, revealing a roster of surprisingly eclectic childhood celebrity crushes.

Edebiri, who began as a writer on the show in its fourth season before taking over the role of Missy — and later becoming a breakout star as a writer, producer, and Emmy-winning actress on The Bear — rattled off a string of TV favorites that had captured her young fancy.

There was Tony Danza (“I used to have a big crush on him [from] Who’s the Boss reruns”), Tony Shalhoub, and The Famous Jett Jackson star Lee Thompson Young (“age-appropriate”). “And I liked John Ritter,” she added,...

Two Major Sopranos Stars Are Reuniting For New Hallmark Movie
Image
The Sopranos cast continues to be one of the greatest ever assembled on television, with stars continually popping up in other projects. Widely regarded as one of the best TV shows of all time, the HBO series centers on Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), a North Jersey-based mobster struggling with panic attacks who hesitantly starts therapy with Dr. Melfi (Lorraine Bracco). Key figures in the story include his family and fellow mobsters, especially his wife, Carmela, two children Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) and A.J. (Robert Iler), and his ambitious cousin and protégé, Christopher Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli).

The Sopranos cast was a massive ensemble led by the late great James Gandolfini, who received six Emmy nominations and won three for his portrayal of Tony Soprano. His Mafia colleagues include the late Tony Sirico as the loyal yet volatile Paulie "Walnuts" Gualtieri, Steven Van Zandt as Tony's consigliere Silvio Dante, and Vincent Pastore as Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero.

'Sopranos' Stars Reunite for Hallmark Holiday Romance 'A Bills Love Story'
Image
Joe Pantoliano and Steve Schirripa might have Janice Soprano in common, but this holiday season the stars of the HBO hit series are reuniting for a different kind of love story set on the gridiron. That's right, Hallmark is back at it again this year with Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story, the second in their popular sports-centered romance series following last year's A Chiefs Love Story – and before you ask, no, they’re not falling for each other.

Pantoliano – who portrayed Ralph Cifaretto on The Sopranos – is replacing star Tony Danza (Who's the Boss?) after Danza had to pull out due to a scheduling conflict. He's set to play Uncle Tommy to Holland Roden's character of Morgan Quinn, and is said to be an "integral figure in the movie's central mystery plot" as Morgan and her love interest, Gabe DeLuca (Matthew Daddario), set out to find an anonymous...

Matthew McConaughey’s 37% Rotten Tomatoes Desert Adventure With a ‘Silo’ Star Mines Gold on Streaming Charts
Image
Matthew McConaughey’s first movie in over five years recently debuted at SXSW to a stunning score of 97% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but one of his older films has been stealing the spotlight lately. McConaughey stars alongside Silo Season 2 veteran Steve Zahn in Sahara, the 2005 desert adventure following a master explorer who hunts for a lost Civil War battleship in the deserts of West Africa. Sahara has been streaming on Paramount+ for a while now, but the film recently surged into the streamer’s top 10, sitting at #9 at the time of writing. In addition to McConaughey and Zahn, Sahara also stars Penélope Cruz, and it earned a low score of 37% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, as well as a 53% rating from audiences on the Popcornmeter.

Sahara came at an interesting time in Matthew McConaughey’s career. He was still nearly 10 years removed from earning his first Academy Award nomination,...

Starz’s Power franchise finally revealed the identity of Branford ‘Breeze’ Frady. The character’s been talked about since the franchise first launched back in 2014, but it wasn’t until Power Book III: Raising Kanan season four’s finale that Breeze appeared on screen, played by Shameik Moore (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse).

Shameik Moore will continue playing Breeze as a new series regular in the upcoming fifth and final season. Per Starz: “Known as a drug kingpin from Jamaica, Queens, Breeze employed a young Kanan Stark, as well as James St. Patrick and Tommy Egan, with James and Tommy as his corner boys.”

The finale, which aired on May 15, 2025, showed Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods) introducing Kanan (MeKai Curtis) to Breeze. The introduction is a “lasting tie” between the original series and the prequel.

‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Season 4 Finale Shocker: Leading Actor’s Possible Exit
Image
Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4 finale “Gimme The Weight.”

So many people were killed in the Season 4 finale of Starz’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan, leaving many questions about the future of many of the show’s biggest characters.

Across four seasons on the show, Patina Miller brought to life the tough-as-nails queenpin of the Southside, Raquel “Raq” Thomas, a role that originated in the first episode of Season 1. While the screen fades to black in the very last moments of the episode, Raq’s only son, Kanan (MeKai Curtis), killed her after becoming convinced she was behind the murders of people whom he treasures most, like his best friend and surrogate brother Famous (Antonio Ortiz) and his girlfriend Krystal (Aliyah Turner).

Throughout her life, Raq was a bad and bold businesswoman who took what she wanted and...

Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 5 to Wrap Up the Series

Starz has added Shameik Moore to the cast of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, introducing him in tonight’s season four finale as the highly anticipated “Branford ‘Breeze’ Frady.” Moore will join the cast as a series regular in the prequel series’ upcoming fifth season, which has also been confirmed as the final season.

“It was always my intention that ‘Raising Kanan’ would run for five seasons, and thanks to my friends and partners at Starz and Lionsgate, as well as the incredible cast, crew and writing staff, I’ve been able to tell the entirety of the story I set out to tell way back in 2019,” said said Power Book III: Raising Kanan executive producer, writer and showrunner Sascha Penn.

Penn added: “Having said that, with the table we’ve set in this season finale and the inevitable introduction of Breeze, there is still an exceptionally intense and action-packed...

‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Showrunner, Patina Miller Discuss Raq’s Fate After Shocking Finale
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the season four finale of Power Book III: Raising Kanan.]

It’s been an intense ride for Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Starz’s other spinoff series from its massive network redefining Power franchise launched in 2021. Unlike Power Book II: Ghost which was a continuation in the aftermath of Ghost’s death and the departure of Omari Hardwick, prequel Raising Kanan was charged with exploring a younger Kanan, the character Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson played in the flagship of the Power franchise that he and co-creator Courtney Kemp launched in 2014.

In the series spearheaded by showrunner Sascha Penn is a backstory that sought to explain how Kanan became the monster fans saw in the original. That meant bringing in Mekai Curtis as 15-year-old Kanan to play opposite Tony winner Patina Miller as his ambitious, drug-dealing mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas, who led the family drug business with her older brother, Marvin (London Miller) and youngest brother...

“The ‘Power’ Universe fans have been patiently anticipating this moment and I’m honored to step into the iconic role of Breeze,” said Moore. “I jumped into a story that is already alive with such strong characters, but it was a fun challenge to find Breeze’s unique identity, and I can’t wait for fans to see how Breeze will shift dynamics in the story.

Sitcom Cast Departures That Didn’t Hurt the Show One Bit
Image
When Steve Carell left The Office, the show never recovered. And when Chelsea Peretti left Brooklyn 99, a critical part of its cast’s dynamic was lost, which cost the show some of its edge. Usually, when a sitcom loses a character, no matter the reason, the show suffers. Sometimes, however, a departure is more akin to when a butcher trims the fat; the show is tightened up and, because time is no longer wasted on them, it’s an overall improved result, if anyone even notices at all.

Here are five such times where a character was removed from a sitcom, arguably for the better…

1 Mark Brendanawicz on ‘Parks and Recreation’

While actor Paul Schneider didn’t do anything wrong as the character Mark Brendanawicz on Parks and Recreation, he was meant to be a love interest for Leslie Knope, yet there was absolutely no chemistry between them. And...

Tony Danza Channels His Inner Gangster in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Sneak Peek [Exclusive]
Image
Lines are being drawn in the sand today in a Collider-exclusive sneak peek of the upcoming installment of Power Book III: Raising Kanan. This week will mark the fourth season’s seventh episode, “Allow Me to Re-Introduce Myself,” which pushes the story further into what we can only presume will be a vicious, drama-filled, and brutal climax as Patina Miller’s Raquel Thomas continues her journey to become the biggest and most feared name in the drug dealing game. While MeKai Curtis, who plays the show’s titular lead, is absent from our exclusive sneak peek, audiences are invited to pull up a chair and sit in on a brainstorming session between Raquel, London Brown’s Marvin, and Tony Danza’s Stefano.

In a pinstriped button-up with his long white hair falling behind his shoulders, Stefano (Danza) gives his allies a breakdown of their competition. Things aren’t looking...

Was Tony Danza Almost Cast as Superman?
Image
Movie Legend: Tony Danza nearly replaced Christopher Reeve as Superman for Superman III.

One of the easiest Movie Legends to create is the classic "Actor X was almost cast as Character Y," since there is really so little to it that you need to get it into the popular consciousness. For instance, for the old legend about whether Oj Simpson was nearly cast as the Terminator, losing the gig only because no one bought him as a killer, a lot of that Is true, which is that James Cameron noted that, "This was when everybody loved him, and ironically that was part of the problem—he was this likable, goofy, kind of innocent guy. Plus, frankly I wasn’t interested in an African-American man chasing around a white girl with a knife. It just felt wrong." However, that's the reason why Cameron never even really Considered Simpson for the role,...

Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 14 Sees Miss Tascioni Square Off with A ’90s and 2000s TV Icon
Image
Honestly, this episode of Elsbeth should have been called “The Mama Bear Mittens Are Coming Off.” There was no holding back on this culturally infused installment from everyone’s favorite Chicago attorney.

For one thing, how adorable was Henry, the tour guide? I don’t know who that actor is, but he is popping up more and more in different shows and movies.

However, the award for the most over-the-top acting on Elsbeth goes to Alyssa Milano. Was her character a little too much? Check the fingernails. But what the actor did with the role was epic.

(Michael Parmelee/CBS)

It will be a long time before viewers forget the name Pupetta. Although, that’s probably because the character’s name sounds like a side dish that comes with eggplant parm.

‘Raising Kanan’ Cast, Showrunner Sascha Penn Tease Exclusive Season 4 Details
Image
In this day and age of peak(ish) TV, it’s not unusual for a series to cap a season with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. But the third season of the Starz hit Power Book III: Raising Kanan dropped one and then some.

“I don’t think anyone was ready for how it ended,” star Patina Miller told The Hollywood Reporter during a special event in partnership with Starz in Park City, Utah, during the Sundance Film Festival in January. “It literally ended on two bangs.”

Two bangs followed by two bodies hitting the floor to close out a wild and action-packed third season. The fourth is locked and loaded and ready to roll out on March 7, and ahead of its debut Miller joined showrunner, executive producer and Power guru Sascha Penn, title star Mekai Curtis and the one and only Tony Danza for a compliment-filled panel discussion at Pendry Park City.

‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Returns: Where Did Season 3 Leave Off?
Image
The mother-son dynamic on Starz’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan is becoming a business arrangement, but the Thomases still have issues to work out and enemies to confront in Season 4, premiering on Friday, March 7, at 8/7c. Season 4 has Kanan (MeKai Curtis) “continuing to step out of the shadow of his formidable mother, drug queen pin Raquel Thomas (Patina Miller), as she questions if she can trust her son and business partner,” Starz explains. “The two continue to expand their drug empire, working with street legends ‘Snaps’ (Wendell Pierce) and ‘Pop’ (Erika Woods) and Italian mob boss Stefano Marchetti (Tony Danza), all while a resurrected ‘Unique’ (Joey Bada$$) is working in the shadows, looking for vengeance against those he believes wronged him.” How did we get here? Season 3 starts with Raq and Kanan’s relationship on the outs now that he knows that Detective Malcolm Howard (Omar Epps) is his father.

The Baby Who Inspired ‘Look Who’s Talking’ Has Co-Written a Sequel
Image
Hollywood loves to churn out ‘80s and ‘90s reboots, but they’re usually not written by the real-life inspirations behind the franchise. Like, if they ever bring Seinfeld back, it probably won’t be scripted by Kenny Kramer. And 2022’s Scream didn’t hire the Gainesville Ripper to be its screenwriter.

But now it seems as though we may be getting a belated fourquel to one of the biggest comedies of the ‘80s, co-written by the woman who’s infancy inspired the story. We are, of course, talking about Look Who’s Talking.

The original 1989 Look Who’s Talking starred Kirstie Alley as a single mother whose baby, Mikey, has an internal monologue that sounds just like Bruce Willis. The sequel, Look Who’s Talking Too, upped the ante by introducing a Roseanne Barr-voice kid, plus a hideous toilet monster voiced by Mel Brooks.

There was also a sitcom adaptation, Baby Talk,...

Rob Lowe kicks off ‘The Floor’ Super Bowl episode with Sexiest Man Alive taunt: Plus, confusion over Tony winners
Image
The third season of Fox’s game show The Floor kicked off immediately following Super Bowl Lix between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hosted by Rob Lowe, The Floor invites 100 contestants to compete against each other in a series of head-to-head duels, with a randomizer selecting players who then challenge someone standing next to them. Each person arrives at The Floor with a category in which they consider themselves to be an expert — things like Pantry Items, Tony Winners, and Marvel. The ultimate winner after 12 episodes will claim the $250,000 grand prize.

Lowe had fun with the crowd by pretending to be heartbroken over the fact that he’d “never” attended the Met Gala and “never” been named People‘s Sexiest Man Alive. But don’t feel too bad for him. After all, Lowe is an Emmy nominee for The West Wing (2001) and a six-time Golden Globe nominee...

But there's a rumor that's been circling fans for years concerning Superman III, which says that at one point, none other than comedian Tony Danza was set to replace Reeve in the red cape and tights.
