Tom Wilson

Trivia

Tom Wilson

Edit
  • Although he is probably best known for playing bully Biff Tannen in the Retour vers le futur (1985) trilogy, he is said to be a very nice man in real life who drew upon his own personal experiences of being bullied as a child to create the Biff persona.
  • As a recurring character on Ghost Whisperer (2005), he returned to the same set he acted on during the Retour vers le futur (1985) trilogy.
  • Was once roommates with Sam Kinison and Andrew Dice Clay.
  • He was awarded the 1991 Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor as Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen in Retour vers le futur 3 (1990).
  • He paints many portraits of classic children's toys. He was selected to join the California Featured Artists Series at Disneyland (2006).
  • Studied international business at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.
  • Attended and graduated from Radnor High School in Radnor, Pennsylvania (1977).
  • Attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA) in New York City.
  • Has three daughters (Anna May, Emily, and Grace) and a son (Thomas Francis III) with Caroline Wilson. He was married three days after Retour vers le futur (1985) premiered.
  • He made guest appearances on both Lois & Clark : Les nouvelles aventures de Superman (1993) and Superman (1996).
  • Has appeared in an episode of the comedy series Psych : Enquêteur malgré lui (2006) entitled "Let's Get Hairy" and in a movie called Six hommes pour sauver Harry (1986).
  • Often received fanmail meant for Tom Wilson, creator of the Ziggy comic strip.
  • Is often mistaken by fans for the late character actor David Graf who played Tackleberry in the Police Academy movies. Many fans think Wilson played Tackleberry, unaware that it was in fact Graf and Graf actually passed away in 2001.
  • Good friends with actor Marc McClure.
  • Says that the car scene in Retour vers le futur (1985) where he molests the Lea Thompson character, Lorraine, was the most difficult scene he ever shot. In between takes, he would whisper, "I'm so sorry, Lea", to which she would reply, "It's just acting, Tom.".
