Want to win an Emmy? Work with Ryan Murphy.
In 2023, Niecy Nash-Betts became the 13th performer from a Murphy production to win an Emmy Award. Her compassionate performance as Glenda Cleveland, the neighbor of notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (Evan Peters) in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, wowed voters and secured Nash-Betts her first Primetime Emmy; she also has a Daytime Emmy for producing Clean House.
This year, Chloë Sevigny, Javier Bardem, and Cooper Koch are all nominated for their roles on Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. Sevigny and Bardem portray Kitty Menendez and José Menendez, parents who were murdered by their sons, Erik (Koch) and Lyle (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), at their Beverly Hills home in 1989.
The Netflix limited series is produced and cowritten by Murphy, which begs the question: Can Sevigny, Bardem, or Koch continue Murphy's lucky streak at the Emmys and become his 14th winning actor?...

Reboots, remakes, and reimaginings have dominated the big and small screens lately, making some decry a lack of originality in Hollywood. However, at least one person with some reboot experience isn't bothered: actor Timothy Olyphant. The Deadwoodstar is currently starring in Alien: Earth, the long-running science fiction franchise's first foray into television.
In a new interview, Olyphant likens Hollywood's franchise fixation to stage revivals: "...everybody goes to Broadway to see the same couple plays every few years. It’s such a dumb, shallow argument to say Hollywood has no new ideas just because they’re rebooting things." Olyphant notes that the times he returned to past roles for new productions were thoroughly enjoyable: "Every experience I’ve had revisiting characters or working with the same people again, I’m batting a thousand in terms of it being really gratifying. I highly recommend it." Olyphant certainly has experience returning to his greatest hits.

Chloë Sevigny was mid-commute to the airport when her phone began blowing up with texts from her agent and manager — first “Omg,” then “Lfg!” (short for “Let’s f--king go”). The actress, caught off guard, had no idea that nominations for the 2025 Emmys were being announced that morning. “I was like, ‘Wait, what happened? Did I get a job?’” she recalls with a laugh. “They’re like, ‘No, you got an Emmy nomination.’ I was like, ‘What?’”
The honor — for her searing portrayal of Kitty Menendez in Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story — left Sevigny both “thrilled” and stunned. “My mother’s thrilled, and all of my friends and loved ones were calling,” she says. “I got on the plane, and the flight attendants were like, ‘Congratulations!’ I was like, ‘Wow, people really hear about this.’”
It’s not Sevigny’s first experience with major awards recognition.

HollyShorts Film Festival is betting big on international expansion, with plans to launch in Dubai this December as the Oscar-qualifying short film showcase looks to establish footholds beyond its Hollywood home base.
The fest, which has spent two decades building cachet in the competitive short film space, will stage its first Middle Eastern edition Dec. 12-14, giving regional filmmakers a direct pipeline to Academy Awards consideration. HollyShorts holds Oscar-qualifying status across four categories, making it a coveted platform for emerging talent.
Co-founder Theo Dumont has enlisted industry veteran Jeff Pryor as strategic advisor for the Dubai launch. Pryor brings serious global event chops from his tenure as executive VP of corporate communications at MGM Studios, where he orchestrated James Bond premieres worldwide. More recently, as president of Priority PR, he’s executed splashy campaigns across multiple territories, including a buzzy Cannes “speed boat brunch” that reintroduced Miramax to the market.

Marvel’s upcoming Punisher special is already making waves, and it hasn’t even been released yet. The Disney+ project will bring Jon Bernthal back as Frank Castle, marking the second Marvel Cinematic Universe project focused on the character after his Netflix series.
This time, the vigilante is stepping into a darker, more intense story that promises to give fans the version of Punisher they’ve been waiting for.
Bernthal first returned as Castle in Daredevil: Born Again, which began streaming in 2025. The new special was developed while that series was still being filmed. Bernthal teamed up with director Reinaldo Marcus Green and co-writer Green to bring the idea to life, with Marvel Studios officially announcing the project earlier this year. According to Marvel, the special is set to hit Disney+ sometime in 2026 as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
Recently, set leaks have given fans their first big clue about the villain.

Marvel fans finally have a big clue about who Frank Castle will be facing in the upcoming Punisher special presentation for Disney+, and it comes thanks to a juicy set leak.
The untitled Punisher special is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and written by Green alongside Jon Bernthal, who returns as the ruthless vigilante after his recent appearance in Daredevil: Born Again.
The project will be Marvel Studios’ third Special Presentation in the MCU, and it’s expected to deliver a darker, grittier story than most Marvel fans are used to. Filming kicked off in New York City this July under the working title Jolly Roger, and that’s where fans got their first major hint about the villain.
Recent set photos, shared online by onlookers, show signs for Gnucci’s Family Restaurant , a nod to the infamous Gnucci crime family from the comics. This has led many to believe that Ma Gnucci,...

More photos from Marvel Studios' The Punisher Special Presentation have found their way online, this time revealing the face of a character widely thought to be Ma Gnucci.
Despite the quality of these photos being pretty good, no one has been able to identify who is playing the villain. It looks a little like Big Love and American Psycho star Chloë Sevigny, but it's also possible this actor is a stand-in. Whatever the case may be, we see now that the McU's Ma Gnucci has all her limbs, despite being in a wheelchair.
As a reminder, the comic book version of Isabella Carmela Magdalena "Ma" Gnucci sets out to kill Frank after he murdered three of her sons. Using her connections in the NYPD to send the "Punisher Task Force" after the vigilante, she also dispatches the formidable Russian (played by WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash in 2004's The Punisher) to take him out.

Netflix‘s true crime anthology series Monster is coming for a fourth season with America’s most notorious murder cases, the Lizzie Borden murders. She was accused of murdering both her father and stepmother with an axe. In 1892, she was a seemingly 32-year-old Sunday school teacher in Fall River, Massachusetts. Lizzy was innocent until her father and stepmother were found murdered in their home.
She became the prime suspect in the killing, which was committed with a hatchet. Although Lizzie was ultimately acquitted, public suspicion lingered for the rest of her life.
Now, Ryan Murphy‘s Monster: Season 4 will re-examine this chilling case. The Emmy-nominated crime series will focus on the events that led to the murders and the controversial trial that captivated the whole nation.

The ten-episode series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (read our review Here) was such a huge success for the Netflix streaming service back in 2022 that Netflix ordered two more seasons of the show from its creators, Ian Brennan and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story was released less than a year ago, and has had quite an impact on the real lives of the title characters. Right before that season premiered last September, it was announced that Sons of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam had signed on to play murderer and graverobber Ed Gein in Monster season 3 (which is apparently called The Original Monster). Although that season doesn’t have a premiere date, it’s expected to be streaming by the end of the year. Now, Variety reports that Monster season 4, which is going to tell the story of Lizzie Borden, is already casting!

Ari Aster is expanding the fictional town of Eddington into Queens, NY. The auteur is partnering with the Museum of the Moving Image to host the new film series “Eddington City Limits,” highlighting the features that inspired his acclaimed Covid-set Western.
Aster will be in attendance for two out of the five films that will screen; the program ranges from Robert Altman’s iconic “Nashville” to Lars von Trier’s beloved “Dogville.” The series is co-programmed by Aster and MoMI Senior Curator of Film Michael Koresky, and will take place from August 15 to 31. “Eddington” opens in theaters today, July 18.
As the description for the film series states, “Eddington City Limits” will include “movies that both directly inspired or echo the escalating madness of ‘Eddington,’ depicting powder-keg communities ready to spill over into violence or enclosed worlds so given to conspiracy and obsession that there’s no longer any sense of coherent reality.

Based on the first trailer for After the Hunt, Luca Guadagnino looks to have made his most Oscar-friendly film since Call Me by Your Name. Written by Nora Garrett, the #MeToo thriller, starring Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloë Sevigny, concerns a sexual assault scandal at a university, and the trailer is unnervingly fixated on how more than just words are weaponized in such academic settings.
Per the logline, “After the Hunt is a gripping psychological drama about a college professor (Roberts) who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student (Edebiri) levels an accusation against one of her colleagues (Garfield), and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light.”
After the Hunt open in NY and LA on October 10, before expanding on October 17.

The characters in Luca Guadagnino’s forthcoming dramatic thriller, Into the Hunt, are obsessed with language —the words that are said, and even more so, the ones left unspoken. Early in the first trailer for the film, Andrew Garfield’s overzealous academic Hank pokes at Ayo Edebiri’s Maggie, an overachieving student enrolled in a course taught by Julia Roberts’ Professor Alma Olsson. “All your generation, you’re scared of saying the wrong thing,” he says. “When did offending someone become the preeminent cardinal sin?”

Julia Roberts’ college professor Alma Olsson is forced to face secrets from her own dark past, and possibly see them come to light, in the official trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s After The Hunt psychological thriller for Amazon MGM Studios.
In the preview, Roberts’ professor’s star student Maggie Price, played by Ayo Edebiri, confides in her that a colleague, Henrik Gibson (Andrew Garfield), had crossed the line.
“It’s the right thing to do, isn’t it? To tell someone and, you know, given your history,” Edebiri asks Roberts at one point in the trailer. “What does that mean, my history?” Roberts responds with what becomes a key point in the feature from Imagine Entertainment as her own past threatens to be revealed.
At first Gibson accuses Price of plagiarism. But at another point in the teaser, an increasingly desperate Gibson tells Olsson “you know the truth, and you won’t say it,...
