Liam Neeson’s commanding voice and powerful presence make him the perfect actor for serious and demanding roles. Despite his impressive career trajectory, Neeson could have added one more stellar entry to his filmography. Little did anyone know that Neeson was once the front-runner to play Abraham Lincoln in a Steven Spielberg-helmed biopic.
He poured years into preparing for the role, immersing himself in the life and legacy of the 16th president. But despite all his efforts, he voluntarily stepped away from the project before the cameras even rolled. Continue scrolling to find the reason behind the decision.
Why Did Liam Neeson Step Down From Lincoln Biopic?
The journey began years before Lincoln hit theaters in 2012. Spielberg, who previously worked with Neeson on Schindler’s List, approached the actor with the idea of playing the titular role.

The Handmaid’s Tale is ending. But to borrow a quote from Margaret Atwood, the end is not the end. And the Hulu series wasn’t the beginning of The Handmaid’s Tale, either.
Back in 1985, Atwood published her best-selling novel of the same name, a near-future dystopian tale about a totalitarian regime, the Republic of Gilead, overthrowing the U.S. government and stripping women of their rights amid a global fertility crisis. The story was told from the point of view of a woman who is renamed Offred after she’s captured, separated from her daughter and forced to be a “handmaid” in Gilead (fertile surrogates for the elite ruling class).
Over the years, Offred’s harrowing and heroic story burrowed itself into the imaginations of readers. Among them was Bruce Miller, who was tapped to adapt the book into the terrifyingly timely Emmy-winning series — after a years-long development process that included lost TV rights,...

Alfred Hitchcock Suspicion Ending ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
Alfred Hitchcock has stood tall as one of cinema’s most revered creative forces for decades. The legendary director, who had mastered suspense like few ever could, crafted stories that sank into the audience’s bones and Suspicion was no exception.
However, not many know that Hitchcock has a bitter memory tangled within its legacy and it includes a last-minute change he despised and a lead actor he ultimately wished he had never chosen.
The Cary Grant Conundrum
The year was 1941 when Hitchcock first joined forces with Cary Grant, a collaboration that would later bloom into one of Hollywood’s most iconic partnerships. At the time, Grant was the darling of the silver screen, the epitome of charm and effortless wit, who dazzled audiences in films like Bringing Up Baby and The Philadelphia Story.

Michael Jackson Pepsi Accident ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Before the plastic surgeries, glitter gloves, and tabloid chaos—Michael Jackson was simply a young music prodigy with a voice that stopped people in their tracks. But one blazing mishap on a flashy commercial set left the King of Pop permanently changed—scalp scars and all.
Let’s rewind to 1984. Jackson had teamed up with Pepsi for a high-stakes ad campaign. At the time, he was at the peak of his stardom, fresh off hits like Thriller and Beat It and already ruling charts worldwide. Every brand wanted him. Pepsi landed him. But things got too explosive.
During a shoot in LA’s Shrine Auditorium, pyros misfired just as Jackson strutted across the stage. Sparks burst overhead, and in a flash, his hair was up in flames. It wasn’t a minor singe.

Alex Garland’s Gritty Iraq War Epic slays at box office (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Alex Garland shook things up last year when he catapulted indie darling A24 into blockbuster territory. Civil War, his chilling dystopian ride, thundered past the $100 million mark globally, with nearly $70 million of that coming from American audiences alone.
It was the most ambitious and expensive production A24 had ever gambled on, clocking in at a hefty $50 million budget. Garland wasn’t done though. This year, he linked up again with the studio, this time teaming up with Ray Mendoza, a real-deal Iraq War veteran, for a new war thriller that turned heads before it even left the gate.

Did Michael Jackson want to play Spider-Man? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
In the 1990s, Michael Jackson made a serious attempt to buy Marvel Comics. His goal wasn’t to grow a media empire—it was to play Spider-Man. At the time, Marvel was on the verge of collapse, filing for bankruptcy in 1996. Jackson saw an opportunity and reportedly discussed purchasing the company with his family.
His nephew, Taj Jackson, later confirmed in an interview with Popcorned Planet that the singer wanted to work with Stan Lee and “probably wanted to be Spider-Man.” Marvel, before its cinematic boom, was struggling across the board. The comic book publisher had lost its luster, its stock was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange, and its animated TV presence was fading. Toy Biz, a toy company producing Marvel-themed merchandise, stepped in and eventually merged with Marvel. The company’s future looked uncertain.

Is The Last Of Us Season 2 facing a casting backlash? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
The trolls have clocked in to take a dump once again, dragging down what should’ve been another celebration for prestige television. Despite HBO’s The Last of Us returning with a bang, with high ratings, glowing critic reviews, and a rock-solid 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, its audience score is slipping fast, like a runner with a busted ankle in clicker territory. Just hours ago it clung to 55%, and now it’s already sunk to 52%, Collider reports.
The Usual Suspects
There’s a stench in the air, and it reeks of targeted review-bombing. The kind that’s become a tired ritual anytime a show or film dares to cast a woman, especially one who doesn’t fit into some narrow, outdated mold.

Did Francis Ford Coppola reimagine GodfatherPart III’s m ending?(Photo Credit –Instagram/Prime Video)
The Godfather saga may have cemented its place in cinematic history, but the shadow cast by its final chapter continues to stir heated debates. The first two films were lauded as near-perfection unshakeable titans of storytelling and direction. And then came Part III, and with it, a chorus of groans from those who felt Michael Corleone’s story had ended not with a bang, but with a stumble.
Franics Ford Coppola’s Return to the Crime Family
Many years later, Francis Ford Coppola, still haunted by that sour note, decided he wasn’t finished. He returned to the film, reshaped its bones, and delivered The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. This reimagined cut peeled back the original curtain call, swapping it for something less tragic, and more meditative and just like that, the fanbase fractured again.

Which superhero movies failed to bring in a Billion dollars at the box office? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
In today’s cinematic climate, superhero films are practically synonymous with box office success. Franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe have produced billion-dollar behemoths with increasing regularity, turning caped crusaders and armored geniuses into global brands. For some characters, just showing up in a crossover is enough to secure a box office windfall. Yet, despite the genre’s dominance and years of audience loyalty, not all iconic heroes have managed to cross that elusive billion-dollar mark, not even the ones you’d expect.
You might assume that characters as legendary as Superman or as beloved as Thor have billion-dollar hits tucked under their utility belts. But in reality, they fall short of the milestone that even newer heroes or team-ups have managed to conquer. It’s not for lack of popularity,...

Is there a director who has grossed more than $10 Billion at Box Office? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)
Cinema, as an art form, has often been shaped by the vision of directors who craft universes, birth unforgettable characters, and influence generations of filmmakers. Some leave a mark through style, others through substance. And then there are those who become institutions unto themselves, effortlessly blending critical acclaim with commercial supremacy. In a landscape where franchises and studios often dominate headlines, only a handful of directors command enough power to consistently draw millions of viewers to the theatres on their name alone.
Among those, a select few have not only delivered genre-defining films but also amassed staggering box office numbers across decades. These aren’t one-hit wonders or lucky beneficiaries of a franchise’s success. Yet, amidst this elite league, only one director has achieved the unimaginable: crossing the $10 billion mark at the global box office.

Which Low-Budget Horror Movie Got Steven Spielberg Terrified?
The name of the horror film that scared Spielberg to death was Oren Peli’s directorial debut, ‘Paranormal Activity’. It was shot in a found-footage format and was initially made on a shoestring budget of just $15000.

Liam Neeson once revealed that a heartfelt ultimatum from his late wife, Natasha Richardson, was the only reason he never seriously sought for the James Bond role in GoldenEye (1995). Though, Neeson made it clear that he never received an official offer for the role. He did express interest when approached informally by the franchise’s producer, Barbara Broccoli, following his acclaimed performance in Schindler’s List.
In a candid conversation with Rolling Stone published at the time, the then-70-year-old actor explained that Broccoli had contacted him a few times to gauge his interest in the coveted role. Neeson admitted he had been open to the idea, having just gained significant recognition in Hollywood. However, while filming Nell in the Carolinas, his then-girlfriend and soon-to-be wife Richardson made her stance unmistakably clear. She told him flat-out, “If you play James Bond, we’re not getting married.

Dennis Quaid has cast doubt on the possibility of The Parent Trap ever getting a sequel. The 1998 film stars Quaid opposite the late Natasha Richardson, with Lindsay Lohan playing both of the children — Hallie Parker and Annie James — who were raised separately but are now trying to bring their parents back together. The way the film portrays family dynamics by separating identical twins at birth and never mentioning to one that they even have a twin, only to use them to reunite the parents, was viewed as controversial by many upon release. During a recent interview with Business Insider to talk about his new project, Happy Face, Quaid poured cold water on the possibility of him ever returning for a sequel to the 1998 film:
"There had been some talk, but it would be impossible to do now... No, and nobody else does. I don't think we'd have the heart for it.

Amazon has taken creative control of the James Bond franchise, wresting control from the Broccoli family, the family that has overseen the 007 movies for decades. There is some speculation as to what this means for the franchise, as many presume that Amazon, following the current filmmaking trends, will try to launch an expansive, multimedia cinematic universe. Some fear the onslaught of tiring over-commercialization that will no doubt be attached to Ian Fleming's noted spy, but others may be excited that a new James Bond movie is coming at all.
The last Bond film, "No Time to Die," was released in 2021, and it brought the five-film Daniel Craig cycle to a definitive end. This means the next film will have to recast 007 with a new actor, and speculating which actor could potentially play James Bond -- in any generation, really -- is a speculative sport played by cineastes everywhere.

Most filmgoers recognize big cities like Miami, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles in their favorite motion pictures. Sure enough, those locals provide the backdrop to several classic pictures from Michael Bay's "Bad Boys" to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," "King Kong" and Michael Mann's "Heat." However, another prominent locale exists in the film world, a place you've likely seen more often than not, even if it didn't immediately stand out. We're talking, of course, about the state of Maine.
Uniquely, many stories take place in the Pine Tree State. Its lush scenery and coastal views make for stunning cinematography, while the colder elements provide the necessary bleakness for heavier dramas. Here, family friendly fare like "Casper" and "Pete's Dragon" took flight, while more intense films such as the alligator thriller "Lake Placid" and the Stephen King horror tale "Pet Sematary" found unique ways to scare the bejesus out of audiences.

In 2002, the satirical comedyWaking Up in Reno hit theaters, bringing together an impressive cast, including Billy Bob Thornton, Patrick Swayze and Charlize Theron. The film’s premise - a road trip comedy centered on two couples dealing with adultery and the complications of long-term relationships – held potential. But despite its star power and seemingly promising plot, the film fell flat, becoming one of the most notable box-office failures of the year.
What could have been a comical study of marital tension and personal growth instead resulted in a muddled plot that never quite knew whether it was satire or slapstick. The film's awkward humor and drama left audiences disengaged, failing to deliver genuine laughs and instead opting for tired clichés and forced scenarios. What should have been a sharp comedy ended up as a wasted opportunity.

Daniel Day-Lewis Schindler’s List (Photo Credit – Instagram/Facebook)
Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis working together sounds like a dream. But before 2012 Lincoln, their paths nearly crossed on Schindler’s List. Only one problem—Day-Lewis wasn’t feeling it. Not because of the role. Not because of the story. But because he wanted Martin Scorsese to direct it, not Spielberg. Enter Liam Neeson, and the rest is Oscar-winning history.

Actor James D'Arcy, known as Agent Carter in the MCU and for his roles in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk and Oppenheimer, made his debut as a feature director with the 2020 dramedy, Made in Italy. Liam Neeson, on a break from a decade as an action hero, was cast as one of the leads alongside his real-life son Micheál Richardson in his first major role. The two play an estranged father and son — both artists, one roguish and aging, one young and determined — who travel to Italy to restore a villa left to them by their late wife/mother, who passed away in a car accident.

Vanessa Redgrave is the Oscar, Emmy and Tony award-winning actress who has starred in dozens of films over several decades, but how many of those titles are classics? Let’s take a look back at 15 of her greatest movies, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1937, Redgrave was almost destined to become a performer: her parents were Sir Michael Redgrave and Lady Redgrave (Rachel Kempson), her siblings were Lynn Redgrave and Corin Redgrave, her daughters are Joely Richardson and the late Natasha Richardson, and her son-in-law is Liam Neeson. So when it comes to the Redgraves, acting definitely runs in the family.
Redgrave earned her first Oscar nomination in 1966: Best Actress for “Morgan! A Suitable Case for Treatment.” She won 11 years later as Best Supporting Actress for “Julia” (1977) and competed four more times.
Unfortunately, her Oscar victory is best remembered for her controversial acceptance speech than for the performance itself:...

Ralph Fiennes has had an extremely varied career throughout the years. He made his debut on television in 1991, playing the role of Michael in the TV series Prime Suspect. A year later, he also played the key role of Heathcliff in the 1992 adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights. Since then, he has played in both dramatic and comedy roles, including parts in Schindler's List, Quiz Show, and the Wes Anderson movie The Grand Budapest Hotel. Fiennes has been nominated for two Oscars, the first for his supporting role in Schindler's List and the second for The English Patient.
This year, Fiennes seems likely to score an Oscar nomination again with his part in Conclave. Conclave is an Edward Berger-directed film about Cardinal Lawrence, who has to lead the Vatican's search for a new pope. The movie has been getting good reviews, and has spurred discussion of Fiennes...

Ralph Fiennes opened up about filming his 2002 rom-com Maid in Manhattan alongside Jennifer Lopez.
The 61-year-old actor played a politician named Chris Marshall in the movie. Chris met and fell in love with the 55-year-old actress’ character Marisa Ventura, who was a maid at the hotel he was staying in.
During a recent interview, Ralph revisited the film and recalled feeling “a little bit lost” while shooting it.

“It was rom-com writing. It was light,” he told People. “[But] I think I felt a little bit at sea sometimes.”
Why? Because he wasn’t familiar with the intricacies of American politics.
“[I wondered] ‘Now, who is this Republican senator?’ My antennae for things American — I think — got better since. But then I think I was kind sometimes a little bit lost,” he admitted.
The movie also allowed him to work with the late Natasha Richardson, who he described as a friend.

It can often take an entire career for A-list actors to gain major accolades for their work, yet others manage to win awards with their very first film. While the list of incredible actors who have yet to win an Oscar is a long one, its also astounding just how many amazing performers did some of their best work on their debut movie. These award wins often helped great actors gain widespread recognition and helped kickstart popular careers that spanned numerous genres and styles.
Some of the best actors ever won major awards for their feature film debuts, which helped give them the fame and notoriety required to become among the most sought-after performers in Hollywood. While some of these awards went to young actors just getting started in the industry, other performers brought a wealth of experience from theater and television to their acting debut. Apparently, Lindsay Lohans acting was so good that Michael Eisner was fooled into thinking she had a twin sister on the set of 1998s The Parent Trap. Lohan portrayed twins Hallie Parker and Annie James in the romantic comedy. And at the films premiere almost 30 years ago, the then CEO of Disney actually asked Lohan where her sister was when they bumped into one another. Lohan recalled surprisingly responding to Eisner when she was only 12 years old while appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Lohan said:
"I was so young, I dont even know how I thought to say this, but Ill never forget what I said. I said, Well you shouldve paid me double, because I dont have one."

Although Lindsay Lohan doesn’t have a twin, she had plenty of people convinced otherwise during her breakout role.
The actress recently recalled her snarky retort for then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner when he asked her “Where’s your twin?” after she starred in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap.
“I was so young, I don’t even know how I thought to say this, but I’ll never forget what I said,” she recalled on Watch What Happens Live. “I said, ‘Well, you should’ve paid me double, because I don’t have one.'”
Directed by Nancy Meyers, The Parent Trap stars Lohan as twins Hallie and Annie, who discover they were separated at birth when they end up at the same summer camp. At the end of the summer, they agree to switch places in attempt to get their mother (Natasha Richardson) and father (Dennis Quaid) back together.

When chefs get the chance to compete on Top Chef, they know they will have an intense experience. After all, past chefs have had their love lives ruined and been accused of stealing food. Sadly, those are only two examples of how things can go wrong, since even Padma Lakshmi revealed what she hated about hosting the show.
Given how hard competing on Top Chef can be, it would be great if the reality show's many memorable chefs didn't have to deal with bad judges. Despite that, Tom Colicchio once revealed that the show had a terrible guest judge and why he thought they were so bad in the role.

Dennis Quaid recently took the theatre by a storm with his autobiographical film, Reagan. The actor is one of the most celebrated Hollywood celebrities who established his credibility via a plethora of movies.
Quaid once attributed The Parent Trap as giving his career a second chance or a turnover. The hilarious family movie has since then been regarded as a classic, one which launched Lindsay Lohan too. However, despite its popularity the senior actor revealed he wasn’t interested in a sequel. The reason however is not with the movie itself rather it’s because one absent cast member.

Emma Corrin, hot from playing villainous Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine, will join Cate Blanchett in the eagerly awaited new adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull at London’s Barbican Theatre in 2025.
Another addition to an already sizzling company is Kodi Smit-McPhee, who shot to fame in Jane Campion’s The Power of the Dog. He also appears with an incandescent Angelina Jolie in Netflix’s awards-season hopeful Maria.
It’s a family reunion, of sorts, for Blanchett and McPhee. They play mother and son in Alfonso Cuarón’s brilliant seven-part Apple TV+ drama Disclaimer, which premieres on the streamer October 11. The two Australian-born actors also play related characters in The Seagull: Blanchett takes on the part of theatrical grand dame Irina Arkadina and McPhee plays her son Konstantin.

With every successful, long-running sitcom, there's usually at least one person left behind in the early stages who could've had a massive career-defining role but lost it for one reason or another. "Always Sunny," for instance, almost had Jordan Reid playing Dee, but she ended up departing from the series due to some messy real-life relationship drama with Rob McElhenney. It's fascinating in part because of what it tells us about the version of the show we almost had, but also because it's hard not to feel bad for Reid, who missed out on a widely beloved (and very lucrative) part, one that easily surpasses every one she had before or after.
Even with regular casting situations, it's easy to sympathize with all the people who missed out on a life-changing role. What happened to the kid who was second-up to Daniel Radcliffe for "Harry Potter," or the kids who...

As much as his costars Lindsay Lohan and Lisa Ann Walter have voiced enthusiasm for a sequel to 1998’s “The Parent Trap,” Dennis Quaid isn’t sure it’s something he’d want to do following the death of Natasha Richardson. When asked if he would work with Lohan again, Quaid told “Entertainment Tonight,” “I would.”
“I’d love it,” Quaid continued, but added, “You know, I don’t know if we could do ‘Parent Trap 2.’ Because who wants to touch that? Natasha’s not here.”
Natasha Richardson, who starred in “The Parent Trap” as Lohan’s mother and Quaid’s ex-wife Elizabeth, and whom the twins played by Lohan look to reunite with their dad, died in 2009 following a ski accident.
Quaid’s comments came as part of a career retrospective with “Entertainment Tonight,” in which Quaid looked back at interviews he’d done with the entertainment program throughout his career,...

Dennis Quaid, who starred in the 1998 film in which he played one of two twins brought together to love each other, has expressed his excitement for a revival of The Parent Trap, the new generation’s answer to the 1961 Disney classic.
He was concerned, though, about how a makeover could and ought to be carried out without his late co-star, the 45-year-old English actress Natasha Richardson, who passed away in 2009 after a skiing accident.
Quaid’s answer to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at the premiere of his new film Reagan showed just how large her loss still loomed in his heart. “That would be fantastic,” Quaid said of a Parent Trap revival, “But Natasha—how do we do it without Natasha?”
