Exclusive: Free streamer Fawesome has struck a deal with Iris Indie Global for a slate of 14 independent films, including the Ed Westwick and Billy Blair thriller Tonic.

The pair has partnered to curate the films for Fawesome’s services in North America, the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Among them is Tonic, which stars Blair (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For) as Sebastian Poe, a struggling jazz pianist who is given 24 hours to kill a dangerous drug dealer (Westwick) by a crooked cop (Jaso Coviello), and spirals into a moral and emotional tailspin. Lori Petty is also in the cast.

Pic was awarded Best Thriller at the Los Angeles International Film Festival, played at several other fests and is set to screen in Cannes on May 19.

Kathryn Bigelow’s action movie Point Break has received a brand-new streaming update for next month. The 1991 cult classic was led by Keanu Reeves and the late Patrick Swayze as they portrayed the respective roles of FBI Agent Johnny Utah, and surfer Bodhi.

Beginning on Dec. 1, 20th Century Fox’s Point Break movie will officially be available to stream on Paramount+. The story centers around an FBI Agent who goes undercover to infiltrate a group of surfers, who are suspected to be involved in a recent string of bank robberies. Leading the surfers is the charismatic Bodhi, who likes living on the edge. However, while doing the mission, Johnny develops a complex friendship with Bodhi, leading him to get drawn into their lifestyle and philosophies. To make matters difficult, Johnny also unexpectedly falls in love with a female surfer, who’s close to the gang.

Related 'That's What Makes It...

Kleenex must be making a fortune off of NCIS: Origins. I don’t know how the writers do it, but every episode is more intense than the last. Pretty soon, viewers will be too dehydrated to watch the show.

Between the return to Gibbs’s trauma over losing his wife, watching Franks be the entire heart of the Nis, and a truly heartbreaking case on top of that, I’d say “One Flew Over” was a borderline overdose of emotion.

That said, NCIS: Origins managed a few quirky moments that certainly earned some laughs. For example, I agree with Lori Petty’s Dr. Lenora Friedman, who said that Lala and Randy would have cute kids.

The 2024 Blu-ray release of Tank Girl by Eureka will let you enjoy this feminist 1995 pop culture classic. The movie itself is in full HD. It looks and sounds great. The title screen looks good and is in keeping with the film. There is a single menu for the main feature, the audio and special features. It is well laid out and easily accommodates all of the elements within it. Also it integrates well with the artwork on the title screen, which was done by Greg Staples.

Beyond the movie there are the special features. The audio commentary with Lori Petty (Rebecca Buck/Tank Girl) and the director Rachel Talalay is engaging. Talalay talks a lot about the difficulties with the studio, from big things like them deleting scenes to them objecting to tracks sung by female vocalists.

NCIS: Origins premiered this week, and Leroy Jethro Gibbs was back in a very different form. Instead of Mark Harmon playing the iconic role, Austin Stowell plays the character as he first joins NCIS as a probe himself, and starts his career. However, Stowell isn’t the first actor to play a young Gibbs, as Sean Harmon played the character in flashbacks on the main series.

Now, Mark Harmon is explaining why Sean didn’t return to the role in NCIS: Origins.

Why Mark Harmon’s Son Isn’t Gibbs In NCIS: Origins

In the original NCIS series, Mark Harmon’s son, Sean played the character of Gibbs in flashbacks to when he was a young NCIS officer. However, with the new series solely focused on Gibbs’ start at NCIS, the show chose to go with Bridge of Spies actor, Austin Stowell.

The creators of NCIS: Origins explain Mark Harmon's involvement in the prequel series. The premiere of the CBS series is mere weeks away, focusing on a younger version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell) in the early 1990s. But the NCIS prequel spinoff, which is executive produced by Harmon, will be narrated by the actor and he'll also make an on-screen appearance.

In an interview with TVLine, ahead of the NCIS: Origins premiere on Monday, October 14, at 10 Pm Et on CBS, co-creator David J. North, who serves as showrunner with Gina Lucita Monreal, shared that Harmon is as hands-on as we want him to be. This fall, NCIS: Origins will launch on CBS, taking fans into the backstory of Leroy Jethro Gibbs and his history with the agency. Austin Stowell is taking over the role from Mark Harmon, and a new video provides the best look yet at the younger Gibbs.

The video was shared on the official Instagram account for NCIS. From the set of NCIS: Origins, the video reveals Stowell going through his transformation to more closely resemble the Gibbs character. This means getting a shave and a haircut before putting on Gibbs-style clothing, making Stowell look a lot like a younger version of Harmon. The video can be watched below.

NCIS: Origins is headed to CBS in October, and two more have been added to the cast. Viewers will see Lori Petty and Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) appear alongside Austin Stowell, Kyle Schmid, Mariel Molina, Tyla Abercrumbie, and Diany Rodriguez.

The series goes back to 1991 to show the younger days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Stowell), played in NCIS by narrator Mark Harmon. In the story, Gibbs starts his career as a newly minted special agent at the fledgling NCIS Camp Pendleton office, where he forges his place on a gritty, ragtag team led by Mike Franks (Schmid).

Two more actors are set to appear in the upcoming NCIS spin-off series, titled NCIS: Origins. Variety reports that Bobby Moynihan and Lori Petty will join Austin Stowell, Mariel Molino, and Kyle Schmid in this upcoming prequel set to release later this year. NCIS: Origins is said to be set before the events of the main NCIS show and will follow the story of a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

More cast members have been announced for the cast of NCIS: Origins. The prequel series to NCIS is set to debut on CBS this fall.

Per Deadline, Two new additions have just been named for the cast of the prequel series. They include Lori Petty (Tank Girl) as an assistant medical examiner and Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live) as a lead forensic analyst. Their castings had been confirmed at the Television Critics Association panel for NCIS: Origins on Saturday, which was attended by franchise star Mark Harmon. For the prequel, Harmon will voice the older Gibbs as the series narrator, and he's also serving as an executive producer.

Petty previously played the titular role in Tank Girl, the 1995 sci-fi film from director Rachel Talalay.

The team on NCIS: Origins is growing: Lori Petty and Bobby Moynihan are joining the NCIS prequel that debuts October 14 on CBS.

Petty will play an assistant medical examiner while Moynihan will take over as a lead forensic analyst. Their additions to the cast were announced Saturday at the show’s TCA panel that included former NCIS star Mark Harmon, who is an executive producer and narrator on the prequel. Showrunners are Gina Lucita Monreal and David J. North.

Also joining the producers on the dais was Harmon’s son Sean, who recurred on NCIS as a younger Jethro in seven episodes from 2008-2020, and was the one who first pitched the idea. He was asked to explain why it’s not him playing his dad’s character (the role went to Bridge of Spies‘ Austin Stowell).
