Exclusive: Brandon Flynn (The Parenting), Elizabeth Perkins (Another Simple Favor), T.R. Knight (Grey’s Anatomy) and Ryan Powers (She-Hulk) are set to star in Deluxe Ocean View, a psychological horror film from director Bradley Bredeweg, based on an original screenplay by Powers.
In the indie, set on the icy shores of Cape Cod, renowned exposé journalist Ethan Everett (Flynn) arrives at the empty luxury resort, Notre Joie, for a career-saving interview. But the off-season staff and guests — including the beguiling owner Vera (Perkins), unsettling manager Oliver (Knight), and charming drifter Johnny (Powers) — draw Ethan into a surreal maze of guilt, secrets, and waking nightmares that forces Ethan to confront horrors far greater than any story he’s ever uncovered. Inspired by classics like The Shining and Mulholland Drive, the film unravels a story of guilt, deception, and how far we’ll go to outrun the past.
Simona Paparelli Wolf is producing under Sorry, Mom Pictures, alongside Powers for R U Mad At Me Productions and Emmy nominee Jason B. Stamey, who also served as casting director.
“I am honored to join this talented team of actors and producers to bring a bold, unsettling vision to life with this character-driven psychological horror,” said Bredeweg in a statement to Deadline. “As an Lgbtqia+ storyteller, I’m drawn to narratives that challenge norms and explore the complexities of identity, judgment and redemption. Written by the prolific Ryan Powers, this film terrifies me in all the right ways because it dares to ask a question we too often avoid: What drives a person to destroy their life in a single moment?”
Known for roles in 13 Reasons Why, the Max horror-comedy The Parenting, Apple’s Manhunt, Hulu’s 2022 reboot of Hellraiser and more, Flynn is repped by Paradigm, Untitled and Schreck Rose Dapello.
A three-time Emmy nominee known for roles in Weeds, Sharp Objects and the like, Perkins has most recently been seen in Prime Video’s Another Simple Favor as well as series like Minx, The Afterparty, and The Morning Show. She is repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
Knight is an Emmy nominee known for his role of Dr. George O’Malley on Grey’s Anatomy who has also recently been seen on shows like The Flight Attendant and Genius. He is repped by Buchwald, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, and Paul Hastings.
Powers’ credits include She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, The Madalorian, The Nice Guys, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., to name just a few. He is repped by Atlanta Models and Talent.
A Television Academy Honoree and GLAAD Award winner, Bredeweg is best known for co-creating and showrunning The Fosters and its spinoff Good Trouble for Freeform and Hulu, as well as producing hit Broadway revivals and originals including Dear Evan Hansen, Moulin Rouge, Green Day’s American Idiot and the recent Scissorhandz on the West End. He is currently writing and directing a new Pat Benatar musical to premiere in New York City in 2026 and as a director, developed Life From the Other Side, a feature penned by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Paul Schrader. He is repped by Untitled, UTA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
The film’s producers are repped by Lastine Entertainment Law.

Over five years after Schitt’s Creek ended, Dan Levy’s upcoming comedy series Big Mistakes is set to bring together another all-star cast for the actor/director. WhileSchitt’s Creek eventually abandoned its original premise and this made the cult sitcom even better, Dan Levy’s show always had a great hook.
The cult series followed the Rose family, disgraced former multi-millionaires who relocated to the eponymous rural town after losing their fortune. There, they acclimated to a simpler life as Schitt’s Creek made Johnny Rose, his wife Moira, and their children David and Alexis more likable and relatable with each passing season.

While the end of Schitt’s Creek was a well-liked finale, the sitcom’s creator, Dan Levy, has been quiet in the five years since.

Since 1987, Sandra Bullockhas been a major player in Hollywood, starring in successful productions beginning with the 1993 sci-fi action pic Demolition Man, after debuting with a minor role in 1987's Hangmen. At 23, her supporting role in the former earned her early attention, after which she found her breakthrough in Speed and ultimately took on more lead roles. Even with her outstanding portfolio, Bullock has had a few failures in her acting career, one of which is the Betty Thomas-directed film, 28 Days, which was brought to life twenty-five years ago.
With 28 Days released in April 2000, this year marks its silver jubilee, which of course has to be celebrated in style. Hulu has just the right idea as the streamer has announced the comedy drama as part of its August 1 lineup. In addition to Bullock, the film starred Viggo Mortensen, Dominic West, Elizabeth Perkins, Azura Skye, Steve Buscemi, and Diane Ladd.

Tom Hanks was nominated for an Academy Award for his 1988 film, Big. He was exceptional in the film as Josh Baskin, a 13-year-old boy who is magically turned into an adult man. However, the film almost made a major mistake by not casting Hanks in the lead role in the film. Instead, the film initially preferred Harrison Ford in the role.
However, it is highly unlikely that Ford could’ve given the same performance that Hanks did in the film. The film was a huge hit at the time, making $151.7 million at the box office against a budget of $18 million. It was a critical favorite as well, also thanks to the Forrest Gump actor’s performance.

Fans of Paul Feig’s A Simple Favor love the film’s twisty narrative and the way it deftly blends thriller tropes with comedic overtones. The 2018 film left off with an ending that seemed to suggest there was more story to tell, and as it turns out, there is. The follow-up, Another Simple Favor, was announced way back in 2022, and fans have been eagerly anticipating it ever since. With the film finally available on Prime Video, subscribers have been watching the flick en masse, driving it all the way to the top of the charts. Not only is the film the most-watched feature on the platform, but it’s also the most-watched title overall, regardless of format.

A Simple Favor premiered to critical and commercial success in 2018, but the idea for a sequel didn't come right away. Another Simple Favor has just premiered on Prime Video, but the director revealed the original story.
The original film adapted Darcey Bell's novel of the same name, and it ended with Blake Lively's Emily Nelson going to prison for faking her disappearance and killing her twin. Another Simple Favor stepped up the twists and turns further, and nothing was off limits. However, in an interview with Cbr's Grae Drake, director Paul Feig revealed that the sequel could've been strikingly different.
During the conversation, Paul Feig opened up about why he chose A Simple Favor to break his non-sequel rule, and how he felt like the characters were worth exploring further. This time, Emily was out of jail, and she went to find Anna Kendrick's Stephanie to...

Twenty twenty-five is shaping up to be the year of the unexpected sequel. Ben Affleck has already dusted off his reading glasses for The Accountant 2, and the Four Horseman are about to take the stage again in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. But first, behold Another Simple Favor, a perfectly pleasant, if unnecessary, follow-up to 2018’s A Simple Favor. There has never been a better time to be a semi-forgotten film from the 2010s.
Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick), after solving the disappearance and re-appearance of her former Bff, Emily Neslon (Blake Lively), in the first film, went from small-time Momfluencer to true-crime star. In the sequel, Stephanie learns that Emily is about to head off to Capri to marry her dashing new mafioso fiancé, Dante (Michele Morrone), which is surprising since Emily ended the prior film in prison for a variety of charges ranging from insurance fraud to fratricide.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal drama has been no secret since news broke of the suit that Lively filed against her It Ends with Usco-star and director in late December 2024. While the Gossip Girl star has appeared publicly, she has not sat down for a television interview since the drama began. Per Entertainment Weekly, Lively recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and addressed her “intense year.”
“This year has been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life,” Lively said. She was appearing on the late-night talk show to promote her newest film, Another Simple Favor. While Lively did not directly address the legal drama with Baldoni she did talk about how important it is for women to speak out about their experiences.
Lively: “I Feel Fortunate”
“I see so many women around afraid to speak, especially now, afraid to share their experiences.

[Editor’s note: The following interview contains some spoilers for “Another Simple Favor.”]
No one has ever seen Paul Feig — not even on an airplane — in anything less than formalwear, whether a three-piece suit or a dandyish necktie or pinstripes, sometimes cutting a classy silhouette with a martini in hand. The filmmaker and head of Feigco Entertainment also has his own Artingstall’s London dry gin brand, so of course it made sense to meet up with the writer/director and his “Another Simple Favor” star Elizabeth Perkins for drinks at Columbus Circle’s Mandarin Oriental hotel in New York.
Feig’s sequel “Another Simple Favor,” now streaming on Prime Video, is the follow-up to his 2018 box-office hit about neighboring mothers on edge (Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick) whose suburban ennui drives them to murder and mayhem. The latest film flings us to Italy’s island of Capri, with Emily (Lively) out from behind bars for the alleged murder of...

Paul Feig’s 2016 remake of “Ghostbusters” wasn’t even remotely the disastrous insult to comedy that the misogynistic smear campaign of the time would have you believe—though it would be difficult to classify the film as “good” in any case—but the resulting shit-storm of publicity surrounding its release seemed to have left its mark on the one studio director who saw real comedic potential in Melissa McCarthy beyond cheap punchlines about her weight. This much was apparent in the immediate aftermath, when “A Simple Favor” rolled around as Feig’s answer to the internet chauvinists, switching gears and doubling down on the feminine sensibilities for a sweet and sour twist on the domestic mystery film.
A film that aimed for elegant and delightfully twisty melodrama, Feig’s 2018 adaptation of Darcey Bell’s novel read more like an entire season of daytime soap opera condensed into feature length: too...

Now, Feig and his leading ladies reunite, promising another cocktail of glamour, intrigue, and danger, this time served under the Italian sun. This week’s big streaming feature film release could be compared to the return of an unexpected Fall romance from several years ago, seven to be precise. This movie captured my heart, along with my critical sensibilities. when it seemed to appear seemingly out of nowhere, with little fanfare or hype. Yes, I was, and remain, a fan of the filmmaker and one of the lead actors, but this was a real step out of their “comfort zone” with an engaging murder mystery full of snark and satire, along with fabulous fashions. That movie, A Simple Favor, nabbed a spot on my top ten list of 2018. And now, almost everyone is back for a sequel, but is that magical spark still there? Will I have that same frothy fun and romance with Another Simple Favor? Or was the original “just one of those things, just one of those crazy flings…...

Plot: Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick), who’s reinvented herself as an amateur investigator (as well as being a mommy blogger), is convinced by her old foe, Emily (Blake Lively), to attend her extravagant destination wedding in Capri.
Review: A Simple Favor was a surprisingly effective potboiler, anchored by two ace performances from Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively. Plus, it had snappy direction from Paul Feig and a tight script that somehow managed to take some vast cliches and make them feel fresh. As such, the only thing surprising about a sequel being made is that Amazon’s opting to premiere this on streaming, despite Lively’s last movie making $300 million worldwide – controversy be damned.
While not as inspired as the original and more of a retread than expected, the gorgeous scenery (well-photographed by John Schwartzman) and an especially good turn by Lively make it worthwhile. Emily Nelson is surely the best role of her career,...

Emmy nominee Paul Feig has had no shortage of work over the past few years, between his John Cena and Awkwafina team-up Jackpot! at Prime Video, Netflix's starry The School for Good and Evil, and now Another Simple Favor, the sequel to his 2018 dark comedy thriller starring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick. However, one script from recent memory that ultimately went unmade is still on his mind — Dark Army. Announced back in 2019, the film would've pulled from Universal's roster of classic monsters and featured some of the Bridesmaids director's original creations in a tribute to older James Whale movies. Years of attempts to get the project off the ground didn't bear fruit for numerous reasons, though, and now he's speaking out about the film and what kept the ambitious project from marching forward.

Set to hit Prime Video on May 1, 2025, Another Simple Favor is Blake Lively's first movie to be released since last year's It Ends with Us, which sparked all kinds of drama behind the scenes between her and Justin Baldoni. While reports came out stating that Lively was worried that the bad publicity would put an end to her career, it seems she's recovered just fine based on the sequel's Rotten Tomatoes score, which is just two points away from matching that of the original.
Currently sitting at 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, Another Simple Favor is being called a sequel that "manages to defy your expectations" by Collider's Nate Richard, while Mae Abdulbaki from Screen Rant notes that returning director Paul Feig "has managed to make a fun, delightfully ridiculous film," though she admits that it doesn’t necessarily match the charm of the original. Ryan Scott from Slashfilm adds:...

The early reactions are in and, ahead of its May 1 arrival, Another Simple Favor is coming up short compared to its predecessor on Rotten Tomatoes — but not by much. According to the website, the Prime Video-destined follow-up currently holds an 82% critics’ approval rating, falling just two points behind the 84% held by 2018’s A Simple Favor. The margin is close for the sequel to catch up to and possibly pass the movie that came before it by the time it arrives on the streamer in just a few days. Its next gauntlet will be winning over audiences who were less impressed with the first film than critics, with the original holding a 73% audience approval rating.

The State of the Race
Can only one episode win a performer an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie? That’s one of the main questions for the category this year, and one could argue both sides. With only four episodes, “Adolescence” is running the Limited Series conversation much in the same way fellow British Netflix series “Baby Reindeer” did last year.

Mark Measures, owner and president of talent agency Kmr, was arraigned in the Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday after allegedly stealing money from the clients he represented.
Measures is alleged to have stolen $1.8 million from 160 actors based in New York and about $26,000 from six employees between June 2021 and March 2024. He was arraigned Tuesday as part of a 40-count indictment, which included one count of scheme to defraud in the first degree, three counts of grand larceny in the second degree, 28 counts of grand larceny in the third degree, five counts of grand larceny in the fourth degree and three counts of petit larceny.
Measures pleaded not guilty.
Measures represented clients including Elizabeth Perkins and Merrin Dungey on their voicework, and was a talent agent for clients including the late Wink Martindale and Meredith Monroe.
In court, prosecutors claimed that Measures “raided” the escrow account in which the agency kept their clients’ earnings.
