Aloha! The natural beauty of Hawaii has long inspired and captivated filmmakers longing to show off the soaring cliffs and clear blue waters, in addition to the rich Polynesian culture. Many romantic comedies and coming-of-age films have taken advantage of the stirring imagery to evoke paradise, spirit, and dreamy tenderness. But there's tragedy and drama to be found there too, given the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, as well as the many wartime epics that have been made showing Hawaii at its most tragic.
Given the geographic variety of the state, it's no surprise that a diverse range of stories have been told using the islands and its people, and here, we're taking a look at the 10 best films set in Hawaii.

CBS recently announced exciting news about Devon and Abby’s upcoming wedding on The Young and the Restless. And this isn’t anything that Victor Newman can control. Devon’s mother, Harmony/Yolanda, and half-sister, Ana, are headed back to Genoa City for the festivities. Since Ana hasn’t stepped foot in the town since she left five years ago, let’s refresh our memories of the character.
Devon’s Younger Sibling
While Jamia Simone Nash originally played Ana Hamilton, actress Loren Lott stepped into the role in 2018. Since leaving Y&R in 2019, Lott has guest-starred on the Ava Duvernay series Cherish the Day and the CW’s All-American Homecoming. Plus, she’s starred in TV movies like Praise This, A Wesley Christmas, and A Wesley Christmas Wedding.

Recasting a character in a TV show can have significant effects on the trajectory of the series. Creative differences or a lack of audience connection can prompt the need for a recast. Recasting can inject new life into a series and allow showrunners to align characters with their creative vision.
Casting is a crucial aspect in creating a TV show, as an actor's ability to bring a character to life can significantly impact the success of the series. Occasionally, creative differences or a lack of audience connection may prompt the need to recast a character after the show has begun. Introducing a new actor to portray a character audiences have already started to know can have intriguing effects on the show's trajectory, for better or worse. When a series first begins, the cast and crew are still finding their footing.

Monday, Dec. 14 Greenwich Acquires North American Rights to ‘Days of the Bagnold Summer’
Greenwich Entertainment has bought North American distribution rights to “Days of the Bagnold Summer,” the directorial debut of Simon Bird (star of “The Inbetweeners”), for a Feb. 19 release in theaters and on demand.
Bird’s comedy, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, contains a soundtrack by Belle & Sebastian and is based on the graphic novel by Joff Winterhart with a screenplay written by Lisa Owens. Starring Earl Cave, Monica Dolan and Rob Brydon, the film explores the wobbly relationship between a well-intentioned single librarian and her black-clad teenage son, who’d rather listen to Metallica than his mother.
“Days of the Bagnold Summer” was produced by Matthew James Wilkinson and co-produced by Isabelle Georgeaux with executive producers James Appleton, James Atherton, Reinhard Besser, Will Clarke, Walter Mair, Andy Mayson, Jan Pace, Mike Runagall and Pat Wintersgill.

This big, expensive and well-produced action-suspense Sci-fi epic mostly delivers on its promise to be Aliens at the bottom of the sea. At heart it’s a 1950s pulse-pounder with a bigger monster, a zillion times the budget and a script that does everything but make us care. We appreciate the likable characters but it’s too easy to predict who will ‘get it’ next. The realism factor is not bad at all, although the undersea explorer video training sessions should have given ‘how not to crack up under stress’ more emphasis. And can’t anybody properly mind those pesky nuclear bombs?

While it may not be Friday, there is still plenty to celebrate this Tuesday the 13th, as we prepare to head back to Camp Crystal Lake with Scream Factory’s impressive Friday the 13th Collection, which brings together all the films from the original franchise, as well as the remake and Freddy vs. Jason as well. Scream Factory also put together a Blu-ray release of one of the most seminal films from my childhood this week—Terror in the Aisles—and they even are giving Motel Hell the Steelbook treatment on Tuesday as well.

HBO Max has given a direct-to-series order to a “Pretty Little Liars” reboot from “Riverdale” creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the streaming service said Thursday.
Titled “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin,” the show will be set in a new town and follow a “new generation” of liars, but exist in the same universe as the Freeform series created by I. Marlene King and based on the novel series of the same name written by Sara Shepard. King is not involved in the reboot.
Here’s the official description for “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin”:
Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls — a brand-new set of Little Liars — find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own.

“Riverdale” creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is working on a reboot of Freeform’s “Pretty Little Liars,” TheWrap has learned.
Aguirre-Sacasa’s take on the teen drama, which was created by I. Marlene King and based on the novel series of the same name written by Sara Shepard, would follow a new story, focused on new characters. He is developing the “Pll” project for Warner Bros. TV — which recently absorbed “Pretty Little Liars’s” original studio, Warner Horizon — where he has an overall deal.
Showrunner of both The CW’s “Riverdale” and Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” Aguirre-Sacasa will executive produce the potential reboot series alongside Alloy Entertainment’s Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo.
No platform is attached to the reboot, which is still in the early stages of development and has not been taken out to the marketplace yet.
Warner Bros. TV declined to comment on the “Pretty Little Liars” project.

Deadline reports the actor will headline and executive produce a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger, the CBS action series from the 1990s that starred noted duster enthusiast Chuck Norris. Back in 2012 I reviewed a Syfy channel monster movie called Arachnoquake, which saw an earthquake in New Orleans unleash fire-breathing giant spiders. Flash forward to today and we have a Syfy channel monster movie called Lavalantula which… features giant fire-breathing spiders unleashed by an earthquake And erupting volcano in Los Angeles! Retreading old ground? Technically yes. But given that this is a movie by Mike Mendez, there’s guaranteed to be some air of originality about it.
As the cover art states, Lavalantula is something of a Police Academy reunion. Not only does the film star Steve Guttenberg, but also featuress Michael Winslow, Marion Ramsay and Leslie Easterbrook – who buys the farm in truly spectacular fashion,...

The cable channel already renewed it through season seven (which is believed to be the final season). However,if the ratings really tank, couldn't they cancel it instead? Stay tuned!

With Disney already developing a movie adaptation based on their theme park attraction Jungle Cruise, the studio is also moving forward with another theme park-based movie, Tower of Terror. Deadline reports that the studio is currently seeking screenwriters, who will write the script based on a treatment by John August. Both John August and producer Jim Whitaker took their idea to Disney, and the studio sparked to their take.
The attraction opened at DisneyWorld's Hollywood Studios in 1994, which is based on the anthology series The Twilight Zone. The attraction is set at the fictional Hollywood Tower Hotel, where visitors step inside an elevator, where they're told stories about several people who have disappeared in that very same elevator over the years. The movie adaptation will follow a group of five people, who enter an elevator in a posh hotel. They all disappear after the hotel is struck by lightning. The...

This Pretty Little Liars star is going through something that's not so pretty. E! News confirms that TV actress Nia Peeples has filed for divorce against her surfer husband Sam George in Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences. The pair, who married in August 2007, have been together for nearly eight years, and have no children together. Peeples has a son and daughter from previous relationships. The Pll star addressed the divorce rumors on Twitter earlier today after a fan asked if it were true, but didn't go into specifics. nullThe mention of the trailer refers to reports claiming that Peeples was looking to keep their $875,000 mobile home in Malibu, which overlooks...

Peeples, 53, submitted the paperwork in the Los Angeles County Courthouse on Aug. 11, just 20 days short of the couple's eighth wedding anniversary.
The papers obtained by People cite irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Peeples is seeking to keep the couple's home, a Malibu, California, mobile home with an ocean view that's valued at $875,000. Also listed among the couple's community assets is a Las Vegas condo worth $91,000.

Nia Peeples is ditching her husband and she wants to keep the trailer they rode in on. Nia filed for divorce from professional surfer Sam George, and in her docs she says the home on wheels is hers. Just a few days after Lavalantula debuted on Syfy this weekend, the cable network has given the green light for a sequel, entitled 2 Lava 2 Lantula. The title is a reference to Universal Pictures' 2003 sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious, but don't hold your breath for high-octane racing action in 2 Lava 2 Lantula. Syfy will release 2 Lava 2 Lantula as a 2016 summer movie, but no cast members or filmmakers have been confirmed quite yet.
Police Academy stars Steve Guttenberg, Leslie Easterbrook, Marion Ramsey and Michael Winslow reunited to star in Lavalantula, and the hope is to bring them all back. The story follows a "washed up 90s action hero actor" played by Steve Guttenberg, who joins forces with Leslie Easterbrook and Michael Winslow's characters to stop a monstrous swarm of bloodthirsty lava-breathing tarantulas who burn their victims alive. The supporting cast includes Nia Peeples, Danny Woodburn, Ralph Garman, Marion Ramsey, Jon Mack, D.J. Pierce and Patrick Renna.

Fame is alive again at Lifetime, thanks to So You Think You Can Dance producer Nigel Lythgoe.
Lythgoe is partnering with the cable network for an updated version of the 1980s dance-themed drama series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Development is still in the early stages, with writer Josh Safran currently attached to pen the pilot episode about dancers attending a major performing arts academy.
Safran is familiar with the musical drama format through his work as showrunner of short-lived NBC series Smash's second season.
No cast members are attached to Fame yet, and it's not clear when it will air on Lifetime.
A Fame revival has long been in development from MGM, having first been announced back in the summer of 2012.
The 1982 television version of Fame was based on the hit 1980 film of the same, and made stars of Debbie Allen, Nia Peeples and Jesse Borrego.

Giant lava breathing tarantulas – Lavalantulas – erupt out of ancient volcanos in the Santa Monica Mountains, raining death and destruction upon Los Angeles, in the just-announced Syfy Original Movie Lavalantula, premiering in Summer 2015. Who will save us from the terrifying and deadly spider invasion? How about Steve Guttenberg and his cast-mates from Police Academy?
With the City of Angels on the verge of incineration, only a washed up ‘90s action hero actor, played by Steve Guttenberg (Police Academy, Diner) – joined by Police Academy alumni Leslie Easterbrook (Police Academy) and Michael Winslow (Police Academy: The Series) — stand in the way of this monstrous swarm of bloodthirsty creatures who burn their victims alive.
Currently in production in Los Angeles, Lavalantula also co-stars Nia Peeples (The Young and the Restless) and Ralph Garman (Kroq/La DJ) and is directed by Mike Mendez, who won a Saturn Award for helming another giant-creature feature, Big Ass Spiders.

Original "Police Academy" stars Steve Guttenberg, Leslie Easterbrook and Michael Winslow are re-teaming for the Syfy original movie "Lavalantula".
The story follows a group of massive, lava-breathing tarantulas that descend upon Los Angeles from the Santa Monica Mountains.
As they rain death and destruction upon Los Angeles, a washed up 1990s action hero (Guttenberg) is the only thing standing in the way of this monstrous swarm of bloodthirsty creatures who burn their victims alive.
Nia Peeples and Ralph Garman also star in the film which is currently filming in Los Angeles ahead of a Summer 2015 broadcast. Check out the official art below:

Syfy’s next creature film film will give us many gifts. Let’s list each of them in turn:
The movie has giant fire-breathing tarantulas.
Its title is Lavalantula.
The lavalantulas attack Los Angeles, a city that’s always worth picking on.

The movie co-stars Leslie Easterbrook, who was also in the Police Academy films.
The movie co-stars Michael Winslow, who was also in the Police Academy films.

Is it just me, or has there always been something a little off-kilter about Mrs. Dilaurentis? In this episode of Pretty Little Liars we see a few different sides of her, and none of them are particularly flattering.
Emily (Shay Mitchell) and her mom have been living out of a motel since ‘A’ decided to send a strongly worded message via a car through their living room wall. Of course, her mother just thinks it was a reckless driver, but Emily knows the truth. Only ‘A’ could get away with slamming heavy machinery into a house without leaving a trace.
As if Emily’s stunt with the missing key to Wilden’s apartment wasn’t enough of a blow to her mother’s sanity. Pam (Nia Peeples) has had a rough run as of late with her household (literally) falling apart. The child-abuse concerns seem to have fallen by the wayside,...

Teen soap "Pretty Little Liars" has taken a particularly dark turn this season, especially for The Fields family.
Pam (Nia Peeples) faced allegations of child abuse after she grabbed her daughter Emily's (Shay Mitchell) arm during an argument in front of her high school. The police investigation is most likely the work of the elusive "A" and it might be the furthest the faceless blackmailer has gone thus far on the ABC Family series.
During an interview with HuffPost Live's Josh Zepps about her new beauty initiative More Than Skin Deep, Peeples said she's happy with the heavy subject matter because it gives her a challenge.
"I was thrilled to see something come my way that really made my character walk a difficult path," she said. "It's much more challenging for me. I prefer that."

We'll confess to not seeing the ending to "Pretty Little Liars" latest episode coming at all. But we definitely are not surprised in the least.
Ashley/Hanna/Mona
Hanna has the spectacularly bad idea that she's going to take the fall for her mom, claiming she actually killed Wilden in self-defense. And let's be real -- the only Liar who could remotely pull something like that off is Spencer.
After some excellent coaching from Mona -- the only one who has actually lived in a lie -- Hanna seems, well, still not ready. It seems like it's going to backfire miserably, so thankfully Caleb is there to rein Hanna in.
Then awesomely, it's Mona who walks sassily into the police station and confesses, providing the Liars with an enigmatic smile at the end. Mona rules all. Mona should be in every episode and the show should be retitled "Mona and Some Other Girls.

Has Wilden’s true killer finally been revealed? … I doubt it.
There’s a chance Hanna (Ashley Benson) might have gone a little too far helping her mom on the July 30 episode of Pretty Little Liars. Desperate to get her mom out of prison, she decided to tell the cops that she killed Detective WIlden (Bryce Johnson), and she turned to the one person she knew could help her perfect a lie: Mona (Janel Parrish)! Unfortunately, Hanna’s knight in shining hair didn’t approve of her new ally. Could this be the beginning of the end of her relationship with Caleb (Tyler Blackburn)?
Nope! They’re still fine. (Sorry to get you all worried there.) There was a pretty big twist, though, when Mona showed up to the police station and confessed to killing Wilden herself! What does she have up her sleeve?!

"Celebrity Wife Swap" has outdone itself this summer. When the series returns on Sunday, June 23, audiences will get a double swap: Bristol Palin and her sister, Willow -- the daughters of politician Sarah Palin -- will trade places with Joan and Melissa Rivers.
The results may be explosive.
For the episode, Melissa Rivers will head to Wasilla, Alaska to spend a week living with Willow Palin and Bristol's four-year-old son, Tripp. Bristol Palin, meanwhile, will head to Los Angeles for a week with Joan and Melissa's 12-year-old- son, Cooper. Two very different lifestyles will be on display for the show.
At the Palin household, it seems that Tripp is in charge. Melissa will have to deal not only with snow (not a big thing in La) but also with Tripp's energy and lack of discipline. Willow isn't likely to be much help with this as she is more often Tripp's co-conspirator.

At the Palin household, it seems that Tripp is in charge. Melissa will have to deal not only with snow (not a big thing in La) but also with Tripp's energy and lack of discipline. Willow isn't likely to be much help with this as she is more often Tripp's co-conspirator.
