Last year, we got word that Amazon MGM and Mattel's live-action Masters of the Universe reboot had added another major cast member, with Alison Brie set to take on the role of the villainous Evil-Lyn.
As her name suggests, Evil-Lyn is a wicked and powerful sorceress who serves as Skeletor's second-in-command. Lyn was played by Meg Foster in the previous live-action movie, and was voiced by Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey in Netflix's Masters of the Universe: Revelation animated series, which added some new dimensions to the character.
Brie has some experience playing a cartoonishly evil villain thanks to her Glow character's wrestling persona, Zoya "the Destroya."
While promoting her new horror movie, Together, during an interview with Collider, Brie was asked about the perception that this take on Motu would be more serious in tone than the classic '80s animated series, and responded with the following.

Masters of the Universe star Alison Brie clarifies a rumored detail about the upcoming live-action big-screen adaptation based on Mattel's franchise of the same name. Directed by Travis Knight and produced by Mattel Films and Amazon MGM, the new movie, which will come to theaters on June 5, 2026, serves as a reboot of the popular franchise.
Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You) stars as Prince Adam, aka He-Man. He's joined by Camila Mendes (Teela), Jared Leto (Skeletor), Idris Elba (Man-At-Arms), Alison Brie (Evil-Lyn), and many others. With filming wrapped in early June, the movie is currently in post-production.
Now, in an interview with Collider, Brie seemingly debunked speculation about the movie's departure from the campy tone of previous iterations. When asked whether the upcoming reboot has a more serious or campy tone, the actor tried to play coy at first, but she suggested that reports claiming the movie would be serious are untrue.

When it comes to the interpretation of a superhero character, some different examples to look at would be the Batman franchise. The Caped Crusader has gone through different versions in live-action — which range from the campy Adam West show to the Tim Burton gothic films, to the Joel Schumacher flamboyant camp, to the animated series’ film noir, to the Christopher Nolan serious action take, to Matt Reeves’ hyper noir. While some details have been revealed about the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie, fans anticipating the film are awaiting the approach that Travis Knight is taking for the material.
The story taking place on Earth (although done in the Dolph Lundgren version) could lend itself to either a humorous element or a more adventurous element, or even both. However, Deadline is reporting that Alison Brie, who co-stars in the movie with Nicholas Galitzine, responds to rumors that the film would take a serious tone.

Saturday Night Live has set a return date, announcing the season 51 premiere date. And with it comes speculation on who will host and reports about potential cast changes under Lorne Michaels.
SNL returns to NBC on October 4. It's slightly later than season 50's late September start date, but falls in line with the premiere dates for past seasons. With just over two months until showtime, Lorne Michaels has a few decisions to make regarding the cast.
According to Deadline, Michaels has yet to make any decisions about new cast members. The outlet reports that the first round of applications for new performers came prior to July 4. Sources also tell Deadline that Michaels is focused on hiring "character-driven performers" rather than stand-up comedians.

Masters of the Universe is returning to the big screen for the first time in almost four decades next year, but fans are still hunting for information about the movie. Some reports have the film taking the franchise in a more serious direction, but Alison Brie, who's starring in the film as the villainous Evil-Lyn, isn't so sure. She talked about the film's tone with Collider's Perri Nemiroff while promoting her new body horror thriller, Together. When asked whether the film would be more serious or more campy, Brie seemed to lean towards campiness:
"Who said it's leaning a little more serious?"
Upon hearing that various internet reports have the film pegged as a more serious take on the franchise, which has traditionally involved sorcery, advanced technology, and wisecracking green tigers, she played it coy, saying, "I don't think they know as much as they think they know. That’s all I'm gonna say.

Comic Con 2025 is officially in the books, and once again, the San Diego Convention Center proved to be the ultimate destination for fans. While this year’s event was a bit more low-key—largely due to Marvel skipping its annual panel following last year’s bombshell announcement that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the franchise as Doctor Doom—it was still a strong showing overall. Despite the absence of major headline-grabbing announcements, the convention delivered a packed schedule of engaging panels, exciting previews, and enough fan-favorite content to keep attendees buzzing.
Here are some of the biggest highlights:
Alien: Earth Delivers the Goods
FX treated attendees to a full screening of the first episode of their highly anticipated new series, Alien: Earth. While a studio embargo limits what we can reveal, we’ve shared a quick, spoiler-free reaction in the video above. Let’s just say this: FX wouldn...

During its time on our screens, Game of Thrones broke a long list of TV records. It won many awards, sweeping the Emmys nearly every year it was eligible. It even took home some rather unethical accolades, such as being the most pirated show on television from 2012 through 2016. Now, even the stars are breaking world records.
In the case of Icelandic strongman Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (who's probably the only man who can merit going by the nickname "Thor"), his record isn't even related to his time on the HBO series. However, wouldn't have landed the role of Gregor Clegane, a.k.a. The Mountain, had he not been one of the strongest people on the planet. The strongman and actor spent five seasons in Westeros, from seasons 4 through to 8, until he met his ultimate demise after falling into an inferno alongside his brother Sandor Clegane during the climactic Battle of King's Landing.

San Diego — Comic-Con 2025 showed that fan fervor is still running high at the annual five-day convention in San Diego, even when Marvel and DC aren’t taking up all the oxygen in the room. As major studios skipped this year’s outing, the con’s premiere venue was still lively and engaged crowds that cheered for breakout panels from 20th Century Studios’ “Predator: Badlands,” Amazon MGM’s “Project Hail Mary” and Disney’s “Tron: Ares” – proving that there is still genre fare outside of superhero movies to get the con’s most sought-after room hyped.
Indeed, as TheWrap previously reported, Comic-Con’s two biggest draws over the last two decades – Marvel and DC movies – opted to skip panels in the famed Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center this year. That didn’t seem to matter, as this reporter observed the 6,500-person room was frequently packed to capacity even...

Jared Leto appears to still be embracing his well-known method acting style, a practice that drew plenty of attention during his time on Suicide Squad. But this time around, and luckily for the Tron: Ares cast, Leto wasn't playing someone as menacing and disgusting as the Joker.
During the film’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, Leto’s co-star Jeff Bridges shared a humorous story about their time working together. In his usual laid-back drawl, Bridges remarked, “He’s one of those guys. Everyone has different methods and modes, man.”
The crowd laughed as Bridges continued with a light jab: “I didn’t want to offend him as a thespian, but I thought, ‘I wanted to have a certain intimacy with you. I know your name is Ares. Can I just call you Air?’ He said, ‘Yeah man! You can call me whatever you want!’ We had a great time.

With Marvel Mia from San Deigo Comic-Con, Disney pulled out all stops for its Tron: Ares panel. Dazzling light show. Eye-popping clips from the movie. A new Nine Inch Nails music video. A stacked lineup of Jeff Bridges, Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Gillian Anderson, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, and Cameron Monaghan, along with director Joachim Rønning, and creator-producer Steven Lisberger, who wrote and directed the original, with certified nerd Kevin Smith moderating.
As Smith pointed out from the jump, the original Tron’s influence far outweighed its meager box office in 1982, a year where the sci-fi film was overshadowed by the likes of E.T., Blade Runner, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Poltergeist, and The Road Warrior. “It was a visionary science-fiction motion picture that wasn’t appreciated in its time,” Smith said. Indeed, Tron’s pioneering use of computer graphics and concept of the Grid,...

Jeff Bridges and Jared Leto came to San Diego Comic-Con to promote the upcoming “Tron: Ares,” the third film in the sci-fi franchise, and as part of the presentation they treated the Hall H crowd to two clips featuring the iconic light cycles — plus a new music video from composer Trent Reznor’s Nine Inch Nails.
The footage shows Ares (Leto) and Athena (Jodie Turner-Smith) chasing Eve (Great Lee) in the film’s first light cycle chase that takes place in the real world. Eve manages to evade them and also manages to steal Athena’s light cycle in the process, much to her amazement.

No, Dr. Doom didn’t show up at this year’s Comic-Con. But Disney sure as hell brought the dazzle with a laser light show that one-upped what they pulled off at CinemaCon, complete with a Tron: Ares logo in full neon red and two Tron-like warriors marching to the front of the stage.
“Did you see that entrance?” asked moderator Kevin Smith, “That cost more than Clerks!“
At the panel were director Joachim Rønning with stars Jared Leto, Evan Peters, Arturo Castro, Gillian Anderson, Cameron Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, Greta Lee, and Jeff Bridges who reprises his role as Kevin Flynn, the programmer from the original 1982 movie who gets caught in his own videogame. Leto drew big cheers from the crowd, as did Bridges.
In the third Tron movie, a highly sophisticated program, Ares (played by Oscar winner Leto) is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission.

Earlier this week, Amazon MGM unveiled the official logo for the live-action Masters of the Universe movie - which also included a new version of the '80s animated series' theme - in advance of the studio's Sdcc presentation, and some photos from the Con's Motu display have now been shared online.
There's no sign of any characters from the movie, unfortunately, but we do have a first look at He-Man's (Nicholas Galitzine) Power Sword, aka the Sword of Grayskull, and Skeletor's (Jared Leto) signature ram's-head Havoc Staff.
The sword is an important part of Motu lore, and was given to Prince Adam by the Sorceress to use as a means of transforming into Eternia's muscle-bound protector. When Adam holds aloft his magic sword and says... you know the rest!

Every morning, I find myself waking up with an itch to challenge my brain, and the daily dose of puzzles from Actorle and its sister games has become the perfect remedy. There’s something oddly comforting and exciting about taking on the daily quizzes that test my pop culture memory and logical reasoning alike.
Like always, I jumped into the action with Actorle first, before moving on to Fill The Grid, the always-surprising Storyboard, and StarWords. And if you’re here for the answers, you’re in the right place. I’ve cracked them all and laid out the solutions for July 25, 2025, just below.
Actorle Solution for Today The solution for Actorle on July 25 is Steve Martin | Credit: Actorle/FandomWire
The first thing I look for in any Actorle puzzle is how long the mystery actor has been in the industry, and for July 25’s set, the actor has been in Hollywood for 44 years.

It seemed like everyone had forgotten about 2023's Haunted Mansion — until now. Justin Simien's picture, based on the classic Disneyland ride The Haunted Mansion, follows single mom Gabbie (Rosario Dawson), who hires a variety of experts to exorcise her new house after discovering that it is inhabited by ghosts.
While this movie sits at a dismal Rotten Tomatoes score of 38%, the ride's loose premise of a Louisiana mansion ridden with spirits was previously adapted into 2003's Haunted Mansion, led by Eddie Murphy, which has a score of 18%. However, such "bad" movies, especially with such star-studded casts, often come back around on streaming.
According to FlixPatrol, 2023's Haunted Mansion is currently at #9 on Disney+ in the United States, while it was at #7 yesterday. Despite the movie's negative reception, subscribers may be drawn in by Haunted Mansion's impressive cast, which also includes Lakeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Jared Leto, Tiffany Haddish,...

We’ll allow you a moment to take a deep sigh at the last part of that sentence. But after years of delays and false starts, a Masters of the Universe reboot film is finally taking shape, and if the new teaser is anything to go by, the filmmakers are aiming for something big. The live-action Masters of the Universe movie is finally moving forward, and fans got a first look at one of its most famous elements, He-Man’s Power Sword. The Power Sword has an interesting history. In the earliest stories, it was actually broken into two halves. Skeletor wanted to put them together to get its power, while He-Man used different weapons like an axe and a shield. But everything changed when the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon came out.
That’s when the sword became the magical item that lets Prince Adam transform into He-Man.

We've had a couple of official shots of Nicholas Galitzine's He-Man from the new Masters of the Universe movie, and caught sight of him wearing some surprisingly normal clothes on the remake's set. Now, the logo has just been officially revealed (via Toonado.com).
Accompanied by an epic piece of music, the title reveal doesn't tell us much about what to expect, but this hopefully means we're getting a proper first look sooner rather than later.
Shooting recently wrapped on the movie that will play out on both Eternia and Earth. We're expecting this one to be very VFX-heavy, particularly when it comes to Skeletor, a character fans have high expectations for in this newest take on the property.
Whether Bumblebee director Travis Knight can do right by Eternia's greatest warrior remains to be seen. The cast will be led by Galitzine (The Idea of You) as He-Man and...

Usually, not having a Marvel Studios panel signals a less than exciting convention. There’s less rock-star energy and less hyped-up news (like last year’s Robert Downey Jr. reveal as Doctor Doom). But even with Marvel sitting out this year’s Comic-Con, the lineup is still surprisingly robust. (The below presentations all will appear in Hall H.)
South Park (July 24, 6:45 p.m.)
Creators Trey Stone and Matt Parker don’t mince words, and with the panel coming amid their $3 billion battle over the future of South Park, fans are hoping for some grousing about Skydance, the presumptive soon-to-be owner of Paramount they have blamed for holding up season 27.

When doing press for Bumblebee, director Travis Knight professed to being a huge fan of the original G1 Transformers cartoon from the 80s. His fandom would come through with that movie as the designs and characters felt more in-tune with the source material than Bay’s versions. Purists of the franchise cited his vision as more faithful, and if that’s any indication, Masters of the Universe could be given the same care by Knight as the original Filmation animated series came from that same era.

They may not be fabulous secret powers, but Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the new title treatment for their upcoming Masters of the Universe movie. The newly released video features the logo for the upcoming film, which, like its 1987 predecessor, will simply be called Masters of the Universe. The logo takes its design cues from the original logo for the franchise, which first graced toy packaging, TV screens, and comic books back in 1982.
The clip also features a music sting derived from the 1982 cartoon's theme song, albeit in a considerably more lush and orchestrated form. It also indicates a worldwide release, presenting the logo in a variety of different languages. The franchise has always been a hit around the globe; in fact, several of the final toys from the waning days of the original action figure line were only available in the Italian market. Acclaimed filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson returns with a wickedly subversive black comedy action film, ‘One Battle After Another,’ and a new trailer has finally arrived—promising a stylish, high-stakes thrill ride brimming with grit, absurdity, and nostalgia-drenched chaos.
Leonardo DiCaprio leads the all-star ensemble in this modern-day adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s cult classic Vineland. Set in the fragmented haze of 1984 Northern California, the film tackles the lingering fallout of the 1960s counterculture as it collides with the cold realities of Reagan-era America.
The trailer opens with sun-bleached flashbacks and VHS fuzz, before snapping into the present with DiCaprio’s jaded ex-revolutionary—grizzled, cynical, and in hiding—being dragged back into the fray. When his estranged daughter vanishes, abducted by a vengeful adversary long thought dead, he’s forced to rally his old comrades for one last, ludicrous mission.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe popularized the post-credits scene in the modern era. Since 2008's "Iron Man," fans had to wait until their seats until the very long credits end just to see if there's any tease to what might happen next. Sometimes, these can be very good, like Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) walking out of the shadows to discuss the Avengers Initiative in "Iron Man." In other cases, they seem pretty tacked on.
Marvel may have popularized the post-credit scene, but make no mistake, it's been around for decades. The very first film to utilize this technique was 1966's "The Silencers," which asserted that Matt Helm (Dean Martin) would return in "Murderer's Row." Since then, many movies have incorporated the bonus scene to sneak one more joke in there or propose a fun sequel idea.

It was nearly Morbin' Time for Ari Aster. The acclaimed horror director, best known for his collaborations with the powerhouse art film studio A24, has revealed that he was asked by Sony Pictures to direct the 2022 superhero film Morbius, but declined. This is likely good news for Aster, considering that the film went on to become one of the most critically panned features of that year.
Aster revealed the news on Semafor's Mixed Signals podcast after being asked to weigh in on a rumor he had been offered to direct a Marvel film. "I was asked to do — is it Mobius? Morbius? Morbius," Aster replied after a bit of hesitation, wondering if he should divulge the news. "Yeah, we could have added it to my list," the director added.

Morbius," Aster replied after a bit of hesitation, wondering if he should divulge the news. "Yeah, we could have added it to my list," the director added.

Ari Aster has long held the mantle for the most disturbing mind in Hollywood since his arrival, and even he could not accept the comical absurdity of Morbius. Meanwhile, the director’s dark and twisted genius makes films like Midsommar and Hereditary so utterly unbearable, gruesome, and traumatic to watch that it almost pushes the viewers to the edge of a nervous breakdown.
Now, imagine the same being applied to one of Marvel’s darkest IPs, and it immediately sounds like the studio would have a surefire success in its hands.

Sony's Morbius movie could have been good. At least, that's what the Marvel fandom is now saying on social media after learning that filmmaker Ari Aster was approached to direct the Sony's Spider-Man Universe movie.
During a recent interview with the Mixed Signals podcast, Aster was asked to confirm or deny a rumor about him having been asked to direct a Marvel movie. The filmmaker confirmed that the rumor was true, saying, "Yes, once." After being nudged to reveal the movie, Aster shared that it was not Marvel Studios who wanted him, but Sony Pictures. "Well, I don’t know. I feel like I shouldn’t say. Should I? I was asked to do… Is it Mobius? Morbius? Morbius," he revealed. Aster clearly turned down the offer, as the 2022 Marvel movie starring Jared Leto was ultimately helmed by Daniel Espinosa, who earned a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Director...

Ari Aster was approached to direct Morbius, the filmmaker reluctantly revealed in a recent interview Semafor.
Following the success of Hereditary and Midsommar, Aster met with Sony about turning the Marvel Comics character into a film — but it was decidedly not Morbin time, as Aster instead went on to make Beau Is Afraid.
Released in 2022, Morbius ended up being written by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (“Lost in Space”) and directed by Daniel Espinosa (Life) with Jared Leto in the titular role.
Aster’s new film, Eddington, is in theaters today from A24.
Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal star in the contemporary western alongside Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Amélie Hoeferle, Clifton Collins Jr., William Belleau, Austin Butler, and Emma Stone.
In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff and mayor sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico.

Once upon a time, not so long ago, Sony Pictures attempted to create a cinematic universe based on Spider-Man, without the web-slinger himself. It went as well as Marvel fans expected, with Morbiusquickly becoming one of the most infamous (and worst) superhero movies of all time. If it wasn't already clear that the studio has in over its head with the idea, they tried to hire one of the most unique filmmakers working today to helm the box office flop.
While on the Mixed Signals podcast, Eddington director Ari Aster revealed that Sony approached him years ago to helm Morbius, which starred Jared Leto. Aster kept things brief and didn't divulge any details, but it is safe to say that the conversations with Sony probably did not get very far. Despite featuring a Spider-Man character and some star talent, Morbius proved to be a disaster for the studio, one that...

Ari Aster as superhero director? Not in this lifetime. The auteur recently revealed during an appearance on the “Mixed Signals” podcast from Semafor Media (which you can see in the below video), that he was asked to direct 2022 Marvel/Sony film “Morbius” and declined.
“I was asked to do ‘Mobius.’ Or is it ‘Morbius’? Oh, God,” he said. “We could have added it to my list of [flops].” Aster has yet to direct a film he did not write, and it seems highly unlikely the auteur will ever dip into the superhero well.
When it was released in theaters in the spring of 2022, “Morbius” infamously flopped at the box office. The film received a slew of bad reviews, leading to director Daniel Espinosa defending the project to Insider while admitting that he had a “lot of self-hatred” about his own work. Espinosa also cited how “hard” it was to shoot the feature amid the pandemic delays.
