If you’ve ever wanted to watch Mr. Bean, a Monty Python legend, Seth Green, Whoopi Goldberg, and Smash Mouth all crash headfirst into a live-action cartoon – Rat Race should be right up your alley. And starting August 1, Jerry Zucker’s 2001 chaos-fueled ensemble comedy is making its way to Paramount+, where a new generation of streamers can marvel at the fact that this movie even exists. Loosely inspired by 1963’s It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Rat Race opens with eccentric billionaire Donald Sinclair, played with unhinged glee by John Cleese, inviting a group of unsuspecting tourists at a Las Vegas casino to compete in a secret race. The rules are simple: There’s $2 million in a locker 700 miles away in Silver City, New Mexico. Whoever gets there first, keeps it. And as if that weren’t absurd enough, Sinclair’s fellow billionaires are gambling on the outcome.

Having delivered an incredible retelling of Nosferatu, and set his sights on werewolves with his next project, it looks like Robert Eggers is delving into the world of ghosts for his next project – and will be bringing his frequent collaborator Willem Dafoe along for the ride. This will reportedly come in the form of a new retelling of the classic Charles Dickens novella, A Christmas Carol – one of the most adapted stories of all time.
New versions of A Christmas Carol have been made almost every decade, from TV adaptations, to CGI spectaculars, modern adaptations starring comedy icons to Muppet-laden musical classics. While some adaptations have been better than others, the story has always remained fairly static, with old curmudgeon Ebeneezer Scrooge being visited by several ghosts who attempt to get him to change his ways and be nice. If this comes as a spoiler, you really need to watch more movies.

The Lion King’s Original Title, Scrapped Scenes & Forgotten Songs Will Leave You Stunned ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Disney’s The Lion King wasn’t always the roaring success we remember. In fact, it was almost called King of the Jungle, per sources. The catch? Lions don’t live in the jungle. Once the creators realized this, the iconic title was changed, setting the stage for what’d become one of Disney’s most beloved animated classics.
Almost 25 years ago, The Lion King introduced us to the circle of life, hakuna matata, and the savanna’s most intense sibling rivalry. As Disney prepared for the live-action remake, it was the perfect time to look back on the original’s legacy and uncover its most surprising secrets.
Back in production, The Lion King was overshadowed by Pocahontas. Many top animators jumped to work on Pocahontas, expecting it to be the bigger hit.

According to a new poll, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be household names, but not everyone likes them.
Prince Harry is often in the news, frequently for his charities, such as Invictus, or due to his numerous court cases involving security concerns that keep him away from the United Kingdom.
As Monsters and Critics has reported, Prince Harry recently traveled to London for a case involving reduced security, and a disruption caused his security to intervene.
Meghan, who has changed her name from Markle to Sussex to simply Meghan, is frequently in the news, especially since the launch of her “With Love, Meghan” show on Netflix.
Prince Harry and Meghan are both household names, but that doesn’t always translate into high popularity.
A new poll from the experts at YouGov.com ranked British celebrities from least to best liked, and the results for Prince Harry and Meghan are surprising.

Jimmy Kimmel thinks there’s a connection between policing comedy and Donald Trump being reelected. According to the late night host, the same “liberals” who have been “viciously attacking comedians” and the freedom of speech in comedy are the ones to blame for Trump’s return to power.
Kimmel told Rolling Stone that there is a “manufactured” emphasis from the left on what comedy should or shouldn’t be about. “I think a lot of the outrage is completely manufactured, and it’s like, a lot of these people who are angry aren’t really angry,” Kimmel said. “I think these liberals who’ve done such a good job of viciously attacking comedians are a big part of the reason why Trump is the president right now.”
Kimmel added of cancel culture in comedy as a whole, “There’s no black and white when it comes to comedy. There is no line.

Although some viewers underestimate the power of children's films, these stories can deliver some of the most powerful and shocking twists audiences have ever seen.
There are plenty of incredible children's films to choose from, and quite a few have incredible plot twists that leave the audience astonished.
Scrappy-Doo Returns as the Villain Scooby-Doo (2002)
Scooby-Doo is a franchise that has evolved for more than fifty years in movies, television shows, shorts, comics and more. In 2002, Warner Bros. took the major step in turning Scooby-Doo into a live-action movie, starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini and the incredible Matthew Lillard. The film would see the gang reunite after years of splitting up to solve a fascinating mystery on Spooky Island. Although fans were mixed about what they thought about the film, Scooby-Doo has aged quite well as a nostalgic, fun adventure.

As a Brit, I may be a little biased when I say this: The opening ceremony for the London 2012 Summer Olympics was the best ever. Directed by Danny Boyle, the usual hour of dancers and acrobats twirling around was spectacular and silly, complete with skits celebrating the Industrial Revolution, the NHS, and the nation's rich cultural scene. Movie buffs also got two special treats: Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean daydreaming about beating the boys from "Chariots of Fire" in their famous beach race, and Queen Elizabeth II making her screen debut opposite Daniel Craig's James Bond before her stunt double sky-dived into the stadium. It was surely the best trailer "Skyfall," which hit theaters a few months later, could have hoped for.
The music of the Fab Four featured heavily during the ceremony, complete with Sir Paul McCartney wrapping things up by leading a sing-a-long to "Hey Jude." As such,...

King Charles and Queen Camilla have a poignant and enduring love story; however, the public did not always accept their romance as the pair were royally butchered in the press.
Camilla Was Once Seen As “The Most Hated Woman In Britain”
Most people know that Charles and Camilla were having an affair while he was married to Princess Diana. During that time, Camilla was known as “The most hated woman in Britain.”
It didn’t help Camilla that Diana was high-spirited, beloved by the public, a style icon, and a trailblazer. She was “The People’s Princess.”
The Commonwealth wasn’t too keen on Charles’s relationship with Camilla. She became famous only after she was mired in scandal and controversy.
It took a long time for the Commonwealth to embrace Camilla and even longer for Queen Elizabeth II to give the couple her blessing.

The Commonwealth wasn’t too keen on Charles’s relationship with Camilla. She became famous only after she was mired in scandal and controversy.
It took a long time for the Commonwealth to embrace Camilla and even longer for Queen Elizabeth II to give the couple her blessing.

While it’s not uncommon for rock stars to attract massive hordes of adoring fans, that’s usually not the case for middle-aged British comedians. But back in the ‘90s, a certain mostly-mute, possibly extraterrestrial character received Beatles-like attention from the Great White North.
I am, of course, talking about Mr. Bean.
On March 1, 1996, Rowan Atkinson was scheduled to make a public appearance at the Eaton Centre shopping mall in downtown Toronto — not as himself, but in character as Mr. Bean. The fictional simpleton would autograph copies of his newly-released VHS tape at a desk set up in the middle of the mall. Simple, right? Well, not so much…

The Christmas season might've just ended, but the arrival of a beloved holiday movie on Netflix means we have the chance to extend the joy. Released just over 21 years ago in 2003, Richard Curtis' Love Actually has stood the test of time to become one of the go-to Christmas movies of today. With a star-studded cast composed of Bill Nighy, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, Laura Linney, Liam Neeson, Rowan Atkinson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Martin Freeman, and Martine McCutcheon, Love Actually has since become a Christmas staple for rom-com lovers.

Tim Allen is back on TV in his new ABC sitcom, Shifting Gears, and in a recent interview he likened working on the series to acting alongside the late Alan Rickman on Galaxy Quest for one reason. While it seems that the sci-fi parody and Allen’s new grounded sitcom are worlds apart – literally – for Allen, there is definitely something that he feels about his newest venture that harkens back to the much-loved 1999 movie – the fun and chaotic working environment that drove Rickman to distraction.
Allen’s new sitcom, which also stars MCU’s Kat Dennings, has not been given the warmest welcome with its first reviews, landing “rotten” 44% and 46% Rotten Tomatoes scores from critics and audiences, respectively. This is a very different result to the stellar 90% Tomatometer score that Galaxy Quest landed over 25 years ago, when Allen was arguably at the height of his career.

It's been more than a year since Hugh Grant played Lofty the Oompa-Loompa in the musical fantasy Wonka. However, the actor still finds himself haunted by comments he made about the movie during its press tour.
In an interview with Variety, Grant explained that comments made in jest are often taken out of context and reported as fact. "Everyone said, 'Yes, we loved it. We loved it. We loved it," the actor recalled, referring to when the cast of Wonka was asked if they enjoyed making the movie during the press tour. "And when they got to me, just for a comedy moment at the end, I said, 'I hated it.'"

Elf has rightfully earned its spot as one of the most iconic Christmas movies of all time, blending earnest holiday spirit with a subversive sense of humor. Directed by Jon Favreau and starring Will Ferrell in a career-defining role, Elf tells the story of Buddy, a human raised by elves in the North Pole, who travels to New York City to find his biological father and connect with his human roots. The film is a perfect mix of quirky comedy, highlighted by Ferrell’s witty one-liners, and themes of belonging, redemption, and the power of believing in something greater than yourself.
For fans of Elf who are looking for a similarly heartwarming feel, holiday classics like Love Actually and Home Alone also offer a comparable type of humor intertwined with genuinely moving moments. The Lion King is one of Disney's most celebrated films and is fondly remembered for its soundtrack, colorful characters, and gripping story. People of all ages still remember the first time they heard Timon and Pumba sing "Hakuna Matata," still cry in anguish when Mufasa falls to his death, and cheer for joy when Simba returns from exile to topple the evil Scar. With the upcoming release of The Lion King: Mufasa, it's more than apparent that the popularity and longevity of The Lion King are assured.
One particular scene in The Lion King, one which features the song "Be Prepared," takes on a much darker tone than the rest of what's featured in the film. The song's subject matter and lyrical content depict Scar's plans to overthrow his brother Mufasa and seize the throne. However, a considerable amount of the accompanying imagery takes styling cues from The Third Reich...

The British legend behind Mr. Bean, Johnny English, and Man vs. Bee is returning for a second show with Netflix, and this time he's fighting a baby (kind of). Rowan Atkinson first partnered with Netflix for Man vs. Bee, a comedy series far funnier than its name would imply. Released in 2022, the show received decent reviews, earning 74% on Rotten Tomatoes, although audiences weren't as kind with 59%. Many assumed Atkinson and Netflix were one and done after Man vs. Bee was canceled in 2023, but the actor is back for another go around.
Netflix announced the new series on social media, with the caption, "Rowan's back, baby!" The post shared four hilarious photos of Rowan Atkinson Photoshopped into four popular Netflix shows. Mr. Bean was about to be called Mr. Cauliflower (Photo Credit – Facebook)
Yes, the iconic character could’ve had a quirky, vegetable-inspired name, which tossed around—including Mr. White and Mr. Cauliflower. But thankfully, Mr. Bean stuck. The change came down to the need for something short, sharp, and memorable, a name that would stick in people’s minds—and the rest, as they say, is comedy history.
Back in the early days, Atkinson first tested out the character in Canned Laughter, a comedy sketch collection. Here, he played Robert Box, a socially awkward proto-version of Mr. Bean. Box was a bit less peculiar but still showed flashes of the Bean-like awkwardness that would later become world-famous. The standout moment? Robert making coffee—not in a cup, but directly in his mouth. Sounds messy, right? This bizarre gag even made a cameo in Bean, Rowan Atkinson’s big-screen debut, cementing...

Rowan Atkinson is returning to Netflix to follow up Man Vs Bee with slapstick sequel series Man Vs Baby.
Rowan Atkinson’s prowess at physical comedy and slapstick shenanigans combined with his malleable rubber face have made him famous worldwide as Mr Bean. One of Atkinson’s biggest influences is French comedian and filmmaker Jacques Tati, and he based much of the humour in 2007’s Mr Bean’s Holiday on Tati’s masterpiece Monsieur Hulot’s Holiday.
It made sense that Atkinson would try to reach the widest possible audience by creating a near silent series for Netflix. Man vs Bee, which Atkinson created with Will Davies and also starred Jing Lusi, Claudie Blakley, Tom Basden, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Greg McHugh, saw him play Trevor Bingley. Has Rowan Atkinson ever let us down? From Mr. Bean to Black Adder to Netflix's 2022 comedy Man vs Bee, the funny man makes us laugh. He knows his trade well, and he plies it for our benefit. But he is also a long way from being done.
This includes the Netflix announcement that filming has begun on a follow-up to Man vs Bee called Man vs Baby. There is no release date set, but it will surely be sometime in 2025.
The format appears to somewhat follow the same as its 2022 predecessor. In Man vs Bee, Atkinson's character, Trevor Bingley, was tasked with house-sitting a wealthy couple's mansion. The issue was that Bingley wasn't alone. There was also a bee in the home and hilarity ensued. Sure, it's not Oscar-winning stuff, but that's not the point. The point is to have a fun watch.

Rowan Atkinson is back for Netflix and this time he’s taking on a human foe in Man vs Baby.
The streamer has rolled cameras on the series, which follows 2022’s Man vs Bee.
In Man vs Bee, the Mr Bean star was Trevor Bingley, a down-on-his-luck man who finds himself entrenched in a battle with an insect while house sitting a rich couple’s modern mansion. Man vs Bee also starred Jing Lusi, Claudie Blakley, Tom Basden, Julian Rhind-Tutt and Greg McHugh.
The new series, which has started production, will see Atkinson return as Bingley alongside “another unlikely companion,” according to Netflix, as he looks after a luxurious London penthouse.

It’s safe to say Richard Curtis wasn’t a huge fan of Love Actually postproduction.
The writer-director of the beloved 2003 holiday rom-com recently told IndieWire that it was a “catastrophe” editing the film starring Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, Laura Linney, Bill Nighy, Martine McCutcheon, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman and Rowan Atkinson.
“The strange thing about Love Actually is, when we finished the movie, it was a catastrophe,” Curtis said of putting together multiple storylines and character arcs. “It took six months to re-edit it and learn all these lessons about how to do a multi-thread story.”
The film follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during December, leading up to Christmas in London.

When The Lion King first premiered in 1994, it broke a trend during the Disney Renaissance that began with The Little Mermaid in 1989. Instead of featuring a princess as a central or supporting figure in the story -- it followed a young lion prince named Simba grappling with life-altering challenges as he comes of age in the African savanna. The Disney creatives developing the movie realized at one point that they were basically re-imagining William Shakespeare's Hamlet and leaned into the idea. It tackled heavy themes like childhood trauma, grief, and adult responsibilities. All the while producing some of the 1990's most memorable Disney tunes.

As the Christmas season approaches, you're probably ready to get into the holiday spirit with some on-brand movies — and if we're putting aside all but one streaming service, there are some pretty great selections on Amazon's Prime Video. I'm just as susceptible to holiday cheer as anyone else, and whether they're from my childhood or new discoveries, I like to settle in on a chilly early winter night with a holiday-themed movie. So what are some great selections on Prime Video?
This list obviously excludes anything that requires a secondary subscription — looking at you, movies available on Prime through Max and Starz — as well as anything you have to pay to rent, but there are still some pretty solid holiday movies to choose from on the online retailer's proprietary streamer. From dramatic family Christmases to a sprawling British ensemble comedy to one of the most famous (and emotional) Christmas movies in cinematic history,...

The 1980s was a unique decade for British comedies and films in general, with a golden tinge on the ten-year run that produced some incredible cinematic works. In contrast to many American comedies at the time, the differences between the two are often noted, with British work dripping in irony, satire, and self-deprecation, which create a unique brand of comedy. It was also a time when many of Britain's rising stars and comedians were really coming into their own and blossoming into internationally known talents.
There are many films from the time that stand out as rewatchable British classics, such as A Fish Called Wanda and Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. These films represent some of the very best of comedy, from the surreal and absurd sketch comedy of Monty Python to films that lean on social commentary and hilarious premises to provide the breeding ground for comical moments.

The Christmas holiday season is the perfect time to unwind with family, share gifts, eat your body weight in Turkey, and feast your eyes on as many movies as possible. There's always something on at the cinema that's perfect escapism during the holidays, and the streaming services will also be churning out their latest Christmas offering, like Dwayne Johnson's Red One. However, audiences also get movies with star actors who are not usually associated with festive films.
The holiday season would definitely feel like it's lacking something if there weren't numerous festive offerings to consume. Whether it's a family ritual, like sitting down to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, or catching a festive horror like Terrifier 3. However, what's so wonderful about Christmas movies is how they often subvert audience expectations by casting actors not usually associated with the genre.

The best movies are often the ones that are able to transcend the moment, understanding better than anyone else what is going on in the culture and creating something that is uniquely ahead of its time. Some of the most hilarious movies, be they outright comedies or laugh-out-loud action films, are able to capture something before anyone else has had a chance to.
The early 2000s were a time of huge transition for Hollywood, where CGI began to take hold in lieu of traditional special effects and 2D animation, and superhero films started to emerge as the dominant blockbuster force. But some of the funniest films of the beginning of the century stand out, capturing the essence of something that would continue to resonate years, and even decades, later.

There are many iconic comedic characters that people grew up watching and admiring, including the loveable Mr. Bean from Mr. Bean. This often immature and clueless character (played by the great Rowan Atkinson) gets into loads of trouble each episode, which he does rather hilariously. Its what makes Mr. Bean beloved even to this day. And because of the success, it gave way to spin-offs and movies, such as Mr. Beans Holiday. This movie was adored by the audience, and it even became a huge success at the box office. Apart from Atkinson, it stars award-winning actor Willem Dafoe. But did you know that this movie was a tribute to a French comedy classic, Monsieur Hulots Holiday?...
