Why The Cast Of The Mission: Impossible TV Show Hated The Original Movie
Image
Nearly 30 years after the release of the 1996 "Mission: Impossible" movie, most people assume the Brian De Palma film was a big success. There's the fact that it grossed over $450 million worldwide at the box office, in addition to earning solid reviews from critics. And any movie that spawns a franchise spanning four decades has to be special. The potentially final and, notably, longest entry, "Mission: Impossible -- The Final Reckoning," has leaned hard into referencing earlier films in the series with its pre-release marketing campaign, especially quintessential moments like Impossible Missions Force (Imf) agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) not only dangling from a wire in a highly pressurized and sensitive CIA location but also wielding a knife that plays a crucial part in that set piece.

Yet, there's one aspect of the 1996 film that, as critical as it is to the movie series' entire reason for being, is easy to...

Veeps to Premiere Music-Led Indie Dramedy ‘Nora’ as the Streaming Platform Expands to Include Films (Exclusive)
Image
Veeps, the live-streaming platform co-founded by Joel and Benji Madden and owned by Live Nation, has expanded its business to include narrative films, with the indie motherhood dramedy “Nora” among the first available titles.

Following a theatrical release by Suncatcher Productions and Blonde Dog Productions, “Nora” will make its global streaming debut via Veeps on Saturday, May 24.

The feature film — written, directed by and starring Anna Campbell — follows Nora, a singer-songwriter who gives up her music career and settles in suburbia to raise her child. But, as the film’s logline explains, “her dreams have other plans” — meaning that, as Nora contends with a precocious child, a new home and navigating the PTA moms, her musical aspirations live on through whimsical music video fantasies that capture her truth.

Described as “a visceral portrait of a woman in rediscovery,” the lyrical film premiered in March at the Cinequest Film Festival, where...

Is the ‘Clue’ TV Series Still Happening? Writer Shares Troubling Update
Image
Aside from video games, board games also get film and TV adaptations. One of them is Clue (or Cluedo), which was first announced in 2021, then later in 2024 when it was revealed to be an animated series that Sony will release. Unfortunately, this board game project was unable to leave the tabletop setting as it was recently reported that the show was canceled.

Clue's writer Dewayne Perkins revealed in an interview that the show was canceled but didn't give any reason why that was the case. He also didn't shed light on whether anyone else would pick up the project or what was going to happen to the IP. In 2021, it was reported that Fox was developing the Clue TV series, as it partnered with Hasbro and Bento Box Entertainment to make the series. But by 2024, the film and TV rights moved to Sony, thanks to a new deal made by Hasbro,...

Alan Rudolph and Keith Carradine Bucked Hollywood Expectations for ‘Choose Me’ — and Built an Enduring ’80s Romantic Gem
Image
It’s a good time to be an Alan Rudolph fan. Last fall, Shout! Studios released a gorgeous restoration of Rudolph’s unjustly maligned satire “Breakfast of Champions,” and this month Rudolph enters the Criterion Collection with a new 4K Uhd edition of his deliriously romantic and unclassifiable “Choose Me.”

A hypnotic noir-inflected fever dream following the intersecting love stories of a group of strangers who frequent the same smoky bar, “Choose Me” is vintage Rudolph: hyper-stylized, hilarious, and concerned with universal ideas expressed in the most idiosyncratic possible manner.

When Rudolph came to write and direct “Choose Me” in 1984, he was at a crossroads in his career, having made two excellent but unpopular movies (“Welcome to L.A.” and “Remember My Name”) outside the system and two studio pictures (“Roadie” and “Endangered Species”) on which Rudolph felt suffocated after his liberating apprenticeship as an assistant director under Robert Altman on “The Long Goodbye” and “Nashville.

9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 11 Lets Bobby Take Back His Own Show
Image
The following contains spoilers from 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 11, "Holy Mother of God," which debuted Thursday, March 20 on ABC.

9-1-1 has changed a lot in its eight seasons, but it's particularly shifted character prioritization. Once upon a time, 9-1-1 had a heavy focus on Peter Krause's character Bobby Nash, who was a deeply troubled fire captain struggling with the guilt from losing his entire family in a fire he caused. Now during Season 8, the focus is more on Evan "Buck" Buckley and his exhausting romantic endeavors. In Season 8, Episode 11, "Holy Mother of God," 9-1-1 strikes a balance to honor the old days of the series and bring forth a new future.

After the problematic Season 8, Episode 10, 9-1-1 gets back on its usual path of low-risk emergencies in the personal department. A time jump has occurred, as evidenced by Maddie Buckley's longer hairstyle and her recovery,...

‘9-1-1’: Aisha Hinds on Directing Bobby’s Reconciliation With His Mother
Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 11 “Holy Mother of God.”] Surprise, Bobby’s (Peter Krause) mother is alive! That’s even news to his wife Athena (Angela Bassett). Bobby’s family reunion with his mother, Ann (Lesley Ann Warren), and his brother, Charlie (Sean O’Bryan), when an emergency at her mega-church brings the 118 to the scene. As he explains to Athena, he doesn’t talk about her because he doesn’t want to think about her or want her in his life because she’s a con artist. He last spoke to her before his and Marcy’s wedding, and after the apartment fire that killed his wife and children, Ann sent a condolence letter on official ministry stationary. He didn’t even finish it because he was afraid there’d be a pitch for a donation. Charlie then visits Bobby at the firehouse and invites him and Athena to lunch with Ann. But ...

‘9-1-1’ Creator Says Buck’s Buddie Denial Is Not the End, but ‘It Doesn’t Mean I’m Making Promises’
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “9-1-1” Season 8, Episode 11.

“9-1-1” barely gave its firefighters a chance to breathe following Season 8’s two-part serial killer saga before dropping more chaos on their laps: Including the unexpected introduction of Bobby’s mother and Buck dropping a difficult truth for Buddie fans.

Episode 11, titled “Holy Mother of God,” followed the 118 as they responded to an emergency call at a megachurch, where Bobby (Peter Krause) ran into his estranged mother (played by Lesley Ann Warren), who turned out to be a traveling minister with a health crisis. Viewers learn that Bobby distanced himself from his mother and brother Charlie (Sean O’Bryan) after the death of his dad, after seeing his family move forward from the loss and making a name for themselves in the megachurch circuit.

While Bobby dealt with his family reunion, Buck (Oliver Stark) struggled with his best friend Eddie (Ryan Guzman...

911 season 8 episode 11 recap: Buck's ex makes a surprise return as Bobby confronts his past
Image
After watching his best friend move to Texas in the previous episode of 911, the eleventh episode of 911 saw Buck moving into his new digs aka Eddie’s house and it quickly becomes clear he might be in over his head. While Buck made the grand gesture of subletting Eddie’s house so he could move to Texas, moving into his best friend’s house is only making him miss Eddie that much more.

Unable to sleep in the house, Buck goes to see Maddie and asks to sleep over. He opens up about struggling to sleep at the house telling Maddie how the house just doesn’t feel like his own place. For Back, it’s just a constant reminder of Eddie to which Maddie asks Buck to make a promise to her: try to make some new friends.

The next day, Buck tries to make small talk...

911 season 8, episode 11 recap and review: Can Athena accept Bobby's lie?
Image
It's time for some more of Bobby's lies to come out in 911 season 8, episode 11. However, I will say that technically Bobby didn't like: his mother is dead to him. That's just not the way a lot of people see it.

Caution: This post contains Spoilers for 911 season 8, episode 11

The new episode will see Bobby's mom come into the story, as the 118 is called out to a situation at her church. This leads to a lot of questions. Why exactly did Bobby lie about his mother being dead? On the surface of this, I don't blame Bobby for his wording.

Meanwhile, we get a returning cast member. Anirudh Pisharody is back as Ravi, which makes sense considering the 118 is a team member down. Ryan Guzman's Eddie is off to Texas to be an active father to his son, Christopher. Ravi has been heavily underused since his first appearance in...

All 3 Endings in 'Clue,' Ranked
Image
One of the best movies based on a board game, Clue is a cult classic and one of the silliest whodunits around. Named after the characters in the famous game from the 40s, the cast includes Yvette (Colleen Camp), Mr. Boddy (Lee Ving), Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren), Mr. Green (Michael McKean), Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd), Wadsworth (Tim Curry), Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan), Colonel Mustard (Martin Mull), and Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn). These people were asked to come to Mr. Boddy's large mansion, and each of them quickly becomes a suspect of murder. As the film progresses, more and more people around the mansion are found dead while more and more clever puns are tossed out. What makes this mystery particularly unique is that it follows the spirit of the game by allowing for more than one kind of ending. There aren't as many endings as there are characters, but...

Lesley Ann Warren and Geneviève Bujold in Choose Me (1984)
The Criterion Collection Unveils March Releases Including the Overlooked Chaplin Film ‘A Woman of Paris’
Lesley Ann Warren and Geneviève Bujold in Choose Me (1984)
One of our favorite times of the month is when the Criterion Collection drops their releases for the months ahead and the batch its announced for March certainly doesn’t disappoint. Ranging from dark rom-coms to monster movies, Criterion is adding some proper deep cuts, as well as 4K restorations of two films that are already part of the collection.

The first film given the Criterion treatment is Alan Rudolph’s “Choose Me,” starring Keith Carradine and Lesley Ann Warren. Set in Los Angeles during the 1980s, the film follows a number of lovers violently weaving in and out of each other’s live, mostly crossing paths at a dive bar. A protégé of Robert Altman, Rudolph’s films, such as “Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle” and “Breakfast of Champions,” often carry a balance of absurdity and bite. Next up is the 1989 addition to the Godzilla cannon, “Godzilla vs. Biollante” from Kazuki Omori.

Pamela Anderson Reveals She Never Actually Wed Producer Jon Peters After $20M Marriage Offer
Image
Pamela Anderson is setting the record straight on her marriage record. Specifically, the newly minted Golden Globe-nominated star of Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl would like the world to know that she never actually tied the knot with veteran Hollywood producer Jon Peters.

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter’s Scott Feinberg on his Awards Chatter podcast, the executive editor of awards asked Anderson to reveal “the biggest misconception about you?” The 57-year-old actress wasted no time in coming up with an answer. “That I’ve been married six times instead of four,” she explained. “I never was married to Jon Peters. Do you want to know the Jon Peters story?”

Of course Feinberg welcomed the anecdote, and Anderson dove right in.

“I had just come home from France and my son called me. He goes, ‘You’re not going to believe it. Jon Peters called me. He...

10 Most Underrated Indie Movies of the '80s, Ranked
Image
From John Hughes teen classics to one-of-a-kind science fiction adventures, the 1980s had something for everyone. The '80s in film might be most notable for the domination of the summer blockbuster, which began in the previous decade with Jaws. Action stars were made from scratch and introduced to audiences all over the world, from Schwarzenegger to Van Damme to Stallone. The John Hughes revolution continued in full force, with The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Sixteen Candles sweeping audiences young and old off their feet. Most importantly, however, independent cinema continued to deliver absolute gems for the truest of movie lovers. While these films might've failed to resonate with audiences, critics, or the box office at the time, they still absolutely deserve their flowers.

If fans search long and hard, unsung movies can be found in every corner of the industry. Independent cinema is a hit parade,...

Every Actor Who Played Lois Lane In Live-Action (Thus Far)
Image
When one looks up in the sky to find neither a bird nor a plane but Superman, it usually means that Lois Lane is not far away. After three television series and twice as many films, the characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster are still going strong after 86 years. Superman may have been a different type of hero people hadn't seen before, but Lois was also unique, especially in 1938. Since then, nine actors have brought Lois Lane to life in live action adaptations, with a 10th on the way.

Superman will be the first movie to launch James Gunn's Dcu. While David Corenswet was tapped to play the Man of Steel, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Rachel Brosnahan will offer her take on Lois Lane, the intrepid reporter and hero in her own right. Lois has been defined by her decades of stories in the comics, but...

The Only Major Actors Still Alive From The 1960s Mission: Impossible TV Series
Image
Before Tom Cruise was driving motorcycles off cliffs, clinging to planes, and fighting bad guys atop moving trains in the name of "Mission: Impossible," the franchise had its humble beginnings in the form of a very '60s CBS series. The original "Mission: Impossible" was a spy series with a rotating cast of characters created by Bruce Gellar, who died in a plane crash just five years after the show ended. Several key cast members have passed away in the years since then, including Peter Graves, Greg Morris, Martin Landau, Steven Hill, and, of course, Leonard Nimoy.

"Mission: Impossible" was a huge success when it aired, winning 10 Emmys throughout its seven-season run and producing 171 episodes. The show inspired an '80s revival series, but "Mission: Impossible" really took off when Cruise (and Brian De Palma) got a hold of the franchise in 1996. The near-superhuman character Ethan Hunt was created for the movies,...

Jon Peters’ Final Cut: Hair-Raising Tales From a Legendary Wildman
Image
His knees are bad, he’s paunchy and puffy, and the former celebrity hairdresser has gray roots at least 2 inches long. At 79, Jon Peters no longer is the bad-boy seducer of women from Barbra Streisand to Pamela Anderson, the inspiration for the Warren Beatty film Shampoo, the wild-man character that Bradley Cooper portrayed with all the old bluster in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2021 film Licorice Pizza.

But as he sits in a combination bed- and sitting room in his apartment in the Beverly Hills flats, he still spins out grand plans that may or may not be grounded in reality. Let no one say that Jon Peters no longer dreams big.

I had not seen or spoken to Jon in the more than 25 years since the publication of Hit & Run, the book that Nancy Griffin and I wrote about Sony’s ill-advised 1989 decision to hire him and his then-partner,...

Every Kurt Russell And Goldie Hawn Movie, Ranked According To Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are one of Hollywood's most revered celebrity couples, and that point isn't really up for debate; they're two old-school Hollywood movie stars whose kids are also famous. With that said, are their on-screen collaborations any good? Sort of!

Russell and Hawn have been together since 1983, and their family has no shortage of superstars — their son Wyatt Russell is an actor whom you've probably seen in "Black Mirror," "22 Jump Street," and "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," and through Hawn Russell is a stepfather to Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson (their father is musician Bill Hudson). Famous shared family aside, Russell and Hawn have also been in a handful of films together; they actually met on the set of the lowest-ranked one on this list. Clue remake | Barbarian director Zach Cregger on board
Zach Cregger
Barbarian director Zach Cregger is set to team up with Sony for a remake of the 1985 classic mystery comedy Clue.

Here’s an interesting story that has emerged this morning regarding Zach Cregger, the director who bought us 2022’s Barbarian, a wild horror that became one of that year’s most talked-about films. The success of Barbarian was enough to earn Cregger a handsome deal with New Line Cinema for whom he will be directing his follow-up film, Weapons.

According to reporting at the time, Cregger’s budget for Weapons is 'double the size of Barbarian's, while he has reportedly scored a string of other concessions such as “a guaranteed greenlight, a guaranteed theatrical release, a controlling interest in a backend pot and Cregger receiving final cut pending a threshold being met during test screenings.’

Given that it’s been dubbed as the Magnolia of horror films, we’re...

‘American Masters’ celebrates Blake Edwards
Image
There really hasn’t been a filmmaker quite like Blake Edwards. He could go from the silly-billy comedy of his “Pink Panther” comedies starring Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau to “Days of Wine and Roses,” a devastating drama dealing with alcoholism to the gender-bender musical comedy “Victor/Victoria” starring his wife Julie Andrews to the underrated Western “The Wild Rovers” with William Holden and Ryan O’Neal. Edwards even turned the diminutive British comedian Dudley Moore into a leading man thanks to his 1979 romantic comedy “10.” And let’s not forget the extraordinary collaboration he had with composer Henry Mancini who earned four Oscars including best song “Moon River” from 1961’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and the title tune from 1962’s “Days of Wine and Roses.”

Still, there was no love lost between Edwards and Hollywood.

In my 2003 Los Angeles Times interview with Edwards, who had personality to spare, said “I have been a...

Clue Movie & TV Rights Switch Studios, Putting An End To Ryan Reynolds' Potential Remake
Image
Sony has acquired the movie and television rights to the Clue remake. This acquisition means that any previous iterations of the project have been taken off the board. One such iteration starring Ryan Reynolds is no longer in production.

The remake of Clue has changed hands. The original 1985 cult classic movie was an adaptation of the iconic whodunit board game of the same name, which was originally manufactured under the name Cluedo in the UK in 1949. Boasting an ensemble cast that included Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Madeline Kahn, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren, the movie honored the adaptability of the original game by featuring three different possible solutions to the murder of the character Mr. Boddy.

Per IndieWire, much like the multiple Clue endings, the next stage of production for the planned remake of the movie has encountered another plot twist. The movie and television...

Image
Sony Pictures Television and TriStar Pictures have made a deal with Hasbro Entertainment for the film and TV rights for Clue, which could mean that we could get a new movie based on the beloved board game.

“Sony is the perfect partner to adapt a property as culturally impactful and mystery-defining as ‘Clue,’” said Hasbro Heads of Film and TV Zev Foreman and Gabriel Marano. “Nicole Brown, Katherine Pope, and their teams are tremendous creative collaborators and ideal partners to help us figure out after 75 years if it was Colonel Mustard in the conservatory with the candlestick.“

Clue was previously adapted in 1985, featuring an ensemble cast that included Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, and Colleen Camp. Surprisingly, this has been the only Clue movie, but it’s not for lack of trying.

Sony Will Be the Latest to Try to Remake ‘Clue,’ This Time for Both Film and TV
Image
Sony is the latest player that would like to make an accusation. The studio has won the rights to develop a reimagining of the Hasbro board game “Clue,” and the studio intends to bring the murder mystery game to the screen for both film and television.

Hollywood has been trying to remake “Clue,” first adapted in Jonathan Lynn’s cult classic screwball comedy “Clue” from 1985, for years. Most recently, a project was set up at 20th Century Studios, and it had Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman circling to star along with “The Muppets Movie” filmmaker James Bobin directing. In 2022, Oren Uziel (“The Lost City”) stepped up to rewrite the original draft of the script from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (“Deadpool”), but it too went nowhere.

No cast or creative talent is attached at this stage of development. Sony is the only studio developing anything based on “Clue” at this time,...

1974 Tony Awards: History was made with wins by ‘The River Niger’ and ‘Raisin’
Image
With the 96th Academy Awards in the history books, it’s time to become obsessed over the 77th Tony Awards. Nominations are April 30th with the awards set to air on CBS on June 16 from Lincoln Center. Among the contenders for Tony nominations are many musicals based on movies including “Back to the Future,’ “The Notebook,” “Water for Elephants” and “The Outsiders”: high profile revivals such as Ibsen’s “An Enemy of the People” with Jeremy Strong; “Cabaret” with Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne and the Who’s “Tommy”; imports from London and transfers from off-Broadway.

Do you remember the Tony landscape 50 years ago? The 28th annual honors took place April 21, 1974, at the Shubert Theater and aired on ABC. And to say it was a star-studded affair is something of an understatement. Robert Preston, Peter Falk, Cicely Tyson, Florence Henderson hosted; presenters included Al Pacino –-let’s hope he had better...

Coleman Hough, Screenwriter on Two Steven Soderbergh Films, Dies at 62
Image
Coleman Hough, who received solo screenplay credit on the quirky Steven Soderbergh-directed improvisational films Full Frontal and Bubble, has died. She was 62.

Hough died Feb. 24 at the Actors Fund Home in Englewood, New Jersey, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease, her friend Jennifer Romine told The Hollywood Reporter. She was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s when she was 42.

Full Frontal (2002), set in Hollywood and a film within a film, shot in 18 days using a consumer-grade digital camera and was the first produced screenplay by playwright and poet Hough.

Featuring Julia Roberts, Catherine Keener, David Hyde Pierce, Blair Underwood, David Duchovny and Jeff Garlin as a Harvey Weinstein type, it marked an extreme change of pace for Soderbergh, who was coming off Erin Brockovich (2000), an Oscar win for Traffic (2000) and Ocean’s Eleven (2001).

Hough’s characters are “simultaneously self-absorbed and less introspective than they think they are,” Craig J. Clark...

10 Actors Who Reprised Their Classic Roles In Really Weird Places
Image
Actors often reprise iconic roles in unexpected places, like commercials, music videos, and TV shows. The appearance of familiar characters in new contexts can surprise and delight audiences, creating memorable moments. Some actors enjoy revisiting beloved characters for the joy of playing the role again and connecting with fans.

When an actor's performance in a role becomes so iconic that they're known for playing that character, they usually get asked to reprise the role in new and different places outside the original material. It can be shocking to turn on the TV one day and see an actor reviving a character thought long gone for a seemingly random project. However, the more niche and unexpected the circumstances are, the more fun an actor can have with the role outside the confines of a major movie or TV show.

For some, it might be monetary, but for others, they simply enjoy...

12 Hilarious Comedy Movies People Don't Watch Enough
Image
Hilarious movies don't always get the recognition they deserve, but they are still enjoyable for new audiences. Comedy is subjective, so not everyone agrees on which movies are the funniest, leading to some overlooked gems. Re-examining these movies is a great way to discover new favorites and appreciate the comedic brilliance they offer.

Not all comedies get the recognition they deserve, and there are plenty of hilarious movies which should have more of an audience. Naturally, some great comedy movies fade after a few decades, and people aren't as enthused about them as they once were, but this doesn't make them any less enjoyable for new audiences. In other cases, a laugh-out-loud movie can be sadly overlooked when it gets released, and it fails to cut through and reach a mass audience.

Re-examining some of these movies is a great opportunity to discover new favorites. It can be puzzling why...

10 Reasons We'll Miss All Rise
Image
While All Rise may have been canceled, the legal drama has plenty to be proud of. From its debut on CBS to its current home on OWN, All Rise boasts many strengths that are missing from other TV series. Led by a talented yet underappreciated cast, the show has a unique approach to storytelling and finds many small, meaningful ways to surprise viewers.

It's disappointing that Season 3 will be the last, especially as the season will only last 10 episodes. Still, thanks to its talented stars and captivating character arcs, All Rise is a special TV drama and there isn't likely to ever be another series quite like it. Luckily, viewers can stream it on either Hulu or Max before new installments premiere on OWN.

Why This Cult Classic Mystery Deserves a Sequel
Image
There may not be another comedy mystery as iconic as the 1985 cult classic, Clue. After all, the film had an all-star cast comprised of Tim Curry, Madeline Khan, Christopher Lloyd, Martin Mall, Lesley Ann Warren and Michael McKean. Additionally, the film delivered some outstanding one-liners that kept viewers engaged and entertained. However, the movie stands out because the entire premise, filled with humor, intrigue and suspense, was built off the titular board game, so the plot was a triumph as an original narrative.

Moreover, due to the success of Barbie at the box office, toy-inspired movies may begin to see a resurgence. If that's the case, Clue must be part of the conversation. As a result, even though the film isn't strictly based on a line of toys, Clue does deserve a sequel.

Clue's Brutal Alternate Ending Detailed By Director & Tim Curry: "It Wasn't Surprising Enough"
Image
Tim Curry and director Jonathan Lynn detail the brutal alternate ending of Clue that got scrapped. The film, based on the eponymous board game, premiered back in 1985 and follows six guests who, under mysterious circumstances, are invited to attend a dinner at a New England mansion. However, when their host is murdered, they must work to identify his killer, as well as the weapon involved. Curry portrayed the butler Wadsworth, and was joined by a cast that included Eileen Brennan, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren.

While Clue presents three different endings, Curry reveals that there was originally another conclusion in which Wadsworth was the murderer. During a recent interview with Empire, the actor says, "I ran around the house killing everybody." Explaining why that moment was removed from the film, Lynn adds that it did not feel like much of a surprise. Read...

Tim Curry Reveals Unused Alternate Ending for Clue
Image
The Clue movie was innovative with its approach of having three different endings, making it so some filmgoers didn't know which one they'd be seeing when the film was released in 1985. Based on the popular board game, Clue tells the story of six strangers invited to a mansion when the wealthy owner turns up dead. Everyone is a suspect, but the identity of the killer revealed in the end would depend upon which cut of the film was screened. The home media and streaming releases of the film include all three endings, presenting the first two as "what if?" scenarios with the third serving as the "true" ending.

In the film, Tim Curry memorably played Wadsworth, the butler. Reflecting on that role in a new interview with Empire, Curry recalled how his character would have been revealed as a mass murderer who killed everyone in a fourth planned ending that didn't make the cut.

‘Mission: Impossible’ Ended 50 Years Ago: 10 Declassified Facts About the Show
Image
Covert operations, shadowy government agencies, foreign intrigue, technological wizardry, masters of disguises, heist-like action, self-destructing tapes — Mission: Impossible had it all. Oh, and that iconic theme song, of course. Mission: Impossible ran for seven seasons and 172 episodes on CBS before ending 50 years ago, on March 30, 1973. Steven Hill, Barbara Bain, Greg Morris, and Peter Lupus made up the original Impossible Mission Force — whose missions, should they choose to accept them, involved retrieving sensitive information, recovering ill-gotten goods, neutralizing targets, and averting geopolitical crises. As the show progressed, the faces of the Imf changed — and not just because of the latex masks the operatives so often wore for disguises. Peter Graves took over as Imf leader, and Martin Landau, Leonard Nimoy, Lesley Ann Warren, and Sam Elliott joined the elite team full-time. With the Mission: Impossible finale a half century behind us — and the next installment of Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible...
