Billboard 200: Chart-topping albums of 2025
Image
The Billboard 200 albums chart measures the top releases during the weekly tracking period every Friday through Thursday. While it used to be determined strictly by record sales, the ever-changing landscape of music consumption led Billboard to update its methodology for the 21st century.

In 2014, Billboard started considering multiple metrics of music success, including online streams and individual track sales, in addition to the traditional album sales that previously made up the entirety of the Billboard 200's chart determinations. An album sale currently counts as one album unit. Sales of 10 individual tracks also counts as one unit. But an artist needs 3,750 ad-supported streams or 1,250 paid subscription streams to equal one unit.

When Barneys Blinged Out Beverly Hills
Image
We had an amazing party to bring Barneys to Beverly Hills before the store opened in 1994, thrown by Lisa Eisner, one of my oldest friends in the business, and the fairy godmother of all fashion aspirants in L.A. Lisa had been a Mademoiselle editor; she and Lyssa Horn, Steve’s daughter, worked together there and were like sisters. In the ’80s, they both ended up in Paris, where Lisa worked for Vogue and Lyssa ran Barneys’ Paris office, the advance guard for all of our activities in France, from setting up showroom appointments with fledgling designers at their little garrets to booking out Chez Omar, my favorite Lebanese restaurant in the Marais, for the dinners we’d throw during the collections. There, too: discretion. You’ll never find pictures of a Lebanese belly dancer gyrating on top of a table with Azzedine, or sticking her boobs in Rei Kawakubo’s stony face.

Watch Michael Urie Nail His Self-Taped Audition for ‘Shrinking’
Image
Michael Urie is a consummate performer, equally comfortable plying his craft on stage, on camera, or in the bedroom of his New York apartment. The Upper West Side pad is where both he and his partner, actor Ryan Spahn, record most of their self-taped auditions, including the one that landed Urie his Emmy-nominated role as manic best friend Brian on the Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking. The video, shared exclusively with The Hollywood Reporter and shown below, reveals just how dialed in Urie was to the character — even as his scene partner, Spahn, read Jason Segel’s lines in a dry, affectless tone to avoid drawing too much attention to himself. (“The only thing in the world we fight about is self tapes,” Urie says. “And so basically anytime he has an audition, I have an audition, like it gets tense for that reason.”)

From Muhammad Ali To Barbra Streisand & Al Gore: Ten Of The Most Memorable Cameos In TV History
Image
Movies are full of stars and directors playing heightened versions of themselves. Indeed, they don’t come much bigger than Robert Altman’s The Player (1992), in which Tim Robbins played a ruthless producer against a backdrop of stars including Cher, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Burt Reynolds and Jack Lemmon. But, until The Studio came along, TV shows have always played by different rules. For Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s show, Hollywood legends have been queuing up, from Martin Scorsese, to Ron Howard, Olivia Wilde, Anthony Mackie, Ice Cube, Charlize Theron, Ted Sarandos, Johnny Knoxville and Aaron Sorkin.

In non-industry comedies, however, playing yourself is quite the rarity. Here are ten examples of celebrities who were prepared to go all-in for the small screen…

The Barbra Streisand Connection: Justin Trudeau Dating Katy Perry Rumor Feels Like Déjàvu
Image
Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has found himself at the center of media speculation once again, this time for his seemingly close moments with pop icon Katy Perry. Since Perry, 40, publicly ended her engagement with actor Orlando Bloom earlier this July, the rumor mill has been abuzz following a series of casual encounters between her and Justin Trudeau, 53, including a dinner date, a dog walk, and his latest attendance at her Montreal concert.

Justin Trudeau’s personal life, notably quiet since his 2023 separation from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, suddenly echoes whispers of a romantic chapter, mirroring the public intrigue that once surrounded his late father, Pierre Trudeau. He led Canada for over 15 years and was no stranger to headlines beyond politics. His linkup with critically acclaimed singer-actress Barbra Streisand stirred both admiration and scandal.

Kenny Loggins Says Making a Doc About His Life and Career Was a ‘Version of Therapy’
Image
Kenny Loggins, the king of the movie soundtracks, is the star of a new documentary titled “Conviction of the Heart.”

The 94-minute film, directed by Dori Berinstein (“Marvin Hamlisch: What He Did For Love”), is named after Loggins’ 1991 song “Convictions of the Heart,” which former Vice President Al Gore dubbed the anthem of the environmental movement.

In the doc, Loggins explains the origins of several hit songs, including “Footloose” and “Danger Zone,” featured in “Top Gun.” The doc also chronicles the music legend’s childhood as a shy, gawky, and unpopular kid with low self-esteem growing up in California; Loggins’ key role in the folk-rock movement with Loggins & Messina, a pop-rock duo he formed with Jimmy Messina in the 1970s; and the singer’s rise to fame in the 1980s as a solo artist who went on to win multiple Grammys and achieved global recognition because of the songs he...

Ozzy Osbourne Turned His Most Notorious Moment into Comedy Gold
Image
Sad news: It’s been reported that heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne has passed away at the age of 76. This may come as a shock to some rock fans, considering that Ozzy and Black Sabbath just played a “farewell” concert in Birmingham, England mere weeks ago.

Unlike Barbra Streisand’s many bogus retirement tours, this one, sadly, really did turn out to be his final show.

While Osbourne was known as the “Prince of Darkness,” in later years he was more than happy to play his zoned-out, unintelligible rocker persona for laughs, whether it was his cameo in Austin Powers in Goldmember or a commercial for World of Warcraft.

And Osbourne, to his credit, was totally willing to turn one of the most notorious, and controversial, moments of his career into a punchline with a 100-percent success rate.

During a 1982 concert in Des Moines, Iowa, the “Crazy Train” singer famously...

Alan Bergman — whose collaboration with wife Marilyn resulted in dozens of indelible songs performed from everyone from Frank Sinatra to Barbra Streisand to Michael Jackson, and soundtracked everything from In the Heat of the Night to Severance — died Thursday at the age of 99. (Marilyn died in 2002.)

The Bergmans formed a formidable lyric-writing duo, teaming with several of the greatest composers of the 20th century, including Quincy Jones, John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Henry Mancini, and Marvin Hamlisch.

They received the Trustees Award from the Grammys in 2013 and were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1980; the couple also received the organization’s highest honor, the Johnny Mercer Award, in 1997.

Here are 10 must-hear classics from their award-worthy songbook.

Alan Bergman, the Academy Award-winning songwriter of “The Way We Were,” passes away at 99
Alan Bergman
Variety reports that Hollywood legacy artist, Alan Bergman, has passed away at the age of 99 years old. Bergman had a songwriting partnership with his wife, Marilyn Bergman, that lasted over six decades. Marilyn had passed back in January of 2022. She was the first woman president and chairman of the board of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), which was a leading performing-rights society for music-makers. After her death, Alan would continue to write music.

Bergman is a near Egot winner as he garnered Oscar, Emmy and Grammy wins for his work that includes “The Way We Were,” “The Windmills of Your Mind” and “In the Heat of the Night.” Alan and Marilyn have hundreds of songs in their resume for movies and television. Their style would combine the sensibilities of traditional Great American Songbook era artists — Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin — and marry it with...

Alan Bergman, the three-time Oscar-winning lyricist who teamed with his late wife, Marilyn Bergman, to form one of the most celebrated writing duos in the history of movie music, has died. He was 99.

Bergman, whose work includes such classics as “The Windmills of Your Mind” — wonderfully employed for the second-season finale of Severance — “Nice ’n’ Easy,” “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” and “The Way We Were,” died Thursday night of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, his daughter, producer Julie Bergman Sender, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Marilyn Bergman died in January 2022 of respiratory failure at age 93.

The husband-and-wife lyricists worked particular magic with songstress Barbra Streisand and composers Marvin Hamlisch and Michel Legrand.

They won Academy Awards for the best original songs “The Way We Were” (shared with Hamlisch) from the 1973 Streisand film of that name and “Windmills of Your Mind” (shared with Legrand) from The Thomas Crown Affair...

Tamara de Lempicka Is Finally Having Her Moment
Image
It was in 1990, when a then 21-year-old acting student named Julie Rubio stumbled across the prints of an obscure artist named Tamara de Lempicka at an art exbibit inside a Miami hotel. Rubio, who would go on to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in London and New York City, had never heard of this artist, but that hardly mattered. She was immediately captivated by the bold colors and evocative images of the nude female portraits and over the next few months, she went down a rabbit hole obsessively researching every element of this woman’s life. Little did she know it was a quest that would consume the next three decades of her life.

Rubio, who’s now an independent filmmaker living in the Bay Area, will be in Los Angeles later this week for the premiere of her film The True Story of Tamara de Lempicka & The Art of Survival,...

How Game Of Thrones Writer George R.R. Martin Felt About His South Park Parody
Image
"South Park" is one of the best cartoons of modern times, full of biting commentary, hilarious situations, and a whole town's worth of memorable side characters. The show's humor has made it kind of a cultural Rorschach test for over a quarter of a century, having earned legions of defenders but also people who have tried to ban it and yielding many opinions on whether the satire is effective or just plain offensive.

Part of the appeal of "South Park" is the way it parodies pop culture and celebrities, which have had mixed reactions by its subjects. Reportedly, Tom Cruise hated his portrayal, as did Ed Sheeran, while others loved to be a part of the show, like most of the Jonas Brothers and George Clooney (the latter of whom was an important early supporter of the series).

One of the show's best parodies is its three-episode "Game of Thrones" parody,...

How Lorde Really Felt About Her Brutal South Park Parody
Image
After nearly 30 years on the air, "South Park" continues to skewer North American popular culture. Whether it's political figures, athletes, or Hollywood stars, no one is immune to a good ribbing from Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Much of the animated sitcom's most memorable episodes often target notable celebrities who were making waves at the time of an episode's release, including controversial figures like Mel Gibson and Kanye West, among others. You can read /Film's 10 best celebrity moments from the series here.

Musicians are often subject to parody on "South Park," with notable artists such as the Jonas Brothers in "The Ring" and Barbra Streisand in "Mecha-Streisand" among those who have had the honor of being depicted in the signature cutout animation style in television's most ridiculous fictional town. One of the most memorable depictions of a musician was featured in the episode "The Cissy," in which one of the...

Video: Josh Groban Talks New Barbra Streisand Duet 'Where Do I Go From You?'
Image
In commemoration of their third duet together, Barbra Streisand has shared a video featuring Josh Groban's thoughts about working with the iconic musician on the song. Titled "Where Do I Go From You?", the new duet appears on “The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two," released last month. They previously collaborated on "All I Know of Love" and "Somewhere" from West Side Story. "The song itself is full of all the things you want in a melancholy, unrequited love song," Groban notes in the video. "I think it works really well as a duet because it is essentially about the lens of somebody trying to relive all of the 'What Ifs' about a relationship, but the other voice still lingers..." Image
Barbra Streisand has released a new behind-the-scenes video of her collaboration with Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey for their recording of “One Heart, One Voice." The song, sung by the three artists, is featured on Streisand's album, “The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two," which was released last week. "When the idea of recording a song with Mariah and Ariana was first suggested, it felt inevitable that it would address female empowerment," Streisand explains in the video. Carey notes that it was a "huge honor" to sing with the music icon on the track. "Barbra has, quite literally, always been a part of my life," Grande shares. Barbra Streisand, Jamie Lee Curtis and Bianca Del Rio Help Project Angel Food Raise Nearly $722,000 During Ktla Telethon
Image
Project Angel Food’s Lead with Love: LA Strong telethon Saturday raised nearly $722,000 for the meal delivery organization.

The two-hour telecast on Ktla, hosted by Eric McCormack, Jessica Holmes, Loni Love and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Bianca Del Rio, centered on resilience in the wake of the devastating wildfires that ravaged parts of Los Angeles in January.

Founded in 1989, Project Angel Food prepares and delivers 1.5 million meals annually to more than 6,240 critically ill individuals in Los Angeles County.

In a pre-recorded message for the telethon, Barbra Streisand said, “We can lift people up. We can lead with love. … Ensuring everyone living with HIV/AIDS knows we are with them, no matter what — there is a place for them.”

Jamie Lee Curtis, chair of Project Angel’s Rise to the Challenge capital campaign, was shown touring the org’s new kitchen, where CEO Richard Ayoub revealed that the volunteer orientation room...

Frank Sinatra's Advice Changed One Of Clint Eastwood's Biggest Movies
Image
San Francisco may lag behind the likes of New York and Los Angeles in terms of sheer volume of films shot on location in the city, but it makes up for it with some extremely memorable screen appearances. There was the giant octopus attack in "It Came From Beneath the Sea," with real footage of the Golden Gate Bridge spliced with Ray Harryhausen's creature on the rampage. Steve McQueen was behind the wheel for the famous car chase in "Bullitt," and Ryan O'Neal and Barbra Streisand topped it with the best action scene ever in "What's Up, Doc?" Union Square was the setting for Gene Hackman's wire-tapping in "The Conversation," and Alcatraz Island took center stage in "The Rock". Then there was "Dirty Harry," the best Frisco movie of the 1970s, and weirdly, we have Frank Sinatra to thank for that choice of location.

Ol' Blue Eyes may...

Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro Set Thanksgiving 2026 Return in Meet the Parents 4
Ben Stiller
Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro used a sold-out 25th-anniversary screening of Meet the Parents at this year’s Tribeca Festival to confirm that the long-rumored fourth film in the franchise is formally under way.

Speaking on stage, De Niro told the audience the new script “is really good,” adding that slipping back into ex-CIA patriarch Jack Byrnes “felt immediate”. Stiller echoed the enthusiasm and said pop star Ariana Grande, newly cast as the formidable fiancée of Greg and Pam’s adult son, is “the whole engine of the movie”.

Universal Pictures has set 25 November 2026 for the release and retained writer-producer John Hamburg—who penned the first three entries—to direct for the first time. Original players Blythe Danner and Teri Polo will join Stiller and De Niro, while Owen Wilson returns as eternally upbeat rival Kevin Rawley. Jay Roach, director of the initial two installments, shifts to a...

Peter Bart: Barbara Walters Built A Career On Trust In A Bygone Era Far Removed From Today
Image
“Tell me everything,” Barbara Walters used to urge her TV guests. She believed she could coax the truth out of anyone, whether revered or disgraced, and so did her viewers.

Her confidence would be challenged today when every fragment of news, even neighborhood trivia, disappears in a blur of distrust. Since viewers no longer believe what they hear, she’d wonder, might her interviewees become too constrained about what they say?

President Trump distrusts the news media so intensely he limits his announcements to his website, even when they’re nakedly bogus (“lasting disarmament”?) .

If that revered truth-teller Walter Cronkite were alive today it’s doubtful whether even he could cast a clear focus on Gaza or Tehran, on Zelenskyy or Netanyahu. Frustrated, he might even unleash AI on Ice just to see what emerges.

Media reporting on immigration purges is so distrusted that entire new layers of fact-finders have...

Barbra Streisand Is Out of ‘Focks’ for ‘Meet the Parents 4’ Sequel After Unfair Pay
Image
Barbra Streisand has been portraying roles in Hollywood for quite a long time. Although her filmography spans decades of hard work, Meet the Fockers is one of her most famous movies, which was a comedy film from back in 2004.

The film eventually turned into a franchise with sequels, which later became known as the Meet the Parents franchise. Well, recent news broke out that Meet the Parents 4 was confirmed to be in development, with a majority of the cast returning to reprise their roles. However, Barbra Streisand rejected the offer because she still holds a grudge over her paycheck from the original 2004 movie.

How much was Barbara Streisand paid for ‘Meet the Parents’?

Although the exact remuneration for a film is never revealed by an actor, it seems that Barbra Streisand was paid significantly less compared to some of her male co-stars, and she’s still angry about that.

Barbra Streisand Reveals She Was Paid Less Than Co-Stars in 'Meet the Fockers'
Image
Barbra Streisand is revealing the reason she won’t be reprising her role in the new Meet the Parents movie.

According to the 83-year-old actress, she’s still not happy with the fact that there was a pay gap between her and her male co-stars in Meet the Fockers.

She spoke to Variety about the possibility of her reprising her role and said her paycheck in the 2004 sequel is holding her back from saying yes.

Keep reading to find out more…

Barbra told the publication that in order to come back for the upcoming Little Fockers movie, she would have to get a serious pay raise.

She said, “Oh my God. They’d have to pay me a lot of money because I didn’t get paid what the other people got paid and so I’m pissed off. I was in the time when women were getting paid less than the men.

"I'm Pissed Off": Meet The Parents 4 Return By Previous Star, 83, Possible If 1 Condition Is Met
Image
Another Meet the Parents 4 return from a previous star, now 83 years old, is possible, but only if one condition is met. A fourth film in the series is officially in development with John Hamburg, who co-wrote the first three films, set to both write and direct the project. Meet the Parents 4 will feature the return of Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, and Owen Wilson, with Ariana Grande also joining the cast in her first role since Wicked.

During a recent interview with Variety, Barbra Streisand addressed a possible return in Meet the Parents 4. The star says she would only consider returning if she were paid significantly more, as she was underpaid compared to her male co-stars in earlier films. She highlighted the pay disparity for women at the time, though she appreciated a bonus check from Universal's then-head, Ron Meyer. Read her...

Barbra Streisand Is 'Not Ready to Direct Again;' Talks Meet The Parents Sequel
Image
Barbra Streisand won't be returning to the director's chair anytime soon. "I’m not ready to direct again. I think I’ve probably had it," the iconic multi-hyphenate told Variety in a recent interview about her new album, The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two. She had considered directing various projects in the past, among them a film adaptation of Gypsy in which she also hoped to star. However, during its development, lyricist Stephen Sondheim told Streisand that she would either have to direct the movie or act but not both, as the role was "too difficult." “I always wanted to end my career, my movie career doing Gypsy,” said Streisand in the interview. “That would’ve been the book end to my Funny Girl play....

‘Meet the Parents’ Star, 83, Reveals Her One Major Condition for Returning for Sequel
Image
Barbra Streisand isn’t ruling out another round as Roz Focker — but if you want her back, it’s going to cost you. Now 83, the Egot-winning icon is as busy as ever, releasing The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, a new album featuring duets with the likes of Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Sam Smith, and Ariana Grande. It’s her first release since her sprawling 970-page memoir My Name Is Barbra, and she's also in the middle of filming a multi-part documentary about her life. But despite her still-busy schedule, Streisand insists she’d rather be relaxing.

“I’m very lazy,” she said on this week’s Just for Variety podcast. “I don’t like to have to work. I like to be free. I don’t like to have commitments.”

Which is why any return to the big screen — particularly as Roz Focker, the wildly unfiltered sex therapist...
