Netflix's 'Fubar' Season 2 Debuts To Improved Rotten Tomatoes Score for Arnold Schwarzenegger Series
Image
Netflix's hit action comedy series Fubar, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, has finally returned with Season 2. While the first season failed to impress critics, it seems Fubar has moved up the action series ladder with a much-improved installment that defies expectations.

As of this writing, Fubar Season 2 has a 67% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, based on six reviews. This is a notable improvement from the first season, which currently has a rotten 58% rating based on 64 reviews. Of course, the number for Fubar Season 2 will likely fluctuate over the next week as more people view the series, which begins streaming on Netflix starting Jun. 12. However, it is a good sign of things to come for the return of the action series. Fubar follows a father-daughter CIA operative duo played by Schwarzenegger and Academy Award-nominee Monica Barbaro.

While not every critic is in love with Fubar Season 2, most agree that it is...

Here’s Why Eddie Murphy and Sylvester Stallone Had Long-Standing Beef
Image
When I first learned that Sly Stallone had it out for Eddie Murphy, I assumed it was because Murphy became a mega movie star after taking over for the Rocky star in Beverly Hills Cop. But that comedy’s success wasn’t why Stallone was irate with Murphy — it was a behind-the-scenes rumor on another movie that generated the beef.

First, some background. Stallone was hired to star in Beverly Hills Cop while Murphy was still an up-and-coming comic on Saturday Night Live. The original screenplay had plenty of comedy elements, but Stallone rewrote the script to crank up the action elements. According to Far Out, Sly’s version of the story would have ended with a showdown between a Lamborghini and a freight train. Sounds like Stallone, all right.

Hot off of 48 Hrs., Murphy took over the role, improvised his way through filming, and became a global movie star.

She-Hulk Was Canceled Twice Before Marvel's Disney+ Series
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has turned plenty of less famous Marvel characters into big-screen icons. From Rocket Raccoon and Scarlet Witch to the Falcon, the Eternals, and even Hawkeye. That trend has continued in the franchise's Disney+ era, with spin-off shows focusing on lesser-known heroes like Moon Knight and She-Hulk. In the latter case, however, previous attempts had been made to adapt the green-skinned heroine for the screen. All ended in roadblocks before Tatiana Maslany finally brought the role to life.

The character of She-Hulk, aka Jennifer Walters, wasn't created until 1979, midway through the famous "Incredible Hulk" TV series starring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. Following that show's conclusion in 1982, a series of TV movies were made to continue the story. The third of those, 1990's "The Death of the Incredible Hulk," nearly included a live-action version of She-Hulk, but those plans never came to fruition.

With those original TV plans scrapped,...

Delayed 'Red Sonja' Reboot Gets Release Update, Will Arrive Late 2025
Image
Nearly two and a half years after it finished filming in 2022, the long-awaited Red Sonja reboot is finally being released in 2025. It had been years since the project was first announced before things finally got moving on in 2021, when Tasha Huo (Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft) was brought on board to pen the script, and M. J. Bassett (Silent Hill: Revelation) was brought in to direct. The film stars Matilda Lutz (Revenge) in the titular role made famous by Brigitte Nielsen in the 1985 original.

Per Deadline, Red Sonja will be released in the UK later this year after Signature Entertainment acquired UK and Irish rights to the film, which has already been sold to multiple international markets by Millennium Media. Red Sonja Secures A UK Release - But There's Still No Word On What's Happening In The U.S.
Image
The long-awaited Red Sonja reboot hasn't had the easiest journey to the big screen. For starters, it's lost multiple filmmakers, including disgraced X-Men director Bryan Singer and main star, Thunderbolts*'s Hannah John-Kamen.

M.J. Bassett has since stepped behind the camera to helm the action, with Matilda Lutz tapped to bring the iconic warrior to life in a movie fans hope will do this character justice. It's been nearly four decades since the character appeared in a movie, with Brigitte Nielsen bringing the iconic hero to life way back in 1985.

Deadline (via SFFGazette.com) has confirmed today that the new Red Sonja movie has "been sold to the UK" and is scheduled to be released "later this year" after spending two years in post-production.

Red Sonja | Fantasy reboot due for release in 2025
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brigitte Nielsen in Kalidor : La Légende du talisman (1985)
Thirty years after it was last adapted for the large screen, the troubled Red Sonja reboot is finally coming out in 2025, a report suggests.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but it’s taken a staggeringly long time to reboot Red Sonja. Based on the comic book character of the same name, the fantasy yarn was first adapted into a movie in 1985, with Brigitte Nielsen as the titular sword-swinging warrior.

A reboot was first talked about in 2008, and has spent the years since roaming the various circles of development hell. Bryan Singer was going to direct a new Red Sonja at one point, but then it was discovered that he’s (allegedly) an awful human being and bowed out. According to Deadline, though, the new Red Sonja has been picked up for a UK and Irish release by Signature Entertainment, and is scheduled for release in 2025. The outlet also...

Cobra (1986) – What Happened to This Horror Action Movie?
Image
What do you get when you mix parts of an unrealized Beverly Hills Cop script, romantic thriller novel ‘A Running Duck’, and a leading man named Marion? Well, naturally…. a film with a body count of over fifty. A film where the original cut was so violent and so brutal it had to be heavily edited to avoid an X-rating by the MPAA. All starring Sylvester Stallone at the height of his popularity; cutting pizza with scissors in his apartment unreasonably close to an outrageously large neon Pepsi sign and murdering the bejesus out of some really bad dudes. Today, not knowing what the f*ck happened to Cobra is the disease… and we’re the cure. This is Wtf happened to Cobra.

We’re not trying to make you fall for the old “banana in the tailpipe” when we tell you Stallone was originally supposed to star in Beverly Hills Cop.

'I Didn't Write the Script!': Dolph Lundgren Says Carl Weathers Was Always 'Sore' About Rocky IV Fight
Image
Dolph Lundgren and Carl Weathers were initially adversaries both on and off-camera in Rocky IV. In a recent interview, Lundgren explained why he felt Weathers was always sore about their characters' fight in the 1985 sports movie.

Speaking with Screen Rant during a Fan Expo panel, Lundgren shared how he didn't get to spend much time with Weathers before they were thrown into the ring together to shoot the fight between Ivan Drago and Apollo Creed. "Well, I didn't know Carl [before Rocky IV]. I knew Stallone because we boxed and trained together for six months, and he was my boss. We were in the ring six days a week, so you push each other around, you're sparring, and you get to know each other. But Carl, I didn't know," he explained. "When I first met him, we were shooting the fight of Apollo versus Drago in Las Vegas, and Carl showed up two days before.

'Rocky IV' Star and Action Hero Dolph Lundgren has Beaten Cancer After Being Given 2 Years to Live

Dolph Lundgren has beaten many tough and deadly opponents on screen, but his biggest victory has come in real life, as the Rocky and Expendables star has revealed that he is cancer-free after battling the disease for almost a decade. However, what makes this even more incredible is that the 67-year-old action star was given just two to three years to live in 2020.

Sharing a new video from his hospital bed where he was having what he believes to be the last cancer cells removed, the actor shared a message of hope and gratitude for the support he has received since he went public about his fight in 2023. He said in the video:

"Alright, here I am [at] UCLA, about to go in and get rid of that last tumor — and, since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, I guess I'll be cancer-free, so I'm looking forward to this procedure.

10 Fantasy Box Office Flops That Deserved Better
Image
There have been so many great fantasy movies over the years that never received the box office love they deserved. As a genre that relies on viewers letting themselves be swept away by alternative worlds and stories of magical wonder, sometimes it takes a while for the value of a fantasy story to be recognized by viewers, and it is only years or decades later that a fantasy film takes its rightful place as a cult classic. Other times, movies that should have been great were handled badly, and subpar films were released that didnt reach their full potential.

Some of the biggest box office flops of all time were in the fantasy genre, as this was a style that can feel overly campy and needlessly self-important if not presented well. Its a fine line to walk, and while the best fantasy movies ever have pulled this off well, other...

Dave Coulier Reflects on Infamous ‘The Surreal Life’ Hook-up in ‘Dark Side of Reality TV’ Sneak Peek (Video)

For its next episode, Dark Side of Reality TV is looking back on another of the early aughts’ pop culture oddities: This time, it’s The Surreal Life, a celebrity soup show that had some very shocking moments indeed throughout its original six seasons. The vintage VH1 series brought a very varied group of celebrities together to cohabitate, The Real World style, and one of its most memorable moments — for better and for worse — was in its third season when Public Enemy rapper Flavor Flav and Danish model-turned-’80s action star Brigitte Nielsen randomly began to hook up. The two were, it seemed, instantly and madly in love in the house, and that romance extended to a spinoff show called Strange Love that would be then spun off into Flavor of Love and a cascade of copycat programs for the network (I Love New York, Rock of Love, Real Chance of Love,...

M.J. Bassett has since stepped behind the camera to direct the action, with rising star Matilda Lutz tapped to bring the iconic warrior to life in a movie fans hope will do this character justice.

After all, it's been nearly four decades since Red Sonja graced the big screen, with Brigitte Nielsen bringing the iconic hero to life way back in 1985.

Earlier this week, we caught up with action icon Rhona Mitra to discuss her role in XYZ Films' Hounds of War. She's been tapped to play an unnamed character in the new Red Sonja and we asked what she could tease about the project.

"I know that I'm not really allowed to say anything about that.

Sylvester Stallone: The $189M Movie I Made Was at “Such a low ebb of my emotional fortunes… that I didn’t care if I lived, or died”
Image
With all the awards and fame in his pocket, to call Sylvester Stallone a Hollywood icon would be an understatement. The Italian Stallion defined the action genre in the 1980s and 1990s with his Rambo series, which still stands the test of time.

However, there was one Rambo movie where Sylvester Stallone was completely off the rails, disregarding his own safety. During the filming of Rambo 3, Sly was going through a really tough time.

Despite being considered one of the lower-ranked entries in Sylvester Stallone’s movie career, Rambo III still packs a punch with its jaw-dropping action and extreme gore. The stunts were often done by Sly himself, and in this movie, he was completely unhinged.

Years later, in an interview with Roger Ebert,...

Red Sonja is Not the Worst Movie of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Many Fans Would Brand His 1st Movie Unwatchable
Image
If you think Red Sonja is a cinematic low for Arnold Schwarzenegger, hold onto your popcorn! Helmed by Richard Fleischer and penned by Clive Exton and George MacDonald Fraser, this 1985 flick might not have snagged any Oscars, but it does offer a buffet of campy fun and over-the-top sword fights.

Fans of the Austrian Oak, however, argue that this sword-and-sorcery movie isn’t even close to his worst film. That dubious honor goes to Hercules in New York (1970), the actor’s debut flick.

Schwarzenegger’s first big screen outing, directed by Arthur Allan Seidelman, has been widely panned. The movie’s reputation is so poor that fans often scratch their heads, baffled by how the actor went from this flop to a superstar. One especially puzzled viewer even asked, “How did he become a star?”

Seargeoh Stallone: Everything To Know About Sylvester's Son (Including Why He Doesn't Appear In The Family Stallone)
Image
Seargeoh Stallone, Sylvester's son, is one of the lesser-known members of the Stallone family. Sylvester Stallone was one of the biggest movie stars of the '70s and '80s. Even when he moved out of the peak stardom of his earlier career, Stallone remained in the Hollywood spotlight thanks to some key cameos, smaller roles in major franchises, and the occasional return to the lead in films like Creed and The Expendables.

With his burly physique, unique voice, and ability to play sensitive and strong, Stallone is one of those directors and actors with a high approval rating from everyone. Stallone has had several high-profile relationships, including three marriages. He married Sasha Czack in 1974 and divorced her in 1985, married Brigitte Nielsen that same year and divorced her in 1987, and then married Jennifer Flavin in 1997 and has been with her since. Stallone is not shy about his personal life,...

Every Arnold Schwarzenegger Action Movie From The 1980s, Ranked
Image
Regarding movie stars during the 1980s, it does not get any bigger than Arnold Schwarzenegger, who spent this decade starring in some of the most iconic action movies ever produced. From his breakout success in Conan the Barbarian to the timeless appeal of The Terminator, this Austrian bodybuilder managed to become one of Hollywoods most bankable stars and earn his place as a touchstone of modern popular culture. With a skill for playing no-nonsense heroes who had little issue with leaving bodies and carnage in their wake, the only thing more unstoppable than Schwarzenegger during the 1980s was his career.

Many of the best Schwarzenegger action movies were released during the 1980s, as his ongoing rivalry with fellow action hero Sylvester Stallone meant they pushed one another to continually up the stakes and make increasingly intense, over-the-top action movies. Schwarzenegger played fantasy warriors, unstoppable killing machines, and skilled Special Forces officers during this time,...

Every Arnold Schwarzenegger Action Movie Ranked From Worst To Best
Image
Arnold Schwarzenegger made a huge impact in action films from the 80s and 90s, becoming an international star. Schwarzenegger diversified his roles, appearing in action films, genre oddities, and family comedies. Despite his peak and slight decline, Schwarzenegger has remained active in Hollywood, showcasing no signs of slowing down.

For an entire generation of film fans, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies provided some of the most iconic action flicks of the 1980s and 90s. He's played heroes and villains, ruthless robots, and kindergarten cops. With bulging muscles, a singularly bizarre presence, and a lot of heart, Schwarzenegger parlayed a bodybuilding career into one of Hollywood's most profitable and prolific film careers. Arnold's breakthrough came with 1982's Conan the Barbarian, a box-office hit that captured the attention of James Cameron, who then cast him as the titular role in the action game-changer The Terminator.

Flavor of Love was a reality dating show that aired on VH1 from January 2006 to May 2008, starring rapper Flavor Flav from the Hip Hop group Public Enemy. The show began as a result of Flavor Flav's failed relationship with Brigitte Nielsen, showcased on VH1's Strange Love and their appearances on The Surreal Life. Thanks to the general interest, the audience had grown towards Flavor Flav's life and Flavor of Love was a huge hit, particularly with the second season finale becoming the second highest-rated non-sports basic cable show of 2006. The format of the show revolved around the rapper dating a group of 20 women who competed for his affection. The rapper would date all these women over several weeks in the hopes of finding his ideal partner. In the glamorous world of Hollywood, where stars often seem to lead fairy-tale lives, the reality behind the scenes can be far from glamorous. One such chapter was his whirlwind romance with Brigitte Nielsen, which captivated the public as the two became one of the most iconic celebrity couples of the 1980s.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brigitte Nielsen in Kalidor : La Légende du talisman (1985)
Red Sonja | New film is a ‘completely different’ story says star
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Brigitte Nielsen in Kalidor : La Légende du talisman (1985)
The ‘very male-gazed orientation’ of the 1980s version of Red Sonja will be a thing of the past in the remake, says Matilda Lutz.

Fantasy adventure Red Sonja emerged in 1985, three years after 1982’s Conan The Barbarian and around the time of the unexpectedly daft Conan The Destroyer. Red Sonja, directed by Destroyer’s Richard Fleischer, cashed in on that series’ popularity and also featured its star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, alongside 80s icon Brigitte Nielsen who starred as the titular female warrior.

There has been talk of a reboot of the movie for years, but it seems to be a project that has taken forever to bring to the screen – and we’re not just talking about the hold-ups caused by strikes and pandemics. For well over a decade, various attempts have been made to get the film up and running, with creative talent such as Robert Rodriguez, Rose McGowan, Simon West,...

She Is Conann – Review
Image
A scene from She Is Conann. Courtesy of Altered Innocence

Let’s begin with the title, She Is Conann. One might expect a distaff approximation of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1982 Conan The Barbarian, its sequel Conan The Destroyer two years later, and the zillion, or so, incarnations those spawned in live action or anime over the following 41 years. Or a reboot of 1985’s Red Sonja, in which statuesque Brigitte Nielsen matched Ahnuld’s Kalidor (think Conan Lite) blow-for-blow. But, as the Pythons would say, “And now for something completely different…”

This version comes from France, Belgium and Luxembourg. It’s sort of a post-apocalyptic or alternate universe piece of mysticism, with time travel in the mix. The tale is narrated in a wraparound with an elderly Conann telling her story to a possible successor to her throne, guided by dog-faced vassal, Rainer (Elina Lowensohn). I didn’t mention who plays Conann...

10 Movie Characters That Only Worked Because Of Their Actors
Image
Some movie characters are so intertwined with the actors who play them that recasting them would be sacrilegious. Actors like Sylvester Stallone, Jim Carrey, and Audrey Hepburn have created iconic characters through their unique performances. Characters like Rocky Balboa, The Dude, and Holly Golightly would not work without the actors who brought them to life.

Some movie characters are so intrinsically linked to the people who play them that they only work because of their actors and to even think about recasting them would be sacrilegious. Sometimes a movie character is written with a particular actor in mind to play the part and they can be imbued with the performer's mannerisms, personality, and characteristics to such a point that the character no longer works if they are not playing the part. Often this is due to the actors writing the part for themselves, being an important aspect of their development,...

The stars hit the streets of Los Angeles Saturday afternoon for Balenciaga’s much-anticipated fashion show.

Kim Kardashian arrived carrying an Erewhon shopping bag, the latest collaboration between the luxury fashion house and the upscale grocery store.

10 Action Movies Where The Villain Was The Better Fighter (The Hero Should Have Lost)
Image
Some action movies create villains who are better fighters than the heroes, making the suspense more believable and engaging, yet risking creating a scenario where the hero shouldn't win at all. In movies like Rocky IV and Black Panther, the antagonist proves to be a formidable opponent and should have won based on their superior skills. Other examples include Bucky Barnes in The Winter Soldier and Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

Even the most iconic superheroes and action movie heroes did not deserve a few of their wins, as there have been many villains who were by far the better fighters. Having an antagonist who can go toe-to-toe with the hero of an action film adds to the experience. If it's clear that the hero is far superior, the suspension of disbelief will not hold up. However, some action movies go too far and create villains who are better...

Red Sonja: Revisiting the movie Arnold Schwarzenegger wishes he could forget
Arnold Schwarzenegger
In the early eighties, Arnold Schwarzenegger had become a star through his role in Conan the Barbarian. Following a critically maligned but successful sequel, Conan the Destroyer, Schwarzenegger sought to move into more contemporary roles. His contract with producer Dino De Laurentis was ending, but the legendary mogul wanted to use Schwarzenegger’s star power to launch another adaption of Robert E. Howard’s work – Red Sonja. The resulting film was a star vehicle for Brigitte Nielsen, who some saw as a potential female action icon, and Schwarzenegger, due to his contract with De Laurentis, had no choice but to appear in a critical supporting role (for which he would be top-billed) opposite Nielsen, who played the titular character.

Directed by Richard Fleischer, who had also directed Conan the Destroyer, Red Sonja, with its $6.9 million gross, ranks as the least successful film Schwarzenegger made during his heyday, with even his wife,...
