The 15 Best Doppelganger Films, from ‘Dead Ringers’ to ‘Vertigo’
Image
It’s official: 2025 is the year of the double. This year, cinemas have been flooded with movies in which actors play, quite literally, against themselves, taking on the roles of twins, clones, and strangers who look uncannily like each other.

In February, Theo James played two diametrically opposed brothers in Osgood Perkins’ horror film “The Monkey” this February. In March, Robert Pattinson played a series of clones in Bong Joon Ho’s aptly-named “Mickey 17.” By April, Michael B. Jordan had joined the fray, playing a pair of twin brothers in Ryan Coogler’s smash hit “Sinners.” And that was just the first half of the year.

There’s just something about a doppelganger that feels uniquely cinematic. A person who looks like you, thinks like you, and maybe even lives like you has always been a subject of fascination and dread in literature and philosophy, a concept that raises...

Apple TV+’s Sci-Fi Show Currently on Season 3 Is a Must-Watch for Fans of the Alien Franchise
Image
Apple TV+’s sci-fi show, Invasion Season 3, is out and premiering its episodes weekly. A must-watch phenomenon embodies Alien terror, social unrest, and fearful, fractured memories. The show draws parallels with the Alien franchise, including the recently launched Hulu show, Alien: Earth.

It proves to be a miracle for the Alien fanbase to have their Tuesdays and Fridays of every week packed with the Alien lore in the form of Alien: Earth and Invasion, respectively. While the former is a horror-driven show, the latter focuses on a slower, character-driven drama, though both capture a similar feeling of dread and high-stakes threat posed by a dangerous Alien species.

Liam Neeson Teams With an Avenger in This Divisive 55% Rt Thriller With a New Streaming Home
Image
In 2017, Liam Neeson admitted to Sky News that retirement from action films might finally be calling his name. “I'm like: ‘Guys, I'm sixty-f—ing-five.’ Audiences are eventually going to go: 'Come on,’” he joked. That was one year before the release of The Commuter and, nearly 9 years later, Neeson's comments seem slightly premature. So if you want a look at what Neeson thought might be his final action movie, the good news is that The Commuter is heading to Paramount+ on September 1.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the 2018 thriller marked the duo’s fourth collaboration after Unknown, Non-Stop, and Run All Night. Like those films, The Commuter leans heavily on Neeson...

The Most Underrated Sci-Fi of the '90s Is Back on Streaming at Last
Image
One of the 1990s’ most overlooked sci-fi thrillers is finally back on streaming — and audiences are ready to dive back into the nightmare. Event Horizon, Paul W.S. Anderson’s space-set horror, made its return on Paramount+ on August 1, 2025, almost exactly 28 years after its theatrical release.

Back in 1997,Event Horizon wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms. The movie grossed just $42 million worldwide against a $60 million budget, and critics weren’t impressed either, giving it a meager 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. Reviews at the time called it derivative and “too reliant on horror clichés.” But if there’s one thing sci-fi history has proven, it’s that box office numbers and initial...

Is Sydney Sweeney’s Eden Based on a True Story: Director Explains Real-Life Inspiration
Image
The star-studded film, Eden, is a survival/murder mystery thriller inspired by the infamous Galápagos Affair of 1934. Centered on a radically experimental society established by 7 colonists from Germany, the real-life story follows the mysterious deaths and unsolved disappearances of 4 of these 7 settlers.

Fascinated by the mystery, Ron Howard‘s family trip to the Galápagos Islands 15 years ago spawned an idea that had to be realized on the big screen. Speaking about his new film, Eden, and what it entails, the director claimed in an interview with USA Today:

[The Galápagos Affair] was our dinner conversation the whole trip. I’ve loved this story for a long time. I always wondered how people...

Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park Fixed Everything Wrong With This '70s Sci-Fi Western
Image
With the release of "Jurassic Park" in 1993, Steven Spielberg created an all-time cinematic classic. The definitive dinosaur movie, "Jurassic Park" adapted Michael Crichton's novel of the same name, telling the story of a futuristic theme park gone wrong. Thanks to some flashy cloning tech and some dino DNA found in mosquitoes encased in amber, the scientists at Jurassic Park are able to bring dinosaurs back to life, letting them walk the earth alongside human beings in the confines of John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) island theme park. What could possibly go wrong?

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't know exactly what went wrong at Jurassic Park...

‘Event Horizon: Dark Descent’ Prequel Comic Introduces New Demonic Villain and Sequel Potential
Image
In 1997, Paul W.S. Anderson forever left his mark on the horror genre. While the director might be best known for his work on franchises like Resident Evil or Mortal Kombat, it is Event Horizon – the science fiction horror movie written by Philip Eisner – that continues to best stand the test of time. Equal parts Alien and Hellraiser, Event Horizon tells the story of a search and rescue team who tries to recover a missing research vessel, only to discover that the ship, the Event Horizon, may very well be a gateway to hell.

Event Horizon is terrifying. It’s ambitious. And, much to the delight of horror fans everywhere, it’s back from the dead. This week, Idw Publishing will release the first issue of Event Horizon: Dark Descent, a new series from author Christian Ward, artist Tristan Jones, and colorist Pip Martin. And to hear Ward say it, this...

Every Peaky Blinders Villain, Ranked by How Close They Came to Actually Beating Tommy Shelby
Image
It’s been three years now since Peaky Blinders gave us a cliffhanging closure with Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby character, and left us still debating which villain came closest to breaking him. From rival gang leaders to political sharks, every foe forced Tommy to sharpen his game, and each season raised the stakes higher.

First aired in 2013 under creator Steven Knight’s vision, Peaky Blinders became a global hit for its gritty writing, razor-edged cinematography, and that iconic rock-heavy soundtrack. What truly made the show stick, though, was the fabulous cast- Murphy, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sam Neill, each turning complex roles into pop culture staples.

In particular, Murphy’s performance transformed him into a global star, but none of that tension would have landed without unforgettable villains. So, here we have ranked the villains by just how close they came to beating the almighty Tommy Shelby.

15 Best Movies Like Jurassic Park
Image
"An adventure 65 million years in the making ..." says the tagline on the poster for Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park." And for once, the ads don't lie. Decades later, this groundbreaking dinosaur adventure remains a masterclass in blockbuster filmmaking, with enough power, thrills, and wit to rival -- and in many ways surpass -- modern summer blockbusters, including the franchise's latest, "Jurassic World: Rebirth." (Hint: they should've stopped after one.)

Spielberg helms "Jurassic Park" with the same class and grace as his more serious pictures. Sure, it only goes about a foot deep in terms of its story and characters -- played by Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum -- but there's a sense of wonder percolating throughout, and plenty of weight given to the extravagant action scenes. Grown men practically weep at the sight of a Triceratops, and when a Tyrannosaurus rex attacks, its victims are paralyzed by terror and amazement.

Why Jake Johnson Couldn't Return For Jurassic World Dominion
Image
Despite now encompassing more movies than the original "Jurassic Park" film trilogy, the "Jurassic World" franchise hasn't been quite as successful at establishing memorable characters. That's no shade to Chris Pratt or Bryce Dallas Howard, who do a fine job playing Owen Grady and Claire Dearing through the first three "Jurassic World" movies. It's simply true that those characters and the films' supporting players haven't entered the cinematic pantheon the way that Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) have. Need proof? Just look at how many classic "Jurassic Park" characters got brought back over the course of the initial "Jurassic World" trilogy, as if the newcomers in those movies couldn't carry the weight of their blockbuster budgets on their own.

To be sure, though, there have been some standout supporting performances in these films, most of them from 2015's "Jurassic World.

Jonathan Bailey Had A Secret Second Role In Jurassic World Rebirth
Image
After earning over $800 million at the box office, "Jurassic World Rebirth" proved that audiences still really do move in herds to revisit the now seven-movie franchise. Featuring a brand-new cast battling a variety of bitey beasts that time forgot, one star who contributed a little more than most was "Bridgerton" and "Wicked" star Jonathan Bailey.

Starring alongside Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali, Bailey took on the role of paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, who joins an expedition to yet another island where humans don't belong. However, Bailey, a man of many talents (and owner of popular small glasses), also contributed to the franchise's beloved musical score by showcasing his musical skills as a trained clarinetist. "I was doing Adr the week before with Gareth [Edwards, director], and they were recording at Abbey Road Studios the following week, and I went along, obsessed with ... film scores, and [composer] Alexander Desplat's score in this is just knock-out.

28 Years Later, Sam Neill’s $60 Million Sci-Fi Horror Feature Finally Returns to Streaming
Image
One of Paul W.S. Anderson’s most recognized movies is back on streaming nearly three decades after its underwhelming theatrical debut, and viewers are loving every minute. Event Horizon hit theaters in the U.S. on August 15, 1997, and a week later in the UK, but wasn’t much of a success, critically or commercially. The film grossed only $42 million against a $60 million budget, while on Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave it a 36% rating and condemned it for “its overreliance on horror clichés.”

That didn’t stop the sci-fi feature from gaining even more traction on streaming, after debuting on Paramount+ on August 1, 2025. Additionally, Event Horizon has since developed a cult following in the years after release while finding success on home video. Set in 2047, the 1997 movie follows a crew of astronauts sent on a rescue mission after a missing spaceship, the Event Horizon, spontaneously appears in orbit around Neptune seven years following its disappearance.

Scott Rose-Marsh has reportedly screen tested for the role of James Bond

A whole lot of actors have shot screen tests for the role of James Bond over the decades, including James Brolin, Sam Neill, and Henry Cavill – and now, you can add another name to the list, as The Hollywood Reporter has shared the rumor that British actor Scott Rose-Marsh, whose credits include Krays: Code of Silence, Yr Amgueddfa, and Wolves of War, shot a screen test for the role in late June, not long after director Denis Villeneuve was hired to take the helm of the 26th film in the franchise. Now, we’ll have to wait and see in the process works out better for Rose-Marsh than it did for Brolin, Neill, and Cavill.

According to THR’s “well-placed source close to the production,” Rose-Marsh was brought in to read sides from 1995’s GoldenEye – and he was given just one piece of direction before the screen test cameras rolled:...

Matthew Modine Explains What Drew Him to Legendary's MonsterVerse Franchise
Image
Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actor Matthew Modine is known for starring in movies like Full Metal Jacket (1987), Memphis Belle (1990), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and for his role as Dr. Martin Brenner in Stranger Things. Earlier this year, Modine was cast in the latest offering from Legendary’s MonsterVerse franchise, and now he’s revealing what drew him to the part.

The actor took to Threads to explain why he wanted to be part of the next Godzilla x Kong movie. He posted a picture of himself with the Godzilla x Kong Supernova logo, which also included a quote from BangShobiz saying, “Matthew Modine says he joined Godzilla & Kong 3 because he ‘wanted to meet Godzilla.’”

Modine, in his Threads post, confirmed that, yes, he did want to meet the famous monster. “Of course I did. Wouldn’t you want to hang out with a 600 foot lizard!? I mean, seriously. And...

‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Becomes No. 4 Most-Watched English Language Netflix Movie of All Time, Securing 158 Million Views
Image
“KPop Demon Hunters” made Netflix history during the week of July 28, becoming the streamer’s fourth most-watched English-language movie to date. In the seven weeks since its debut, the action musical secured 158.8 million views.

The animated movie from Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans has now been more widely watched in its first 90 days than Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Garner’s “The Adam Project,” Sandra Bullock’s “Bird Box,” Cameron Diaz and Jaime Foxx’s “Back in Action,” Sam Esmail’s “Leave the World Behind,” Ryan Gosling’s “The Gray Man,” Millie Bobby Brown’s “Damsel” and Robert Rodriguez’s “We Can Be Heroes.” It also bumped “We Can Be Heroes” out of Netflix’s top 10 most popular English-language movies list.

And since the 90-day cutoff for “KPop Demon Hunters” won’t happen until mid-September, chances are high that ranking will only be going up, up, up.

Despite the success of Netflix’s latest hit,...

‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’ Star Shares Surprising First Comments About the Sequel [Exclusive]
Image
The MonsterVerse just got a little more delightful thanks to Matthew Modine, who offered fans a playful behind-the-scenes peek at the making of Godzilla x Kong: Supernova during a panel at FanX's Tampa Bay Comic Convention this weekend. Appearing alongside Stranger Things co-star David Harbour, Modine couldn’t resist sharing his own brand of kaiju-induced existential comedy with Collider's Maggie Lovitt — and yes, it turns out he joined the movie for one very wholesome reason. “I just worked in Godzilla x King Kong: Supernova,” Modine said with a grin. “That was pretty exciting. Oh, to work with Godzilla.”

The Oscar-nominated actor — who joins a stacked cast including Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill — reflected on what it means to be a grown-up playing pretend, especially when the co-stars you're acting opposite are skyscraper-sized monsters rendered entirely in VFX.

Eric Bana in Une nature sauvage (2025)
The #1 Series on Netflix Is a Riveting Whodunnit: “Immediately hooked… highly recommended.”
Eric Bana in Une nature sauvage (2025)
How would you like the chance to escape into an engaging crime thriller series that features the added bonus of breathtaking cinematography guaranteed to transport you to an idyllic and scenic landscape? Are you sold yet? If not, allow me to sweeten the deal even more. The series in question also features an all-star cast and a twisty narrative with which fans and critics alike are connecting.

Better yet, the series sits as the most-watched program on the Netflix platform today! Millions of subscribers cannot possibly be wrong, can they? I mean, I guess it’s technically possible, but that’s highly unlikely.

The program that I so mysteriously speak of is the limited series Untamed. The setup for the program is this: In the vast expanse of Yosemite National Park, a woman’s death draws a federal agent into lawless terrain, where nature obeys no rules but its own.

Netflix announces the Untamed season 2 news we totally saw coming
Image
Untamed simply can't be tamed! The mystery thriller series debuted on July 17 on Netflix and took off like wildfire, reaching the top 10 in multiple countries and staying put at No. 1 on the most popular shows ranking in the United States for over a week. The show's debut ratings, which reached an impressive mark of 24.6 million views, we clearly enough to warrant a quick renewal.

On July 29, less than two weeks since the series premiered, Netflix revealed that Untamed season 2 was officially renewed! The series, which was originally designated as a limited series, attracted enough of an audience (and then some) for Netflix to renew the series from American Primeval creator Mark L. Smith and his daughter Elle Smith. Another national park mystery is on the way!

Netflix's Ozark Replacement Show With 80% on Rt Gets an Unexpected Season 2 Renewal

Netflix has just revealed the future of one of its most recent releases. Untamed premiered on the platform on Jul. 17, and has been a major hit ever since.

Not even two weeks since its debut, Netflix decided to bet on the series and has officially renewed Untamed for Season 2, as per an announcement on X. Considering how popular the murder mystery drama has been since its release, the decision is not as surprising. However, the show had been created as a limited series, and it had already wrapped all the loose ends in its six episodes.

The Fate of Eric Bana's New 'True Detective' Replacement Netflix Series Has Been Decided
Image
Although Eric Bana’s Special Agent Kyle Turner may have closed the case on the mysterious death of Lucy Cook (Ezra Franky), the case isn’t yet closed on Netflix’s breakaway crime drama, Untamed. Today, the streamer announced that its latest title to take off like wildfire has been renewed for a second season. At this point, it isn’t clear whether Bana or other characters from the debut season will return or if the production will take on a similar layout to True Detective and move into anthology territory. We can presume that the next chapter will take us to a different National Park and away from the towering granite cliffs of Yosemite in California’s Sierra Nevada region, but aside from that, there’s a lot up in the air. Still, those who flocked to the incredibly bingeable six-episode series will be happy to know that there...

‘Untamed’ Renewed For Season 2 At Netflix
Image
Untamed will back for another season. Netflix revealed Tuesday it has renewed the series, starring Eric Bana, for a second season.

Written by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, Untamed is a character-driven mystery-thriller that follows Kyle Turner (Bana), a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. Sam Neill and Rosemarie DeWitt also starred in Season 1.

In Season 2, Bana returns to investigate a new mystery. At the end of Season 1, Turner finally left Yosemite National Park and hit the road, letting go of years of emotional baggage he had stored in the park’s wilderness.

“I am absolutely thrilled that we get the chance to bring another season of Untamed to life,” Bana said in a statement.

Image
Despite initially being made and marketed as a limited series, Netflix has now renewed its new crime thriller show for a second season. Released on the streamer earlier this month, Untamed introduces audiences to Eric Bana as Kyle Turner, a special agent for the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch (Isb) who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. Suddenly, the investigation of a brutal death sends him down a path that will force him to face the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past. While the intention was for the series to last just the six episodes that are now available, the show has been at the top of the...

The Sandman's popularity on Netflix is no dream. The prestige adaptation of the acclaimed comic book series continues to dominate Netflix's streaming charts ahead of the release of its final episode.

According to FlixPatrol, as of July 28, The Sandman is the No. 2 show worldwide on Netflix. The fan-favorite supernatural drama series is just ahead of Squid Game (No. 3) and Trigger (No. 4) in terms of popularity, but is quite a way from knocking Untamed, a new murder mystery series starring Eric Bana and Sam Neill, from the top spot. Netflix’s New Series Is Being Called a 10/10 Thriller(Photo Credit –Netflix)

Jurassic Park had Sam Neill running from dinosaurs. However, he is now back, but the monsters here wear human faces. Untamed, the new Netflix miniseries, dropped without much fuss and is already being called a 10/10 by viewers who can’t stop watching, according to Unilad. The show, released on July 17, did not take long for people to start raving about it, especially that opening scene, which feels like it grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go.

Untamed Netflix Series Opens With A Jaw-Dropping Scene

Untamed begins with two climbers scaling a cliff in Yosemite when something falls from above, and it is not a rock, but a body. A woman’s corpse plummets, snags the climbers’ rope, and hangs there, swinging in the air. That is how the show starts, yes, you read that right.
