On two occasions has run after and captured muggers in New York City. She says that both men's faces displayed mixed emotions when they realized who was sitting on their chests, holding them for police.

A story on America's Most Wanted (1988) showed how she goes undercover to help rescue children as young as 6 years old from the brothels in Bangkok.

(June 13, 2006) Was forcibly removed from a walnut tree on a South Central Los Angeles Community farm where she had stayed for 23 days to protest the sale of the farm to developers. Forty other protesters were arrested at the same time. Fellow activist Joan Baez also participated in the protest.
