Why 'Girls5eva' is the funniest Peacock comedy you probably missed
Image
The show follows four women from a ’90s girl group who reunite in midlife for one more shot at stardom.

Peacock has plenty of comedies, but the one I keep telling people about (that most have never heard of) is “Girls5eva.” My wife actually introduced me to it, and right away I was hooked by how much fun it is. The cast has crazy good chemistry, the original songs are hilarious, and the joke-a-second writing makes it one of the sharpest sitcoms I’ve watched in years. Critics loved it, it even pulled in Emmy noms, but it never broke through the way it should have. To me, “Girls5eva” is...

5 epic Netflix flops you completely forgot about
Image
Netflix has produced some of the biggest and most globally popular original series in the streaming era. Stranger Things, Wednesday, Squid Game, Bridgerton, and Adolescence are just a few of the Netflix original series that have taken over pop culture and the world in a big way. But as we know all too well, that's not always the case with Netflix shows.

Over the years, Netflix has become known for canceling a lot of its original series after only one or two seasons (though the streamer has gotten a lot better about that lately). In the past decade, there have been countless Netflix shows that were canceled and resulted in...

Bill Hader in Le chat chapeauté (2026)
Bill Hader’s The Cat in the Hat release pushed back to November 2026
Bill Hader in Le chat chapeauté (2026)
The Cat in the Hat will have to wait a little longer to unleash his shenanigans as the release of the upcoming animated film has been pushed back. The film was originally slated to hit theaters on February 27, 2026, but Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Bros. Animation have announced that the film will now be released on November 6, 2026.

The delay isn’t due to the production needing more time — it’s reportedly ready to go for February — but the studio believes it will do better closer to the holiday season, when families and kids are more available to head to the movies.

10 TV Shows Netflix Saved From Being Canceled
Image
Netflix is many different things to many different people. To some, it's the home of gripping original series. To others, it's the perfect laundry-folding service, offering harmless entertainment and light reality shows to put on in the background. But to select TV fans, Netflix is the home for second chances.

As Netflix grew in stature and influence, the streamer needed more content to fill its servers. So it took, and took again, to previously canceled network and cable shows: shows that often had an impassioned but small cult audience. Netflix reunited the main cast and creative team of each show, to try and relight the fire it originally had and provide closure its fans desperately needed. Some experiments were successful. Others, less so. But all are worth talking about in the history of Netflix as a medium disruptor.

Here, then, are 10 TV shows Netflix saved from cancellation. Is your favorite on the list?...

This Glenn Howerton Series Is Perfect For Fans Of The Abbott Elementary/It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Crossover
Image
Despite being two very different kinds of comedies, the hit Philadelphia-set sitcoms "Abbott Elementary" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" managed a pair of hilarious crossover episodes that showed the comedic flexibility of the people who made them. The extremely dark and rather adult "Always Sunny" humor somehow managed to mix brilliantly with the more sentimental and family friendly "Abbott," creating a mix that felt like nothing else on television ... almost.

For those seeking an acerbic but surprisingly sweet sitcom series set in a school that has elements of both "Abbott Elementary" and "It's Always Sunny," look no further than "A.P. Bio," created by former "Saturday Night Live" writer Mike O'Brien. "A.P. Bio" began its run on NBC before being canceled and then uncanceled and moved to Peacock, where it was unfortunately canceled a second time, ending with season 4, but it's still a satisfying watch despite its loose ends.

'The Cat in the Hat' Animated Movie, Starring Bill Hader, Debuts First Trailer - Watch Now!

The live-action The Cat in the Hat movie from 2003 was so poorly reviewed that Dr. Seuss‘ widow Audrey Geisel actually decided to never allow a live-action adaptation of any of his other books.

Warner Bros. Animation unleashes a bold, unpredictable, world-building trailer, poster & images for Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat
Image
When many of us think of iconic literary characters from our youth, legends like Corduroy, Madeline, Harold, Max, Eloise, and Curious George come to mind. Still, few remain as influential across generations as Cat from Dr. Seuss‘s 1957 children’s book The Cat in the Hat. With his lanky frame, barber shop pole striped hat, red bowtie, and white gloves, Cat is a feline of simple taste but remains as unpredictable as a kitten with a laser pointer. Today, Warner Bros. Animation brings Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat back for a bold new adaptation of his zany antics with a more spirited and colorful trailer than a school of fish.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Cat in the Hat, courtesy of Warner Bros. Animation:

“In the wonderfully whimsical tradition of Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat comes to the big screen in his animated theatrical feature film debut,...

‘The Cat in the Hat’: Everything to know about the ‘Seussiverse’-launching animated feature
Image
Talk about cat-itude. Following in the pawsteps of Mike Myers and Martin Short, Bill Hader is the latest actor to embody Dr. Seuss's iconic chapeau-wearing feline in Warner Bros. Animation's upcoming animated version of The Cat in the Hat. Due in theaters on Feb. 27, the release marks the return of the studio's previously dormant theatrical animation division, which teased a full slate of new feature-length cartoons at CinemaCon earlier this year.

The CinemaCon crowd was also treated to early footage from the The Cat in the Hat, including some non-finished sequences. But all the digital ink and paint is dry on the first trailer for the film, which debuted today and promised plenty of Seussian imagery and tomfoolery.

Hader, for one, is happy to provide the voice for the Cat in the Hat's latest onscreen life. "I remember reading the book as a kid and then reading it to my own kids,...

Bill Hader, 47, Begins a Whimsical New Adventure in First 'The Cat in the Hat' Trailer
Image
Oh, the places Bill Hader will go in next year's The Cat in the Hat movie. Over seven years ago, Warner Bros. Pictures snagged the rights to make a new feature adaptation of Dr. Seuss's iconic anthropomorphic feline. Now, the first trailer is finally here with the Barry star voicing the titular character in a whimsical new adventure that expands on the world of the storybook original. Filled with colorful and surreal visuals that capture the children's author's style, the footage teases a new challenge that will take him around the planet and threaten his signature striped headgear. The film will bring a little magic to theaters on March 6, 2026.

Published in 1957, the original Cat in the Hat tells the story of a young brother and sister who, during one cold and rainy day when their mother isn't home, are visited by the cat and his assistants, Things One and Two.

Kim Kardashian Eyed To Star In ‘Bratz’ Movie At Amazon MGM Studios; Mga Entertainment And Picturestart Producing
Image
Exclusive: After a competitive bidding battle, Amazon MGM Studios has landed the package for a live-action movie revolving around the Bratz doll line with Kim Kardashian and Picturestart on board to produce. Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick are writing the script, and while a deal is not closed, sources say Kardashian is being eyed to play the villain in the project.

Erik Feig and Julia Hammer will produce for Picturestart with Kardashian, and Jason and Jasmin Larian producing for Mga. Mga’s Isaac Larian will executive produce.

Given all the parties involved, along with the global popularity of the toy line, the package saw plenty of interest. But given the strong ties Kardashian and the studio already have, it makes sense the project ended up at Amazon MGM. Last year, the studio won an auction for an untitled thriller with Kardashian attached to star.

Why Netflix Canceled Girls5eva After Three Seasons
Image
Right at the end of 2024, a bunch of "Girls5Eva" fans — myself very much included — got terrible news. According to Variety and other major outlets, the show — which moved from Peacock to Netflix after the conclusion of its second season and premiered its third on Reed Hastings' streamer — never made it into Netflix's top 10. That meant it just wasn't popular enough, so it got axed.

This is a crying shame because "Girls5Eva," created by "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" veteran Meredith Scardino, is just so unbelievably funny, and I personally rallied for its third season to earn a spot on /Film's list of the best TV shows of 2024. With Tina Fey and Robert Carlock on board as executive producers, it's no surprise that the jokes fly just as fast as they did on that duo's outstanding show "30 Rock," and the plot of this unfortunately canceled comedy is pretty irresistable to boot: Former...

Inside Saturday Night Live’s “Absolutely Unreal” 50th Season
Image
Ask most anybody who’s ever worked at Saturday Night Live to describe their experience and you’ll hear the most harrowing responses … uttered in the most affectionate tones.

“SNL is built on Add, procrastination and people who can really focus at the very end of the day — it’s also a psychological torture chamber,” says Dana Carvey, castmember from 1986 to 1993.

Such animated takes aren’t just reserved for the on-air talent. “There’s the very familiar diarrhea cramps of which many have spoken about,” says Paula Pell, a writer from 1995 to 2013. “You get the cortisol back when you’re there, like somebody gave you 18 niacin pills and you’re just flushing in hot panic. But it’s exhilarating.”

Coyote contre Acmé (2026)
The Cat in the Hat directors defend Warner Bros’ decision during Coyote Vs. Acme debacle
Coyote contre Acmé (2026)
It seems like nearly everyone sided against Warner Bros. when the studio made the decision to shelve Coyote Vs. Acme, as the family film was already completed. Much like Batgirl, despite what the final product’s reception would turn out to be, the work of the artists involved in the production seemingly went on just to become a tax write-off. Warners is now producing a new animated version of the Dr. Seuss classic, The Cat in the Hat, and the team behind the upcoming film would take a surprising stand on the issue.

According to Deadline, The Cat in the Hat creatives have defended Warner Bros. on making the decision to shelve Coyote Vs. Acme, saying that the situation should not “become representative of how painful and atrocious the industry can be.” Co-director and co-writer of Cat in the Hat, Alessandro Carloni, recently spoke at a Work in Progression session...

Everybody's Live with John Mulaney finale welcomes another SNL favorite
Image
Everybody's Live with John Mulaney wraps up season 1 tonight. And for the finale on Netflix, John Mulaney is calling on one more Saturday Night Live great as a guest.

Mulaney's follow-up to Everybody's In LA has been a hit for the comedian, showcasing more of his absuridst side. It's a natural successor to Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and Mulaney isn't afraid to admit as much.

So it's fitting that Mulaney is going back to the SNL well for the finale and calling in one of Conan O'Brien's favorite guests: Adam Sandler. The actor and Saturday Night Live alum leads the guest lineup for tonight's season 1 finale.

Comedian Joe Mande and actor Sean Penn are also expected to appear. Tonight's musical guest is Sleater-Kinney featuring Fred Armisen. Plus, Mulaney promises to deliver on fighting three teenagers on air.

Netflix will stream the episode beginning at 10:00 p.m. Et.

Sure, you could turn to the internet for sexual education — or you could hire a stripper to teach you. And the latter is the choice that Abby makes in “Summer of 69.”

Now streaming on Hulu and marking the directorial debut of Jillian Bell — who also co-wrote the script — “Summer of 69” centers on an awkward high school senior who hires an exotic dancer to help seduce her longtime crush before graduation.

Along the way, the women develop their own odd friendship, and learn a bit about self-confidence, acceptance, and adulthood. And they do all this while surrounded by some familiar faces.

Here’s who you’ll need to know.

Summer of 69 Review — Jillian Bell’s Comedy Drama is Surprisingly Heartfelt
Image
An awkward teenager tries to become cool by hiring a stripper to teach her how to “69” with a boy she likes in Summer of 69. Jillian Bell’s directorial debut sports a funny premise and is able to follow up, thanks to two lovely performances from SNL‘s Chloe Fineman and newcomer Sam Morelos.

Summer of 69 Review

Abby Flores (Morelos) is a nerdy and closed-off teenager looking to celebrate the only chance she might have to do the devil’s tango with resident hot guy Max (Matt Cornett). In order to build up her confidence, she hires a down-on-her-luck stripper, Santa Monica (Fineman), to teach her the ins and outs of sexual confidence.

The premise is fun and allows us to experience a new type of Superbad-style sex comedy for the first half. Abby and Santa Monica are obviously polar opposites, with their ridiculous dynamic providing laughs for the first bit of the film.

‘Summer of 69’ Review: Chloe Fineman Plays a Sexual Mentor in a Teen Comedy That’s More Sweet Than Spicy
Image
Like many teenagers staring down their final days of high school, Abby (Sam Morelos), the protagonist of Jillian Bell’s more-heartfelt-than-bawdy new comedy Summer of 69, would like to have sex before she graduates.

When she learns that her crush Max (Matt Cornett), a tall, dark-haired soccer player, is newly single, the reserved online gamer resolves to sleep with him. Abby has had a crush on Max since she met him at their tony Catholic school in Syracuse, New York, and now, more than a decade later, she thinks she might have a chance. There’s only one problem: Abby lacks the sexual experience to make a move.

Following in the footsteps of Seth and Evan in Superbad and Pj and Josie in Bottoms, Abby executes an ill-conceived plan to get laid. In a move reminiscent of Percy’s parents in No Hard Feelings, the teen hires a dancer (Chloe Fineman...

Summer of 69 Review: Jillian Bell’s directorial debut is a funny and sincere coming-of-age sex comedy
Image
Plot: An awkward high school senior hires an exotic dancer to help seduce her longtime crush before graduation, leading to unexpected friendship and lessons in self-confidence, acceptance and adulthood.

Review: The sex comedy has long been the domain of male-centric stories. In the early 2000s, there was a shift to telling more female-led comedies that used nudity and graphic content to show that women could be just as nasty as men. While it has been a while since a solid R-rated comedy has done well on the big screen, several independent films have been snatched up by streaming platforms to pad their libraries. The latest addition to Hulu’s slate is one of the more substantive efforts and comes from actress Jillian Bell, making her feature directorial debut. Summer of 69 starts with a tone and approach that makes it seem in line with films like The Girl Next Door or...

Hulu's Spunky Sex Comedy 'Summer of 69' Trailer with Chloe Fineman
Image
"If you're a good dancer, you're good in bed." Hulu has unveiled an official trailer for Summer of 69, a coming-of-age high school comedy about a girl who tries to learn the (in)famous 69 sex position. No relation to Bryan Adam's classic rock song also called "Summer of 69", though they probably do use the song in it at some point. An awkward high school senior named Abby hires an exotic dancer to help seduce her longtime crush before graduation by learning a specific sexual position. She enlists the help of a local stripper to learn some sex moves, leading to unexpected friendship and important lessons in self-confidence, acceptance, and adulthood. She also learns that true self-discovery and lasting friendship are more valuable. Starring Chloe Fineman as Abby, Sam Morelos, Matt Cornett, Nicole Byer, Liza Koshy, Natalie Morales, Alex Moffat, Fernando Carsa, Paula Pell, and Charlie Day. This doesn't...
