Biography

    • Over the years, Tommy "Red" Phipps has accumulated many talents as a Singer, Actor, and Writer. At an early age Tommy started out as a Rapper on the West side of Chicago. He created his own style of Hip-Hop under the influence of a popular D.J., by the name of D.J. Shaky Shaun Robinson. The two teamed up to write and produce the hit dance song: "Get Down Low", which is frequently played on one of Chicago's hottest radio stations - Power 92.3 FM. To this day "Get Down Low" has become a House-hold theme song... and is one of the most requested songs in the night clubs through-out the Midwest.

After some success as a solo artist, Tommy moved to L.A., and started making a name for himself in the Acting realm as well. Inspired by popular actors such as; Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Deniro and Al Pacino - just to name of few. Tommy decided to further his training in the field of Fine Arts, by taking lessons at "Act One" School Of The Arts, in Chicago, and studying the Ivana Chubbuck Technique, and with other Instructors in Los Angeles, CA.

In 2005, he auditioned and was cast as a Police Officer with unusual street tactics, in the independent feature film: "Hostile Takedown" which was distributed by Maverick Entertainment, and was a successful Blockbuster rental. It then went on to sell well on DVD and on the Internet. Shortly after it's release, Tommy would appear in another movie: "The Engagement", starring Bernadette Stanis and Clifton Davis - where he plays the role of a Comedic Pimp. Filled with the passion of the business, Tommy landed a bigger role as the Supporting Bad Guy in the Crime Drama "Ran$um Games", starring Elise Neal and Wood Harris, of the TV Show The Wire - currently in negotiations with various distribution companies for the rights to its release.

Other projects include; 1. the movie "T.A.C.T.I.C.A.L.", in which he is one of the Executive Producers, and plays the lead role of a Notorious Drug Lord in cahoots with the Chief of Police. Released to DVD in march of 2008 2. His writings include; over 30 Rap and R&B songs, a completed comedy screenplay, entitled: "Chuurch Buss."
